Three kick ass Auckland bands combine - The Septembers, 29 Blackbirds & Soulsion

When bands The Septembers, 29 Blackbirds and Soulsion play at the Dogs Bollix on May 16th there’s only going to be one thing on their minds and that’s delivering an unforgettable night out for the gig going public.

Aiming for the 1-2-3 punch, these 3 kick ass live Auckland bands are combining for one night only to ensure this live experience will be something memorable.

The Septembers return to the Dogs Bollix, playing a full set featuring songs from their recently released 11 track debut album “Edge Of The World”. With tracks ranging from stomping power-pop to searing acoustic heartbreakers, dynamic front man Anthony Stretch and band deliver a passion filled performance that excites and demands your full listening attention. The band have gone from strength to strength over the last year, working with internationally renowned producer/engineer Rico Petrillo (The Verve, Blur, Supergrass) and recently completing a successful album release tour.

New outfit 29 Blackbirds join the bill bringing a fresh and exciting approach to the local scene. Fronting with a punchy combination of soul, jazz and good old fashioned rock, the band has already gained a loyal following on the live circuit wowing audiences with their relentless onstage energy and exceptional musicianship. The band features accomplished musicians from outfits Stylus (Painkillers & Gain Control), Tomorrow Comes In Silence (The Calm That Lies Beneath) and 5 Star Fallout (Say Goodnight). The 5 piece will be performing songs from their brand new debut EP “2AM”.

Opening the night with a whole bunch of flavour come Soulsion, playing party starting funk rock. Hailing from as far as Tonga and as close as Auckland City the band are currently back in the studio to continue work on their debut album. According to reliable sources this group is best seen up close, pumping soul into the dance moves you didn't even know you had.

Punk: World Ready To Be Roused By NZ's The Rabble

The Rabble, a three-piece band based on the Hibiscus Coast (HBC) dedicated to bringing you a brand of solid and unique Punk Rock n' Roll. This year the band have been busy in the recording studio, working on their second full length album The Battle's Almost Over.

Recently, the band shot a music video for the song This World Is Dead from the upcoming album. The song features Mark Unseen from the legendary hardcore punk rock band The Unseen, when he took time out in New Zealand between the end of the Vans Warped Tour and The Unseen's headlining tour of Europe.

With the release date of the album still to be announced, the band are currently working on plans for several international tours commencing next February, to encompass Canada, The United States and Europe.

The video for This World Is Dead will be released on the band's MYSPACE page within the next week, so keep your eyes peeled!
