CapitalRecordings : 6 August 2005 - 1:28am

11.30 according to benge. it's free too.

CapitalRecordings : 8 July 2005 - 12:00am

the 'drop' in their name is used as a verb, as in "dropping a fat freddys" (ouch) so i don't think the possessive comes into it... or out of it.
eeww... 'cid :-/

CapitalRecordings : 4 July 2005 - 5:10pm

what a retarded thread.
what sort of dimwit cares about skin colour except as a means for re-enforcing stereotypes?
you've been living in Australia too long Dotdash, please come home before you start doing the usual Aussie thing and calling any non-caucasian "black fellas".

CapitalRecordings : 20 June 2005 - 9:09pm

"Scene hopping fucks? Didn't you just sign two of Auckland's most fashionable artists? "
:-D
and who would they be exactly? muwahahahaaa!
and Geekboy, when are you back down again for Good Luck? we should catchup...

CapitalRecordings : 19 June 2005 - 11:17pm

"the same Zander that sold up and went to the UK a couple of years back, failed miserably and returned to write for such high class magazines as the AA mag "Directions" ?"
writing for mags like "Directions" pays the bills. (you know, those things grown ups have to pay...)
being a freelance in NZ is not as much fun as it might seem... like moving to the UK.

CapitalRecordings : 19 June 2005 - 4:42pm

i thought it was alright... for a disposable bit of fluff to read over brunch anyway. it didn't make me spill my coffee or cough up my scambled eggs yesterday lunchtime.
it reeked a bit of "instant scene - just add article", but that's not a bad thing... and AK came off as being full of scene-hopping sad fucks, but that's not a bad thing either. or inaccurate ;-)
bianca zander knows her music, she's not some sad little J2 trying to make a name for themselves.

CapitalRecordings : 18 June 2005 - 1:07pm

agreed.
had to fuck off to work after 20mins but what i saw was demented genius.
they had me at the sperm suits and the clapping-acapella opener... ace!

CapitalRecordings : 11 June 2005 - 3:22am

maybe.
the things that really shits me about CD copy-controlling though mate is that it's very very expensive to do, so it's effectively become a tool that only the majors can afford.
and honestly, neither of our disc manufacturers have exactly recommended it either.
it's a shitty situation all 'round though, agreed :-)

CapitalRecordings : 10 June 2005 - 1:42am

and i say "sucked!" if you have to listen to breakfast radio :-)
clifford, blue and the party animals are much more fun at that time of the day.

CapitalRecordings : 9 June 2005 - 2:49am

i've never had any joy with them using iTunes on PC.
they often won't work in car CD players either.
as a gesture, copy-controlling CDs is as effective on downloading as pissing in the ocean.

CapitalRecordings : 7 June 2005 - 7:12pm

hey mate, love your work (and charlotte's too of course), but why'd IP get shoved back to 11pm?

CapitalRecordings : 3 June 2005 - 11:16pm

"infact- capitalrecordings when is Disasteradio/the inkling/montano coming out?"
eeek! don't ask those sorts of questions... not unless you're buying breakfast ;-)
they're all down for late june to early august.
bam bam bam.
and you can add albums from the illphonics, die! die! die!, and definite & bling for august to the end of the year too.
ish ;-)

CapitalRecordings : 3 June 2005 - 11:11pm

solid looking tour, nice one. might even have to shimmy along to the oprey for that.
will you be hitting the road with them?
and jackie, please call me jas, being called 'capital' is even wierder than being called 'smiley' :-)

CapitalRecordings : 3 June 2005 - 8:15pm

aaww, no show without Punch though is it? ;-)
where's Zip?

CapitalRecordings : 1 June 2005 - 3:59am

i like 'em all, camilla and nick especially, and also charlotte who does a lot of the production work as well.
agreed that gayford needs to get his tongue out of p.diggs buttcrack, but jane's withering looks seem to be wearing him down quite nicely.
C4 is a fucking god-send for labels like ours and for NZ music in general, and i think all of the team at C4 care a lot otherwise they wouldn't have put up with the until-recently iffy facilities and mcjob wages.

having done it a few times for interviews, i'm of the firm conclusion that being on TV is a shite job and being a music video presenter is the shitest of shite jobs.
anyone brave enough to want to have 10lb added to their faces everytime they go to work gets props from me.

CapitalRecordings : 22 May 2005 - 9:29pm

So So Modern. esp when they've got their dancers going on...

CapitalRecordings : 20 May 2005 - 1:15am

slam : fuck off telling me what to think until you run your own label... or your balls drop, whichever happens first.
anyway, it was a fairly glib remark. there is a wellington sound in as much as there isn't... trees falling in the woods with no-one around etc... fuck this, where's my bong?

CapitalRecordings : 19 May 2005 - 8:12pm

mmm, i liked that "i'm on fire" sounding one too.
it's a debatable point and quite crappily parochial, but i def feel that PF capture a real *wellington sound*, far moreso than FFD or even Trinity Roots did... but yeah, this fog is fucking spooky, i shant be going out on the moors this evening.

CapitalRecordings : 14 May 2005 - 1:32am

he's really impressed me in all the interviews i've seen this last week or so.
but i agree, irony is a stupid basis for a belief system. and it sure as shit has no place in music either.

CapitalRecordings : 12 May 2005 - 5:27am

yeah, bit of a score indeed. it's getting mastered at Abbey Road too, but props where they're due, it's all down to andrew, mikey & henry getting off their skinny white arses and setting it all up.
nice work on "Peggy-Suess" too mate, reckon you can ship gold in a week though? ;-)

CapitalRecordings : 12 May 2005 - 1:18am

"Bloody boring coma music for potheads"
sssh! f'fuck's sake, no one's supposed to mention that! :-D
i don't think it's that boring... it's just Dallas' voice has a *laidback quality* to it, he even managed to make "Dust" sound downbeat when it actually steams along at a good 130bpm...

CapitalRecordings : 11 May 2005 - 11:03pm

"BTW, is the Charlie you mentioned in UK an ex-Wellingtonian who now runs a shop called Scenario Records in London?"
nah, different guy, mike.
that's young charlie diamonds you mean, the one that vishal got a job at scenario. he's living back in welli at the moment. the other charlie is the guy who owns/runs vinyl junkies in berwick street and handles all the FFD stuff thru the UK.

CapitalRecordings : 11 May 2005 - 3:45pm

agreed, those guys are a textbook case of How To Get It Right.
but even i never thought they'd outsell Shihad like that.
and agreed with Smithies SST article, one of the best pieces i've read in recent times, great photos by Mealie Handscomb as well.
it's all such a big warm fuzzy, i'm off to vomit my ring out...

CapitalRecordings : 11 May 2005 - 1:53am

"mates rates and a box of beers..." ??? fuckin' bargain! where do i sign up?
it's all bollocks.
the fanatics shot their latest video in tokyo, die!die!die! recorded their album in chicago and it's getting mastered in london, the inkling album is getting mastered in sydney, all our vinyl gets pressed in california... we're all just more global in our outlooks, possibly thanks to almost every currency being piss-weak next to the mighty pacific peso at the moment, but i see guys in workboots & hardhats drinking lattes it warms my heart.
is that what this thread is about? i have no fucking idea ;-)

CapitalRecordings : 7 May 2005 - 1:44am

yeah, i know your bro quite well, i'm a good friend of christopher 'they call me' tubbs from 'round these parts.
and good (sound) advice (haha), i just e-mailed hame.
cheers!
