Merchants of Death are a four piece band - combining thrash, death and black metal. They mostly write their own music, but "we always love doing Metallica and Black Sabbath Covers."
Lead Guitar and Vocals: Leighton White
Drums: Jeremy Firth
Rhythm Guitar: Mike Surville
Bass Guitar: Jaykib Pattison
Merchants of Death are playing Barbarella for FREE on the 4th because along with 'Nova presents' (who promote gigs for free in Rotorua) they are hoping to reignite the flames of the metal and hard rock scene in Rotorua.
Come along and show your support of Merchants of Death and Rotorua's only metal-friendly bar, Barbarella on Saturday 4th July!
To be kept up to date with bands playing in Rotorua, keep reading the NZMetal forum and join the 'Rotorua Metal Scene' group on Facebook.

Welcome to http://www.thedemopage.com and for those of you just wondering who and what we are, we are a site still in developement and are here to provide free resources. There is a lot going on and hopefully the site will prove to be invaluble to many people including unsigned artists.
Or that was the original twist on the site. Over the last few months, developement on the site has taken a new turn with new functionality added and this has made the site more diverse.
And in order to take advantage of the funtionality you will need to create an account (which is free, you will not receive any spam emails and all emails are stored privately and not distributed.).
Once registered, you will get access to the following.
- Free unlimited galleries with unlimited photos so you can share your photos and videos.
- Free audio libraries with unlimited entries so you can share you copyright free tunes.
- You can opt in for our free promotion tools. If you opt in, RSS feeds will be created for you and submitted.
- We took a shine to this tool and all files you uploaded can be used on other sites with this tool. It's an RSS Feed in flash format and can be used anywhere to show your material. You can even email it. This tool also means that people don't have to visit your webpage now as it contains all information you upload and is kept uptodate automatically.
You can even put it on a cd and provided you have link to the internet this will show your stuff.
- If you are an artists you get free event calenders to share.
- Any media which you wish to be promoted will be done so.
- To help you along your way you can enter Media Info, Artists Info or Gig Info.
- You can social network (still under development).
- You can now share your links with your visitors.
- are now available for you to create and share.
- we now have a forum where you can post questions etc.
- You can now have mates and chat with them.
- We are now in the middle of adding a page where you can recode your files from format to another.
- You will also get your own URL for easy access. It's not perfect but it works and you can also link to all your files with this url.
We are trying to preserve file formats as ,so unlike other sites which recode your files when uploading and the quality is lost, we just leave it as it is.
If you want to look at some example pages then Visit our test site or Hazzadj We also have a free downloads sections where you can look through hundreds of images, beats, samples and if you find any copyright infringments then simply use the block/illgeal option. This will be removed from all listings for further investigation. - click Download at the menu.
As well as downloading you can also upload your copyright free material to our download library for sharing if you don't fancy joining, with the added plus that you can add an email address and password to the file uploaded so you can administer it at a later date. (by administer we mean delete/amend).
And don't forget... all files will be checked so please, no material of an offensive nature.
Recently I came across the strangest acoustic-electric "Jansen" guitar in a Baghdad bazaar and had to buy it...at USD $30, who could resist? It's a curious Ovation/Applause knock-off, and other than the cheap plastic soundhole rosette, the other bits...bridge, fretboard, neck, machine heads, etc...are not bad quality at all. Installed a set of d'Addario extra-light phosphor-bronze strings and now she sings like an orgasmic angel!
I'm thinking some Chinese guitar maker just skimmed some extra parts from their licensed brand-name inventory for the thing and then slapped the defunct Jansen name on it, using the company's recognizable name without any risk of legal action. There's no way it could be a Jansen--the Ovation style debuted long after Jansen broke up, yeah? What do you think fellas? Photos available upon request. The serial number is MFG9710EQ/BK.
Hey
does anyone know what the very first nz music video was on MySpace?
Hi.
My son was recently given a Jansen Jazzman - it has cleaned up nicely and seems to be very original except for 3 added pick-up switches which I thought were original until I looked under the pickguard and saw the extra routing - from the limited info on the web I would guess at about 1963-64 as it came with a 1962 Jaguar style Simpson string damper - it has the original Simpson whammy and Kluson Deluxe tuners with pre-1964 script - I am happy to send photos - I would like to know if the pick-up adjusters originally had springs because this one has little rubber pads on neck (black and probably replacements) the old bunsen burner tube red rubber on the middle and nothing on the bridge which was wound right up to stop it rattling -it sounds very nice and the original pick-up toggle switch givers the switched pick-up extra grunt.
Cheers
Chris
You may have heard her previous albums, or contribution to the Hairspray soundtrack, but Aimee Allen is coming back with her most original and fresh CD to date, A Little Happiness. I had the opportunity to listen to the CD before its release, only to be impressed by Allen’s serene melodies and giddy lyrics. While Allen still stays true to her Cobain inspired roots, covering Sublime’s “Santeria” and at times letting her rock infused voice ring out, she juxtaposes those rock influences with simpler and more beautiful sounds and tones. With A little Happiness, which is being released July 21st, Allen transitions to more of a Mraz-esque direction, one that suits her well. If you’re looking for a nice light hearted summer album, check Allen out, and tell me what you think!
