Direct from Osaka, Japan!!!
THE KING BROTHERS

THURS 3RD MAY 2007 - SAN FRANCISCO BATHHOUSE

Hold onto your hat and get ready for one of the most over-the-top rock n' roll bands of all time. Hailing from Osaka, Japan and weighing in at a combined weight of nearly 300 lbs. - the KING BROTHERS!

Combining the elements of every vital era of rock n' roll music and then demolishing it, the KING BROTHERS approximate the sound of the Germs backing Howlin' Wolf with his hand caught in a garbage disposal.

Few live acts make me drop my beer and when The KING BROTHERS played Auckland, New Zealand a couple of years ago they did just that and left a trail of blind worshippers in their wake, setting rock'n'roll music and anything else in their path on fire.

This incredible live act not only make Guitar Wolf sound like Belle and Sebastian but they take the blues into primal scream territory, and live they put it viciously in your face.

For better or worse, you will soon be able to divide your life in half - a time before you heard the King Brothers, and after. Oh, it's gonna be explosive. Fucking explosive. You can count on it.

tetsuo : 10 March 2005 - 5:16pm

this sat night (12th mar) - indigo - absolutley free
featuring John Oblivian (timeless sounds / new zealand)
Dylan Oblivian (pro drag / chandeliers)
Brendan Oblivian (dome / hasselhoff experiment)

this will be a night of nostalgic '60s garage punk with the use of lo-fi equipment. if you don't know who the Oblivians are, few bands sound as possessed by the belief in the power of rock & roll. Like similarly veined groups the Cramps, Tav Falco, and the Gories, the Oblivians often sound deranged in their preservation of the raw shaking beat of pre-Elvis manic and dark blues.

umm, yeah, it's a tribute night of sorts, we have a swag of songs and it's also the first time Knife Fight (thats us and we'll be gigging as such soon) will be seen on stage.
we'll be playing from 11pm until our beer runs out.
DJ Fraud is gonna play some tunes from about 9pm.
so come along çause it'll be fun and don't forget it's free, FREE, FREE!!! (i'll stop ranting now)

tetsuo : 14 December 2004 - 4:03pm

what i want to know is who was it that took a shit on the stairs at the same xmas function? thats funny.
a bunch of fuckin' apes (no racial slur intended) beating up a drunk guy isn't. thats just chickenshit.
ironic that people who talk shit for a living can't handle a few words thrown at them. what's wrong boys, can't handle the truth?

tetsuo : 26 November 2004 - 5:19pm

no, it's based Shinya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo - The Ironman sci fi movie from 1992. very good movie though the sequel, Tetsuo II - Body Hammer, was far superior. kinda like a cyberpunk version of the incredible hulk except this guy doesn't turn green, he mutates into metal and his body parts turn into weapons.

tetsuo : 26 November 2004 - 2:55pm

dear schmash,
can you please say your rant to their faces. and when you do, can you please take a photo and post it somewhere on here, cause i'd love to see it.
one must ask the question "why the hefty doorcharge for a not so hefty gig". sommerset and the bleeders played last night at almost half the charge and i bet they didn't have their feet nailed to the stage. maybe the D4 should change the name of their latest single to "sooky bum" and make the subject matter introspective.

tetsuo : 27 September 2004 - 4:18pm

i went. the first band, who were they? semi lemon cola or something.......shit, how did they get to play. they were fuckin' awful. then the 3d's came on and blew the roof off. then nirvana came on and played alot off bleach. they seemed tired and kurt threw his guitar in the air. woo hoo.
it was $25 and should have been a 3d's concert with nirvana supporting, given their performance.
but i have no regrets as i got to sit in the same area as silver and other push pushers.

tetsuo : 20 September 2004 - 3:54pm

i went to school with a guy called wayne kerr. there is also a plumber whose last name is pipe and he has a son called dwayne. yes, dwayne pipe the plumbers son.

tetsuo : 24 August 2004 - 4:27pm

$42 eh? ummm the datsuns or bonnie prince billie?

tetsuo : 24 August 2004 - 4:15pm

agree with you on the endorsement front. but in this day and age i think they do have benefits. it gives the underagers a chance to learn the aspects of a gig, performance and soundcheck.
in terms of schooling the kids for when they develop into a working band, i can't really knock 'em.
competitions are flawed, no matter what, but at the end of the day, who cares who wins. those bands have played a gig and they're one step further away from being shit.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 6:37pm

//the instigators of punk rock, took the cheap discarded instruments of the generation before them and put them to a use for which they were never designed.

punks played guitars as guitars didn't they?

// just as the guitars of the punk rockers weren't intened to be played with so much distortion and anger.

their intention was distortion and anger, fully, though the real anger was through the string of invective portrayed through their lyrics which was also spurred on by disco. whats that about knowing your history?
guess it comes down to personal opinion really, doesn't it.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 6:17pm

i guess so. if you want to rip someone off, make sure it's obscure so people think you're a genius.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 5:50pm

lena, what is your opinion towards my comments? you're the one i've been dangling this carrot for.
are you trying to say that your involvement with music is based on completely 100% original ideas or are you saying you're not a court jester.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 4:41pm

girls playing guitar in rock bands can only play the bass.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 4:25pm

// Most of the problems with the bands that get dissed on these forums stem from the fact that they don't know their history, and instead are more than happy to try and emulate the sounds of the present without visting the sounds of the past.

isn't this also part of the process of the evolution of music dragstrip? by the time a band emulates another, the emulated band is part of history.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 4:21pm

sorry, techno was the disco of the nineties. not original. not only that, but the "music" [ahem] contained samples. definately not original. i support your comment of "give me retro any day" over listening to techno, but that kinda supports the argument (my argument) that all music is over rated. we have to make the decision of choosing something from the crap thats on offer, making our own music for our own enjoyment so no-one can give a critical opinion, or smashing up our stereos and watching t.v.
lets just accept it for what it is - entertainment. musicians are the court jesters of these modern times and deserved to be laughed at.

tetsuo : 28 July 2004 - 3:55pm

what a truely enlightning forum. i'm soooooo glad i tapped into this one. why don't we drop the NZ from the title and take it to the bar, because really, music in general is over-rated as no-one is doing anything original. it's all rehashed retro bullshit and has been that way for a few decades now.

tetsuo : 4 June 2004 - 3:59pm

i had the fortunate mishap to see the pope reprimanding bush on the telly last night. haven't see Herr Bush so uncomfortable. it took the pope about 40mins to read a page of his speech between dribbles, and i watched him read about three of them before i changed the channel because i was in pain from so much laughter. after that telling off, i bet you bush is shitting himself!!!
a great sequel to the breakdancing footage earlier in the year.

tetsuo : 4 June 2004 - 3:39pm

post punk.......hmmm, i thought that was garage rock.

tetsuo : 3 June 2004 - 8:55pm

'punk' was coined back in the 50's / 60's and it was that poor lonely white guy in prison being used like a bitch. then in the 70's it turned into angry, unemployed teens that didn't want to live past 21, couldn't dress themselves and couldn't play an instrument .
somehow it developed into a movement then green day commercialised after it was well beyond it's 'best by' date.

tetsuo : 3 June 2004 - 6:27pm

tetsuo : 3 June 2004 - 4:57pm

tetsuo : 3 June 2004 - 4:43pm
