*cries* yeah a guy I've met since then got to be a furry and dance on stage and he drove the band out to see Piha the next morning too. I would have loved to see Wayne paddling in the sea :o) this guy always meets his favourite bands - wish I knew his secret! It's not fair :oP

*sigh* wish they'd come back next year...

Belle-jewel : 5 October 2004 - 6:40pm

Yeah. Before this years BDO I sitting there thinking - damn! It's not as good as last year! But from what I've heard so far I'm thinking boy we were spoilt last year!

I also got told Green Day were a definite by the lead singer of Muse... I hope he was right as Green Day would probably convince me to go.

Did anyone see The Flaming Lips last year? Everyone so far has told me I was an idiot not to see them :o(

For those that are interested (if you don't already know) Chris played the whole of the Perth gig and Morgan Nicholls wasn't even onstage. Pluto are confimred as the support and apparently GA tickets are only available at RG and on liveinconcert.co.nz now.

The Perth setlist was:

Muscle Museum
The Groove
Citizen Erased
Ruled By Secrecy
Sunburn
Butterflies
Bliss
T.I.R.O

Nice to see Dead Star in there :o)

You have lunch at 7pm eh?

Belle-jewel : 29 July 2004 - 10:57pm

I used to be in Dunedin :o) (wish I still was sometimes) but I'm doing 2nd year back at Auckland uni.

Belle-jewel : 28 July 2004 - 1:41pm

Hehe did you find that info out from my livejournal? It's such a small world...

Belle-jewel : 27 July 2004 - 8:43pm

Yay! A thread about the Muse gig!

I am soooooo stoked that they announced the Auckland gig on the end of the Aussie tour (I like to think it was all our whining over at the Muse message board ;o)

And yes I'm getting rather worried. The first Brisbane show sold out in 11 minutes!!! The whole Aussie tour is now sold out in fact and tickets only went on sale on Monday :o0

Nothing on ticketek here yet tho...

Hey does anyone know any info on prices/venues for The D4 gig in Dunedin on 24th Sept? Think it was the 24th...

Belle-jewel : 7 July 2003 - 2:37pm

In Dunedin it'll probably be about $30 for students at the university and I'm pretty sure local school students would get in at the same price. Might even be about $25 but I'm probably hoping for too much there!

Yup ditto I think it's perfectly reasonable. I'd pay $37 to see either of those two bands alone probably! :o)

Belle-jewel : 6 July 2003 - 4:15pm

Belle-jewel : 5 July 2003 - 2:17pm

Had some friends who were going to go to the gig but apparently it sold out (Shepherd's Bush Empire probably holds about 1300) and touts were asking £30 for a ticket so the Datsuns are certainly going up in the world.

Belle-jewel : 5 July 2003 - 2:11pm

Out of interest what time did The D4 go on stage?

Belle-jewel : 1 July 2003 - 4:25pm

You can't get hold of their music just yet as far as I'm aware but they're working on a debut album which is destined to be released sometime in October. There's a minimal amount of info on their record company's site: http://www.siren-records.com

Also they're playing at the Empire Tavern in Auck this Saturday as part of the 5 bands for $5 which starts at 8. 48May and Soda are going to be there too. Can't remember the rest :oP

Belle-jewel : 1 July 2003 - 4:09pm

48May are playing at the Empire (in Auckland) this Saturday as part of the 5 bands for $5 along with Op Shop and Soda and obv 2 other bands who I don't remember.

Supposed to start at 8 and go on til 12.

Belle-jewel : 1 July 2003 - 4:03pm

Is The Edge not giving away anymore tickets because they just played Verona and zip. Perhaps I should have been more of a keen fan and listened to the Edge 24/7 but I'm insane enough as it is :oP

Belle-jewel : 28 June 2003 - 1:53pm

Wow! They'd better do a gig in Dunedin! Though you'd think local bands wouldn't forget us vast student pop down there!

Belle-jewel : 28 June 2003 - 2:11am

Seriously? Is that the only way you can get tickets to it? Meh! I swear I read on one of the ad banners on the Edge website something about starting queuing at 6pm? Can't we just do that and prove we're loyal fans and really want to get in? I also remember something about tickets costing $20 so you've got to be able to get hold of them somewhere *fingers crossed* on the door!

What about us poor Elemeno P fans that might not be fans of The Edge?

Belle-jewel : 19 July 2002 - 3:29am

Hah, well I'll answer my own post. Anyone who saw Space just now will know that Stellar* are playing a gig in London with The Feelers. YAY!

Don't know the venue yet...

Belle-jewel : 30 June 2002 - 12:04am

Just seen the news on the Stellar* site that they're playing a gig in London on 30th August with some other mystery NZ band.

Does anyone have any ideas who this other band is? Could it be The Feelers as they're supposed to be playing in England sometime this year...

Belle-jewel : 2 January 2002 - 12:41pm

Got this out of TNT magazine (travely type mag for those Antipodeans and Saffies you can pick up in London for all those who didn't know and probably equally didn't want to know ;o.):

"We're going to have to change our name, which is pretty traumatic," frontman Jon Toogood told Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper. "We've been in a band called Shihad for 12 years. Ok, so it's pretty dubious and it means holy war, but we got it from a David Lynch sci-fi movie when we were 16-year-old kids. When the whole thing blew up, we were like: 'Oh my God, we're called Shihad - what are we going to do about that?" Toogood said the new name was as yet unconfirmed. "But we're going to have to get one that everyone's cool with and then let the music make that name cool. I don't know if we're going to come up with an amazing name but, personally, all I want is a name that's simple."

I don't think they should change their name. It might sound like Jihad but it does not mean the same thing and any vaguely intelligent person would be able to distinguish between the 2 words and as someone pointed out Jihad means "struggle" and not Holy War.

Is it actually a real word or was it made up for the novel?

If people in America can't see that 4 Kiwi guys (kiwis? aren't they birds?) called Shihad are just making music and not trying to imply anything untoward to America by their name then they can come back to Britain and play some more gigs here in less dodgy locations so that I can get to see them play without too much undue risk in little old London town!
