Thank god its over concert 1984 - what went on?????

I was only 2 at the time. so I can't help you.

Is it wrong for bands to strike a different pose in their publicity shots?

Hi dudes. So, I haven't been here for a LONG TIME apart from a brief spam about my bangin' new website business (findaband dot co dot nz for any homies out there). But the world is full of retards and NZMusic remains a bastion of informed opinion and eccentric crazies. The forums are a little scary to me right now with their complicated "not the same as it was before" format but I'm going to try and push through, and make this my online home once again.

....anyway sorry to bust into the conversation with this load of bollocks, just thought I'd you know, give y'all a heads up.

Findaband.co.nz

Hi guys,

LONG time since I was on here.

Just wanted to drop a line to say I've started a new site called www.findaband.co.nz and I'd love you to drop by and check it out. It's a live entertainment booking site for people seeking live music for weddings and events.

If you have a working band that is suitable for performing at weddings, corporate events and private parties, go ahead and register on the site and get a profile up. You will need photos and Mp3s (at least one) to have your profile activated.

Cheers and I hope this is ok and not too spammy Dust, Teina and team.

Coffee

I don't have a clue how to start a new thread anymore. When did this site get so hard to use?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Music-instruments/Instruments/Guitar-bass/Elect...

My black les paul standard is up for sale on a $1 reserve auction! Someone is going to walk away with a bargain on a genuine USA Gibson - don't miss your chance!

Sorry to get all in your thread there Wainui....

Guitarist wanted for band that is not retarded.

Permanent Rehearsal Space for Bands

Clockwork Studios in Ellerslie is a good space, and easy to get to off the Southern Motorway. Nick who owns it is a good bastard too.

Guitarist punk / pop-punk / pop-rock / metal

God....PLEASE don't start a band, nothing good can come of this....

First World Problems

The whiteness of this screen burns my retinas.

My fucking flatmate changed our Sky movies over to Sky sport so he could watch the fuckin cricket. I own the TV he watches as well as the couches he sits on as he watches it. Fuck that.

Single channel amps sound better but I need the convenience of a two channel amp to do what I want to do.

Trademe's success fee is 3.5% and quietly going up and that's a lot when you're selling a Gibson.

My flatmate (same guy) hasn't changed his sheets for over 6 weeks and his room and the area around it smells like breath. And not minty fresh breath. Old dirty breath. I hate that guy.

My boss doesn't do a fucking thing except groom Asian teenagers on myspace and watch old 70s music videos on youtube but I'm still earning about half what he earns. And I've made him sound cooler than he is.

Fight anthems

You again - shihad. Awesome. Imagine that riff...
Dun dun dun dun.....dun dun dun bee boing (x4)
Then the lights go up just as the first cymbals crash over and the drums start pummelling and there's Heather. Badoosh!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6JNN10FNWg just so you can put yourself in the picture. Fucking brutal.

Singer available

I am Sam Browne, 25, male, singer/guitarist based in Auckland. I am writing at the moment but would like to start working with a full band again. You can hear examples of my singing and playing at www.myspace.com/blackriverdrivenz . More songs will be added as I record them, there are two up at present.

Ideally the genres I am interested in are anything indie, alternative, rock'n'roll, alt country etc.
Strokes, Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams, Queens of the Stone Age, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, but I am open to other ideas as well.

The music on my page is simply arranged for acoustic but can be rearranged to fit a band sound.

I have a B.Mus, 12 years experience as a musician, 100s of live gigs experience, vintage 1967 Fender Twin and 1961 Vox AC30 amps, Gibson Les Paul and Protools recording rig. I have a strong, trained voice with a similar range to Chris Cornell and Maynard James Keenan.

Main influences are Neil Finn, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Elliott Smith, but also like Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Placebo, HDU, Leonard Cohen....

I'm happy to be singer/guitarist or just sing, whatever works.

Secret Shame

Oh fuck yeah. This was so ahead of its time. Loved the shit out of it.

New recordings...

by me. Sorry I hate to spammarise NZM with posts about this all over the place but I know the real NZMofos only use the bar these days so here's the message I put in the NZ music section:

I just thought the hardcore NZM peeps might be interested to know that I have another song uploaded if you're into that sort of thing. It's at www.myspace.com/blackriverdrivenz and is called "Seven Years". I've been writing for a while and have three or four more songs to record over the coming weeks - I guess I'll update this thread each time I do a new thing. Hopefully an album is not too far away. I'll also be performing my first original music gig in almost ten years on May 6th at the Kings Arms acoustic showcase "Undressed". I'm going to make all my songs on myspace available for download so please put them on your ipod and hopefully enjoy them! And share 'em round and everything if you like 'em.

Feel free to post thoughts and stuff, criticism or compliments are both welcome, it's just nice to know someone is listening.

Metal in NZ?

It wouldn't be a crazy idea to check out nzmetal.com

Stage Challenge Music Idea Please!!!

A fire dance (something a bit trance/rock/hip hop or a series of tracks),
- Concord Dawn would probably be ideal for this.

a mourning/newlife dance (probabaly something slowish - but with a bit of umph).
- Trinity Roots perhaps? or Jakob?

Also, does anyone know a recording of a Hornpipe done by a NZ orchestra/philharmonia???
- Nope!

Any ideas are appreciated!!

The return of the NZM mixtape swap

Yep I sure have! And the theme is colours!!!!

The return of the NZM mixtape swap

Ok ok I am more useless than you. Significantly. Happy?

The return of the NZM mixtape swap

Velocity if its of any recompense to you, I have not yet sent Joanna's CD. I feel bad, but better knowing she is almost as useless as I.

Has the future of music no future?

I agree - you'll get the job based on your personality once you get the interview. You'll get to the interview by submitting a CV that is best suited for the job (and you should change your CV and cover letter for every job you apply for), you'll get to the next stage by being friendly, communicative and confident in the interview, and you'll get the job if they like you the most. Not if you're the most skilled (that's for sure) or qualified (ditto). Hit Seek and go forth, young man.

80s glam...

Yeah the Shore is probably not where you want to be.....unless by 80s sleazy-glam you mean pastel polos with the collars popped.....on both men and women.....
