//He bears an uncanny similarity the the emperor in the first three star wars films dosen't
yeah, Pope Palpatine is a name i've seen pop up across the net in the past couple of days.
which is good, because you know I like my villians nice and stereotypical for easy recognition. Brian Tamaki is the best example - doesn't he just look like the first person who'd insist on a hollowed-out mountain headquarters?
thank god, no pun intended, i couldn't have stomached another "nice" pope. the catholic church desperately needs such a hard-ass bigot, in my opinion, so as the entire heirachy loses credibility and fades out of relevance.
i was rooting for weaselface from the start.
//i watch Strawdogs over and over again
is that the film that features the best quote of all time? something like "jesus.... i killed the lot of them"
//and did you actually do anything about it or are you just going to the gig?
nah, my band and crumb had done a couple of gigs together and when the robbery was reported in the paper i recognised it as their stuffs.
i remember opening up the dominion post one day and seeing pictures of some sweet as guitar gear... "holy hell, that's Aaron's stuff", says I, "what's it doing in the paper?.... under 'capital beat'?... aw MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!"
so yeah... see you there
//Nick Olivieri was a superior bassist
to whom, Alain Johannes?
no. fucking. way.
//to me its more like: a new zealand band comes halfway round the world to play in a shitty bar with no sound check, and then some coke head tries to start a fight with the singer.
mike, i'm a'proud of ya.
i got banned from that bar again, by the way.
I don't know how or when, but Extraordinary Machine, the cd sony were supposed to release 3 years ago, has been leaked in its entirety (all tracks AND artwork)

I went to both shows. ChCh was marginally the better gig, i think, although my opinion could be swayed by the westpac centre's lack of rain and duckponds.
Third row centre for ChCh. The setlist was fairly similar to NP's. ChCh got So Fast So Numb and So. Central Rain (!!!) where as NP got Turn you inside out, New Test Leper, Life and How to Live it.
I caught the motherfucking harmonica at ChCh! ha ha ha! it's a decent brand too. I've been doing my best practising at my new instrument, and although I don't know if i'm getting better, i am certainly getting louder.
New Plymouth i was front row but I was a little pissy at the distance between stage and crowd. When people started wading into the duckpond it looked more and more like a good idea so I went in for a couple of songs. weirdest experience to be floating along while watching your alltime favourite band playing a few meters in front of you. I didn't stay though, it was way too cold and the security up there were noticably angry with the swimmers, but i'd seen enough. Even though my jeans will probably smell of swamp for the rest of time, it was worth it.
My "before I die" wish was to see REM live, now that's done I'm wondering what to wish for next.
as for the Checks, they pissed me the hell off in ChCh, but in NP i was really digging it. I don't know if that's coz of them or coz of me - i'm willing to say a little bit of both :)
Bright Eyes were absolutely entertaining. I'd travel to see them live again, but I don't really want them hanging around in a CD player any time soon.
