Also the name of the record label formed partly by Mike Patton that has the Melvins, Fantomas, Tomahawk, and Peeping Tom on it :)
cheers guys.
Thanks for having a listen.
Why and album rather than an EP? Mainly because there's enough material for a good album. The stuff on the myspace are the ones nearest to being done.
Thought I'd advertise here in case someone reads it and wants a band for a gig.
We're called Mind Vandal. We play modern rock, kinda like a cross between Shihad (old days), Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Sabbath, Ramones, etc
We're based in Wellington, but will travel.
the myspace is: www.myspace.com/mindvandal
To contact me email
email: management@mindvandal.com
cheers.
I'm seriously considering moving onto Cubase (is 5 or 6 they're up to now). Was in a studio recently where they used that (cheaper than ProTools y'know), and it looks pretty similar style to Cool Edit, but obviously better - multiple takes per track, VST plugins etc.
Anyone using Cubase that wants to offer an opinion?
Check that the record input on the windows recording mixer is set to the right thing - if it's set to Wave it will do what you describe
- You can get to it from the Options menu
Think that should work.
I saw Chicks on Speed once (BDO). Thought they alright.
so tempted to flag as offensive .... sooo tempted
There's no technical information on the site. I could guess by saying it might have something to do with grounding and electrical shielding, but it would probably be misleading.
I'm more interested that it seems to be powered by cereal
-> "This power processor is designed with bran-new ideas"
IMHO there's only one reason people keep coming back to forum sites such as these ... DEBATE!
"Did you hear that new song by that new band, nice isn't it?"
"Why yes, I think their new album will be superb"
"They surely are a fine band"
BORING!
Telling everyone that something sucks is bound to invoke a reaction.
So there. You all suck :P
Allows you to search and register your band name.
Having said that, you have to pay (it's only like $10US). And then I'm not sure how legally protected your band name is here in NZ. However any person or label searching this site would then see that your band name is in use, so might stop problems before they occur.
I did it for Mind Vandal, don't really know if it was worth it, but at least I know that name wasn't taken. I also did Google searches on the name to make sure.
yep, my username has changed once, twice? but still check reasonably regularly. Been a bit busy lately - end of year stuff y'know
Nice looking site :)
I feel like i want to post something informative, but I'd just be covering the same shit.
Summary:
Money Spent = too much
Money Earned = No where even close to enough
Reason for doing it = music is in the blood. feel compelled to create. who gives a fuck if i "make it", but if i do, then sweet. why keep doing it? for the shear fun of it. do i care what Robsta thinks: no.
So, I'm interesting what do you use this site for?
Finding out about Gigs?
Browsing teh forums and leaving your mark with a bigoted opinion?
Wiki Resource for finding out that obscure info about your favourite band? (or just some obscure niche band from the late 90's so you can impress people at the next party in Haitaitai or Devenport "Oh of course, Wendy House, I saw them at Bodega, no, the OLD Bodega")...
Some other reason?
There's been a bunch of debate on this already. Most people say the site layout is less usable.
I think it's the whole "changing of the guard" thing... The site changed, and some of those that were used to the old site just stopped visiting, and since then there haven't been many acquisitions of new regular users.
Well, let's put it this way. I know a few cops, and the biggest thing they say is that they see the same people over and over again. One guy in particular has a charge sheet that is over 100 convictions (for all sorts of stuff) you would've thought he'd be in prison for a fair chunk given some of the stuff he's done, but he's only had something like two stints, all up less than 2 years (i forget the details exactly)...
Apparently it's harder to actually convict someone than is currently believed by people ... i was surprised...
Band from New Plymouth a few years ago - Got some press for being all Henry Rollins / That guy from New York who used to piss and defecate on stage etc, whose name I can't remember, etc..
"The Goat Fucking Nun Rapers"
So should be there right now. But not gonna make it ... damn it....
Garr. I don't have my headphones with me.
