... and really really loud does NOT equal really really good. Best bands I've seen live probably have it set to 8 not 11.
Acknowledge the audience. Don't play with your back to them! ... unless you're John Paul Jones on the pipe organ - then, and only then, is that ok.

I'm not sure whether they have to be living to be inducted? If not then I imagine there'll be a posthumous induction or 2.
Fred Dagg?
At this years Silver Scroll Awards, 4 people will be inducted into the new New Zealand Music Hall of Fame. These inaugural Hall of Famers will be honoured for somehow shaping and influencing New Zealand culture in a significant way. They may be songwriters, composers, performing artists, or industry champions.
Anybody care to make some nominations for people who you think deserve to be in the NZ Music Hall of Fame?
Or predictions for this years inductees?

The Dukes Of Leisure are a 6 piece instrumental ambient rock band from Wellington. <!--break-->
Formed in 2003 (or 2004 - clear memory is difficult,) out of a circle of friends playing together in other bands. Membership waxed and waned, settling on 7 explorers finding their way without a vocalist. Songs formed, and the band played a couple of shows... then the bass player moved to Texas, and was replaced by another friend on bass... then the Texan returned and they recorded an EP with Nic McGowan as an 8 peice. More shows, indoors and out, in planetariums and bars. Texan moved away again, keyboard player moved on... more shows, more songs... the girl married one of the boys... more shows, recorded an album... currently being mixed while they play more shows...

Mention New Zealand music and Neil Finn is probably one of the first names to spring to mind. With a musical career that has spanned two of New Zealand's most successful exports; Split Enz and Crowded House as well as an acclaimed solo career, Neil Finn is arguably New Zealand's King of Pop.<!--break-->
Neil Mullane Finn was born on 27th May 1958 in Te Awamutu on the North Island of New Zealand. Neil's older brother Tim Finn was a big influence on Neil from an early age. Tim formed Split Enz in the early seventies and Neil immediately became a fan and began writing his own music. By 1975 Neil was supporting Split Enz and in '76 he formed the short lived After Hours. Soon after, Neil received a call from Tim asking him to join Split Enz.
Neil brought a fresh perspective to the songwriting, and he penned many of the band's major hits, most notably I Got You, which virtually catapulted the Enz from obscurity to international fame. It was the biggest selling Australian Single that year and received the "Song of the Year" award at the ARIAs, Australia's biggest music award.
After the Enz broke up, Neil, Paul Hester (Split Enz's last drummer) and Melbourne bassist/artist Nick Seymour created a band originally called The Mullanes. They moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and stayed in a cramped North Hollywood home while shopping for a record label, which inspired a name change to Crowded House.
After securing a record deal from Capitol Records Crowded House released their debut hit Don't Dream it's Over This reached #2 on the billboard charts and the rest is history.
Neil returned home to New Zealand in 1995 where he and his brother Tim produced their album Finn.
In 1996, Neil took part in ENZSO, the symphonic orchestration of the music. And not long after that Crowded House decided to call it quits. They did so in style with a huge concert for charity in Sydney, Australia on November 24, 1996.
The following 2 years Neil spent a lot of time in his basement studio working on his solo project, Try Whistling This. He recorded the album in New York City in December 1997 and released it in New Zealand in the following year.
And the Finn musical legacy now continues into the next generation with Neil's son Liam Finn forming Betchadupa and launching a solo career.
This history borrows extensively from Jennifer Liem's Neil Finn profile from the Frenz website.

The Bleeders are a punk band from Auckland.<!--break-->
Boasting a line up of musicians all of whom have had vast experience as part of the New Zealand punk / hardcore scene in such acts as, DSM, Evil Priest, Malcontent, Smooth Jimmies, Kid Nuisance & AOV. The Bleeders bring together a innovative sound, drawing influence from Punk, Hardcore & Rock.
Described by Real Groove magazine "The Bleeders bring it straightest, but that's no diss. They've got something boiling inside 'em that needs getting out." And yep that's exactly what they have done since their impressive debut performance in Febuary 2003. The attitude of "If we don't do it for ourselves, no one will", has seen them playing countless dates around the North Island as well as appearances in the South Island including international support slots for Epitaph & Fat Wreck recording artists Hot Water Music, Good Riddance, Strung Out and New York Hardcore legends Sick of It All as well as The Ataris (Sony) and the Hope Conspiracy (EVR).
In July of 2003 The Bleeders entered York Street recording studios and recorded their highly successful debut for Elevenfiftyseven Records A Bleeding Heart EP. Engineered by Steve Roberts. The Bleeders were also announced winners of the Space Coca-Cola Launch pad competion, which saw them complete a video for the single A Bleeding Heart.
October/November saw The Bleeders back on the road with a full national tour in support. A Bleeding Heart spent 12 weeks on the 95bFM top 10 and received good airplay on Channel Z and The Rock.
December / January saw the Bleeders on tour with Blindspott as well as securing a slot on the 2004 Big Day Out.
Funding from NZ On Air saw The Bleeders back in the studio recording the new single All That Glitters along with a video directed by Greg Page. All That Glitters has featured in the b-Net, Radioscope & C4 charts respectively.
