We've finally got our EP all completed and it's for sale and stuff. $10 + postage. There's a paypal link up on our myspace (http://myspace.com/fightingtheshakes), or alternatively you can PM me, or email fightingtheshakes@gmail.com about buying a copy.

It's 6 tracks, and we're all pretty proud of it. We recorded and mixed it all ourselves, with mastering from This City Sunrise's Samantha Sproull.

so like, buy it n stuff.

thanks

oh yeah, here's the first review of the EP to make its way out into the world, from Andrew Tidball at Cheeseontoast.co.nz

Wellington's Fighting the Shakes serve up six slices of energetic post-punk with this chocolate mud-cake of a mini album. What I am saying is, that I really like chocolate mud cake and I really like this. Equally. With enough hooks like whipped cream to perfectly compliment the dark rich chocolate goodness of the tearing angular riffs, infectious baselines and rat-tat-tat rhythms. Answer the phone - Fighting The Shakes are calling and they want you to dance like a mutha-f*cker. And eat cake. - AT

he picked up on our heavy bakedgoods influences.

I'm finding the whole blog+forum thing a bit awkward... seems like you'd be better to drop the blogs and simply have people post their bloggy thoughts on the forum... from what I've seen so far, most people are writing things in their blog that'd be relevant discussion threads.

a mighty fine question... no idea... sometime in the not too distant future though.. once our EP is done I guess... sooner rather than later I hope.. peopel always says the south island treats bands right

Dang, didn't realise we had a page. Shows how much attention I pay.

Speaking of shows, we're playing in auckland a few times this month... here's the lowdown.

Auckland - May 11th - Kings Arms w/ The Tutts, Motocade and Body Corporate
Auckland - May 12th - a house party apparently... still being sorted
Hamilton - May 17th - Ward Lane w/ white bird and lemons, the vacants, lookie loos, alps
Auckland - May 18th - Schooner w/ white bird and lemons, the vacants, lookie loos, alps
Wellington - May 19th - MVP white bird and lemons, the vacants, lookie loos, alps, the coshercot honeys, this city sunrise
Auckland - May 25th - Kings Arms - Fancy New Band w/ ????

So yeah, plenty of opportunities to see us if you're not in wellington and have even the slightest interest.

In related news, we're almost finished with our debut EP... hopefully it'll be more or less done by the time we're on the road. A completed track from it, People Would Say, is up on our myspace... http://myspace.com/fightingtheshakes

cheers!

TONIGHT! in wellington

This show is gonna be fucking awesome... and a bit of a downer, due to no more This Night Creeps, but still, I can't wait!

Fighting the Shakes are on first, and probably kinda early (for a welly show at least) to try and keep things from running til some ridiculous hour. So yeah.. come early if you want to see us.. probably on some time between 9:45 and 10ish

We have a small run of demo cds to give away too, so if you're keen for one, hit one of us up at the show

see ya there!

TONIGHT!!!

autistk : 22 July 2006 - 4:44am

aww shucks

thanks Blinkarooni.. you're, in quite large part, responsible for my journey down the lonely Poster Guy path

thanks to fran also! I'm glad it seems to be catching on in NZ a little more. I was just over in Melbourne (to see Death Cab OMG SO GOOD) and I gotta say, the posters there were shiiiiit. I was expecting some awesome poster party, but nooo.

NZ looks like it could scrub up nicely though.... by our powers combined!

autistk : 15 July 2006 - 3:18am

thanks man, I'm pretty chuffed with the new one... bit different from my others.

also, that email didn't seem to come through... mystery!

autistk : 14 July 2006 - 4:09pm

excellent thanks!
Lookin forward to seeing the rebuild... the site seems to have dropped off a bit as of late... which was a bummer as it was about as close to a wellington 'music scene' forum as we've got.

autistk : 14 July 2006 - 6:30am

oh for fucks sake...
I just remembered.. we also have some live recordings from our 2nd ever gig (with the present lineup) at Happy on Sat the 8th up on our Myspace page. They sound not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Happy's in-house bootlegging facilities are great!

*sigh* what a bloody shambles that post was. I should probably cut my losses and go to bed.

autistk : 14 July 2006 - 6:23am

Being decidedly subpar doesn't = unique. I'm not gonna mention who on that list I'm referring to, but there's definitely some of Wellingtons worst on that list

autistk : 14 July 2006 - 6:21am

Hello NZM. Long time no postingamessage.
Fighting the Shakes seem to be denied an Artists page on this site so we'll have to do this the hard way eh?

We're playing at Bodega Room 101 on July the 21st at Bar Bodega Room 101 with This City Sunrise and Tommy Ill.

Hoorah!

you know you can buy those little devices that plug in between the handset and the base of pretty much any modern phone, then connect a dictaphone to that.
they're pretty cheap.. I used to use one when I did music interviews for Tearaway back in the day.

that last comment sounded more like a troll than it shoulda.
let's blame it on the hangover and move along shall we
