They are some of Christchurch's top players, featuring six musicians with a reputation for excellence in search of the good groove. The band is Departure Lounge, and they're ready to ride with their first studio album.
To celebrate the release of their album In Session, Departure Lounge serve up their crisp musical biscuits of psychedelic groove in a nationwide tour. In Session captures Departure Lounge's solid reputation for soulful, mood-swinging melodies and a dynamic live performance that is a must-see for fans of progressive music.
The line-up is led by Oakley Grenell on guitar, who released his solo album Moving On in 2008 to critical success, and features drummer Nick Gaffaney (Cairo Knife Fight, Golden Horse), bassist Johnny Lawrence (Solaa), Cameron Pearce on trumpet (head of Chch Jazz School), saxophonist Chris Burke, pianist Darren Pickering, and the percussion duo of Sum Suraweera and Kurt Dyer (Solaa).

Hi all, I'm a drummer looking for a band or people to jam with.
I've played for about 3 years, sometimes having off periods.
I am interested in all genres and can use double kick with succession but would rather play something new and unusual such as a tribal theme band or along the lines of Tool or Primus. Anything like that really.
Text me on 0211720692 or message me here, cheers
Her Make Believe Band perform three fantastic songs at www.thecryptsessions.com and is available to view from Monday 2nd November 2009.
The Crypt Session are a series on intimate acoustic performances filmed in HD and recorded at The Crypt studio in London.
how ridiculous! It's on a Tuesday cos the promoter was a dodgy fuck and wasn't sure if they were going to turn up that nite. What a circus that ended up being........ Barmode rocked!
Based in Auckland. I don't care too much about age, however, you might. Our
bass player is late 20's, I am early 30's......... is all kinda irrelevant anyway as I
find that people age differently.... but up to you. Head over to myspace.com/thegraveyardwhistlers
just started setting up a site, check out the music style.
located in Auckland, all details about my live project are here:
http://www.myspace.com/applebiteproject
i'm after a DJ who can provide playback, sample triggers, sound manipulation (like Kaoss pad)...
also, very important to have contacts in the music scene for gigs, etc...
thank you
Mardo

Hi all
Moved in Auckland a while now, it has been a long time since I have played with others or written anything...and would love to continue with whomever wants to jam.
I play any songs that has good, meaningful lyrics and also enjoy working on songs written by my friends.
I am no pro and still have a lot to learn and am looking for anyone who would love to play for the sake of making music. Depending on the commitment of others would be nice to have a band...
To give you an idea of what I can do check out this short video I posted on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VbpfvJgopw
As for your music inffluences it can go as far as India, Ireland, France...(I don't care) as long as you got rhythm; being a mixed race I have a lot of inffluences.
Well, I am very excited at the prospect of playing music again with people.
Let me know if you're interested...:O)

Just a quick question.
I had a couple of vertabra fused back in '03.The surgeon went thru my neck. What a dumb ass I was for not forseeing the future! After the healing was pretty much over I tried the pipes and I had lost 3to4 notes on the high end.I went back bitching and he said just keep practicing and it would come back.NOT!
Any suggestions how to work this out?Medically losen vocal chords?Drink a magic formula?
I'm not a pro singer but I loved going to different places to sit in and do back up vocals.Just an ole 59 year hippie singer song writer.
Any replies very appreciated.
Peace......

The 1951 waterfront dispute was an epoch in New Zealand history. It lasted 151 days, and 22,000 New Zealanders were affected by the lockouts and associated strikes.
Now, a new album Trouble on the Waterfront explores some of the events, the attitudes, and the personal perspectives of that time through the medium of contemporary song.
Chris Prowse is pleased to present Trouble on the Waterfront, an album of musical snapshots of the 1951 Waterfront Dispute, featuring some of this country's finest musicians and spoken word contributions from well known radio voices.
Trouble on the Waterfront will be launched at a FREE public event at 2pm Sunday October 25 (Labour Weekend) at the Museum of Wellington City and Sea, including performances from The Waterfront Collective band and historical perspectives of the time from noted historian and author David Grant. Join them for an afternoon of music and history this coming Labour Sunday.
Trouble on the Waterfront is a collaboration of some leading New Zealand singers and musicians including Bill Hickman (The Shot Band), Eva Prowse and Tessa Rain (Fly My Pretties), Andrew Delahunty (The Windy City Strugglers), songwriter and performer Arthur Baysting, and Darren Mathiassen (Hollie Smith and Rhombus). In addition, the album features well-known radio broadcasters Sharon Crosbie and Tom Frewen, who added their voices to the track Media Watch.

Hi. I am looking myself too. If my thinking serves me right, there were 36 volumes in the full collection. I think I am 3 short of that. However I do have extras of some volumes. Some are not in the best of condition which is why I have collected more than 1.I have collected these from 2nd hand shops.I would be happy to do what i can to help. I also have a friend who would probably have the collection.Look forward to hearing back from you
