For me the big day out is about being able to freely move about the place and check out a whole bunch of music you wouldn't otherwise get to see. The problem with having a massive band like Metallica or RHCP is the crowds are too big and it just becomes too hard to get from A to B. This BDO looks good because there are no real huge drawcards, should just be a good day of music/food/alcohol etc.

Winning Launchpad would be huge for us, we'd love for anyone to take the time to vote for us, it would be much appreciated. The prizes for this competition are brilliant: music video, appear in rip it up, play on top of the pops.

Hey that's a fuckin cool song. Nice work.

Hey I'll definetly go to the Rick's Bar gig! My band Redmore have played there, it was a bit of a laugh, tiny, dingey with a track-pants-old-woman pokey player hidden in the corner. You basically play to the bar as the stage faces it directly.

Look forward to hearing those recordings too!

ernyst : 28 May 2004 - 6:28pm

I'm in a band and looking at insurance options. I basically want to have my gear covered at home and at gigs, but so far I've found that insurance companies won't cover you at gigs, on tour etc.

Are there any musicians out there who could offer me some advice?

ernyst : 20 April 2004 - 6:28pm

Fervent Christians scare the shit out of me.

FORMAT: mini DV tape, DVD or Beta (no VHS) CD Rom will only be considered if the video is an animation. Quicktime preferred.

..........as their site says.

C4 recently played my band's video and we sent that in on miniDV and they converted it to beta.

Yeah, that's exactly it. What it comes down to is where you want to go with your music, this is up to the individual/band. Words such as 'market research' and 'product' tend to dehumanize the art behind music by bringing up images of fat men in suit and tie rubbing their podgy hands together. But money and organisation is an important factor if you want to do nothing but create music and therefore keep it sustainable. There's no harm there.

I'm just pissed off that Muse and The Mars Volta are clashing at the BDO! The two bands I really want to see.........

ernyst : 6 January 2004 - 4:21pm

Yeah, christ, for a minute there I thought you were serious.

ernyst : 15 December 2003 - 3:49pm

It would've been nice if you listed those that got funding, the nzonair site hasn't been updated yet.

ernyst : 30 November 2003 - 3:32pm

What do you guys think of animated music videos? I made a 3d animation this year for my band Redmore ( some screens at http://www.geocities.com/riffmonkey/ ) , it was a real mission planning each shot and timing it to the music.

ernyst : 29 October 2003 - 3:59pm

I guess as it's the early stages of C4 they have to see if they can stay afloat at the current rate. Maybe if the money's coming in they can start looking at more interesting shows and extending into the early hours.

That's something I really miss about m2, no music videos after coming home after a long night. 'was such a good way to wind down.

ernyst : 27 October 2003 - 3:31pm

Well, they could harden up the supposed 'rock' show for a start. They should be able to cram a couple of metal vids into that hour. C4's good from 10pm onwards. Before that, unfortunately, it's worse than Juice. I don't know if anyone's noticed, but Juice has stepped up, playing more rock etc.

They're both free... better than the void of music post-m2. It could be better though.

ernyst : 5 October 2003 - 4:39am

The presenters will improve with time no doubt. Look at Space, it was a tentative start for Jo and Phil and now they're fuckin excellent presenters. What I don't get though is that there were really talented presenters on M2 like Jane, Renee and Glen. Surely they must've applied? Anyways, so far so good I reckon. It just needs a more welcoming, homely set, it makes the viewer kind of uncomfortable watching presenters stand while we sit. And standing in a horrible white void makes it even worse. I know they're trying to be dynamic but yeah.... doesn't really work.

But yay finally we'll get to see some goddamn vids at long last! Good shit.

Who cares about Numeralis he's a f**king scumbag who wants to paint for a living. And by paint I mean sniff glue.

ernyst : 28 September 2003 - 12:27am

Yeah I'd rather they didn't come but that was for fear of ticket prices being pushed through the roof. Alas, tickets are apparently $95; same as last year which is fine by me. They'll still be fun to watch no doubt about it.
