I wonder how many Kiwi bands have been the front 'page' review on here?
"One-man-band man and former Brunettes drummer Nick Harte's first DFA release is a 17-track, 45-minute compilation cherrypicked from two albums recorded for New Zealand's legendary Flying Nun, and it apes the scruffy, emotionally vulnerable indie that made that imprint famous. "
Well, it's all over so I got rid of the details.
We came second, winning us $1000 worth of Puma gear. A bit of a step down from a world trip for four, but at least now I can fulfil my long-held dream of forming a whites-only krumping krew. Burgundy tracksuits, oh yeah.
Thanks for voting!
So did anyone go to the gig at Mighty Mighty last night? Thoughts?
Good Laika have been my new favourite band for a while now, was great to see them live. Surprised to see Age Pryor doing so many covers considering he's just released an album.
it's not like you to regard economic growth as a pure measure of societal wellbeing.
was there nothing funny about 1950's America either?
Actually, the last guy was more 'Spinal Tap gone wrong' than Crue-like.
This guy is much more appropriate.
Things I love about his site:
1) the massive rant about how much he hates humanity and then: "On an unrelated topic Julys Archives are up."
2) that I just learnt I live in the same suburb as the infamous Lucifer_Sam
3) that I'm not sure I really do, due to the nearly unintelligible sentence construction employed in each post
jeez it was just a suggestion sunshine, you don't think china has any material to satirise?
or are you trying to avoid being blocked from this site by The Man?
Can't listen to any of the music but the site looks AMAZING.
The lyrics to 'Come to Taiwan' especially.
My guy is fucking H-Core.
He could only be the worst in the sense that Motley Crue is the worst.
So I reckon the Daily Show has a Kiwi writer. How else would Jon Stewart so accurately describe Whangarei as a 'cultural backwater'?
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Very tempted to click 'report as offensive' to this post. Roxette has great lyrics and I will not have anyone satirising, denigrating, or ridiculing them. Check it out and respect:
Hey, where's your work?
What's your game?
I know your business
but I don't know your name...
Hold on tight,
you know she's a little bit dangerous.
She's got what it takes to make ends meet
the eyes of a lover that hit like heat.
You know she's a little bit dangerous.
I WANT eyes that hit like heat.
ah, right. cheers.
that delete thing is strange - i was checking the box because i assumed i'd have to delete the original picture to put in a new one.
just me?
Um, it's not working for me. Trying to upload a gif at 49x49 and 4k big. Just says my changes have been saved and then keeps this old dunger of a pic.
Anyone else go to see this show in Welly?
It was amazing. And Domino is the sexiest guitarist ever to walk the face of this Earth.
A bit of feedback - I liked how when you clicked on '2 new' or whatever, the page auto-flicked down to the aforementioned new posts. Why has it stopped doing so?
Also, I really do like the new design in general, but the two major issues for me are the fact that the big black title/ad bar across the top of each page grates against the rest of the design tone, and a lack of segmentation/bordering on pages - posts and writing and symbols all just seem to be floating in a sea of white.
Oh, and how come 'usernodes' have started popping up on the 'recent posts' page?
It was a very limited music collection in my childhood, and some would say limited in terms of taste. Not me tho.
Cassettes I owned: Michael Jackson 'Thriller', Icehouse 'Man of Colours', Bryan Adams 'Waking up the Neighbours' (of which listening sessions would consist of 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You)' ad nauseum).
Parents' road trip music: Simply Red, Tracy Chapman, The Eurythmics/Annie Lennox, Hootie and the Blowfish.
Sister's music I 'borrowed': Supergroove 'Traction', Now That's What I Call Music 4, 30 Songs About Sex.
Hey folks -
I usually don't 'do' charities, and I especially don't do those 4 year old kids who are apparently dying of endometriosis for every person you fail to forward something to. Good
riddance I say. Less time sending emails more time recovering would do you good.
A friend of a friend has set up a super sweet deal website that helps
nail poverty. Best of all, us lazy Western slobs don't have to
actually do anything remotely hard. Just go to this website:
And you'll get the usual 'click on this to make money for someone'.
But in this case, you're making money for starving kids n' shit. And
believe me, it's really easy, I wouldn't be bothering if it wasn't.
Even if you don't stick around to help, these guys deserve recognition
for a very cool idea. Shame they're Aussies.
Well, I guess that answers my question. I don't even read pitchfork usually, it just makes me depressed. So there.
