True, Ward Lane aint bad, been pretty good to us the times we've played there.
Unfortunately the live venue scene in Hams has got progressively worse, there's jack shit all venues for heavyish or loud bands to play, you can hire the Diggers Back Bar out but that's nothing great especially now that they inforce noise restrictions. Sorry to say it but Hamiltons live scene sux!
Come on down to the "Shake The Lake" free concert @ Hamilton Lake this Sunday, March 19 featuring....

8Forty8 are an originals band, on this occasion we did a one off tribute show to one of our favorite bands that has given us much inspiration over the years! is there something wrong with that?
We opened the gig with original material also and it was very well received. Many of the greats have covered other people's material, eg Eric Clapton didn't write "I Shot The Sheriff" "After Midnight" or "Cocaine" it's nothing new for original artists to do covers!
Hey thanks very much, we're really glad you guys enjoyed the show. We've been receiving e-mails from people telling us how much they loved the gig, and that makes all the rehearsal and hard work worth it. We really enjoyed performing those amazing songs and giving people a chance to hear them played live. Thanks to all those that turned out and supported us, the crowd was amazing.
I'm happy to say that "Kashmir" has now been added to the set list for the Zep tribute show.
The Zep Tribute show at the Hamilton Gardens on Saturday 18th Feb 06, kicks off at 12.30pm and goes to 2.00pm, admission is "FREE" so be sure to write this down on your calender. Don't miss out on this opportunity for a free concert off classic rock performed by seasoned musicians with a true passion for Led Zeppelin.
You can now also visit at www.myspace.com/8forty8 and preview 4 tracks from the forthcoming album, including the "Out Of Mind" mix from "The Axe Attack NZ Metal Vol 1" CD Mastered at Studios 301, Sydney by Don Bartley.
Oh yeah, and i forgot to mention "Dio" a kick ass classic from the Holy Diver album.
8Forty8 will be rocking at Hamilton's 6Ft Under on Friday 9th December. They will perform songs from the forthcoming 8Forty8 album plus some classic covers by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, Megadeth and Soundgarden.
Actually Kashmir is an open tuning also, DADGAD, Jimmy's a genius.
Thanks Ronald, you have some good taste. Unfortunately we can't do When the Levee Breaks as it's in open tuning and we already have to juggle enough guitars. In the past we've done Kashmir as part of the Zep show, don't think we're doing it this time though but it's a great song.
I'm looking for 7 inch reel with1/4 inch tape, doesn't have to be new, just need it to try out an old Akai machine, any help would be much appreciated.

Hope this is some help.
8Forty8 are currently preparing a tribute set to Led Zeppelin that will be performed at the Hamilton Gardens festival on Sat 18th of February, covering all their classics including Whole Lotta Love, Stairway To Heaven, RocknRoll, Dazed And Confused, Since I've Been Loving You etc.. If you're a true Zep fan, this is a show not to be missed. Stay posted for future updates on this gig, it's gonna be a ripper.
// I can understand that with regards to Iron Maiden or Dio.
Firstly, i'm impressed you've heard of Dio, Ronnie James Dio has one of thee most powerful voices in Rock n Roll history. Those bands do use an evil image but it's nothing but gimmick, like with many metal bands, Ronnie is always involved in charity stuff etc.. so i very much doubt he's into that stuff at all in the real world. Rdor, what is your views on horror films?
At the end of the day, i think Christian music is about the message regardless of the style.
Hamilton musicians Simon & Nathan Koretz of the band 8Forty8, will be performing at G-TARanaki with Deep Purple legend Glenn Hughes for a mixture of Classic MkIII & IV Purple plus solo Hughes material.
