My coolest memory of them is driving in a convertible on the freeway out of LA, listening to a compilation of NZ music I took with me. "Trippin" came on just as we passed the turnoff to the white trash mecca that is, like, The Valley, dude.
The Tom Bosley Experience is looking for a DJ or electronic musician to support us at our first Dunedin gig on August 19th. We already have one support act, Onanon, [almost] confirmed, and looking for a second one to bridge the gap between our different styles.
The Tom Bosley Experience is an electro-pop / ambient group with live samples, keys and vocals. We like to throw all sorts of styles and pop cultural references into a melting pot, but some points of reference would be The Orb, Lemon Jelly, Sola Rosa, Ween, Wendyhouse, Disasteradio, and the Butthole Surfers.

Onanon remind me of the 3Ds a lot, with some Loves Ugly Children and The Clean thrown in for good measure. A classic kiwi guitar pop band.

We're looking for a DJ or performer to fill the gap with some sort of electro-clash noise. Maybe a 1/2 hour set to open and another 1/2 hour between the bands.
The gig is at Arc and we'll be splitting the door take after paying expenses like the sound man and someone to collect money at the door. There is a possibility of a Christchurch gig too, but that's unconfirmed at this stage.
If you're interested, reply to this message or email me at peter-at-warpart-co-nz.
On 27 May, I posted this message:
http://www.nzmusic.com/news_more.cfm?i=2952
and ticked the box to have it submitted to nzmusic.com editors, as it's an announcment about an electronica compilation featuring several other nzmusic.com artists too.
The message was never loaded as site-wide news (like other record company announcements) and when it eventually made it onto my artist page, it was corrupt, as you'll see if you click the message link above.
Eventually I reposted the message without the "submit to nzmusic.com editors" box ticked and it loaded ok:

Could an editor please reconsider this for site-wide news, or remove the corrupt message.
cheers
Peter
Those asses at the Lotto shop sold me the wrong ticket again, otherwise I'd be writing the cheque right now!
Does anyone here have a recording of "All The Cars" by Breast Secreting Cake? It was on some Flying Nun sampler CD I think, which I used to have but lost my copy of.
I'd dearly love an mp3 of that song if anyone can help me out. Email me at peter-at-warpart-co-nz.
I just fell in love with this band all over again, I had a great time at the supermarket last night walking around singing "you sound like gentle waters running over drowning children, la-la la la" under my breath.
Cool, I'll look forward to hearing from you. Even if you just wanna play the one show with us here in Dunedin we'd love that.
Peter
Hello again, I was supposed to be meeting Glen again last week, but he didn't show up. We'd talked briefly about playing a gig together when the Tom Bosley Experience is down this way. We're looking at playing Dunedin, Chch and Wanaka in late August. Would the rest of you be into that? Or will you still be taking a break? I'm mindful of the fact that 'spring' means January here in Dunedin!
Dragstrip - I had the same problem, ended up phoning them and speaking with Teina. I managed to get my artist loaded that way. They're apparently very over-worked though, which is why mp3s don't get loaded.
Still a damn cool site though, isn't it?
The Morse Media number is in the book
cheers, I sent you my phone number a couple of days ago. I can give Glen a call at Radio One tomorrow night if I don't hear from him.
Looking forward to hearing your album!
Peter
Hey, do you have an email address or cellphone number for Glen from Onanon?
what's happening with Alpha Cast these days? New songs, upcoming gigs?
Nah, it's hard trying to get a response. I ended up looking up the phone number for Morse Media in Wgtn and calling them. That got it done, but it shouldn't have had to come to that, eh?
Still waiting on the mp3s I uploaded months ago, any progress on that? The last reponse said they'd hopefully be up in December or January.
(artist is The Tom Bosley Experience)
Congrats on getting signed to Capital, well done! Hope you're enjoying the Electrode comp
:)

How long does it usually take for nzmusic.com to load mp3s? I sent some two weeks ago but there's no sign of them on my album page. I remember reading here some months ago that no new mp3s were going to be added until a new host was found. Anyone know if that's still the case? I notice the links to mp3s near the bottom of the front page don't seem to ever change.
Do they have a website, or any mps, or even an artist page somewhere?
And too many NZ bands sound like total clones of overseas bands (I'm thinking of all those Blink 182 type bands) but still get an extra pat on the back for being from NZ. There's nothing to distinguish the likes of Goodnight Nurse from Good Charlotte or a band of teenagers from Poland who none of us have ever heard of but sound exactly like that too. If you're going to strive for an 'international sound' you shouldn't get any extra points for being local.
Does anyone know if the debut EP (which appears to be album length, according the tracklist I found on this site) is still in print? I've checked a few websites but can't see it anywhere.
Hot damn, thanks Ian, I've been wanting to see Golden Axe and Disasteradio for a while now. Thanks for bringing them to the South Island!
See you all next Saturday!
Peter

Hey, does anyone have the CD of "Trillion Shades of Happy" and would be willing to make me an mp3 of "I Love My Leather Jacket"?
