It seems to be a successful retro band these days you have to turn your guitars to "clean", dress in blazers and scarves and play with no balls what so ever. So i'm afraid you guys are probably finished. Why don't you just quit now while you're ahead? Its all about sounding like the Yardbirds now, not Led Zeppelin.
I have to say BDO was better than I thought it would be. The Mint Chicks were the band of the day, but Rise Against and Le Tigre were fuckin good too. One band who I've never had any time for but was pretty impressed by was The Have. I thought they were just Datsun ripoffs judging by their first couple of singles but they seem to have started developing into something heavier and nastier. Speaking of heavy, Slipknot were a bit off a letdown, but the night was made a fuck load better by the Blues Explosion.
What I want to know is where are all 48May's fans jumping to their defence? Or are they not allowed access to computers until they hit their teens?

They only write songs with 3 maybe 4 chords, all the same speed,

Falter are terrible. How can anyone say that they are good. its watery crap. wheres the thunder? My sister janes bought it for me for my birthday (probably because it was the cheapest thing there) and i got rid of it straight away. it had two remixes on it! why? they are exactly what nz music doesnt need.

The Fanatics show just what is wrong with the NZ music scene. They are utter and complete shite, and don't even deserve a nomination at the 2005 Music that sounds like excretion Awards. Has anyone here seen them live? They are a fuckin joke. Heres a rough guide to making a song like the Fanatics:
Step 1 Get a tinny little electronic beat.
Step 2 Add some beginner guitar lines
Step 3 Yell a couple of words over the top.
Step 4 Send it to bfm and watch them lap it up.
It seems the shitter your band are, the more indie cool you are.
