yeah yeah, I know! ... live "Count To Six" has kept speeding up and up ... now that we've gotten the poppy version out the way, we're considering re-recording it at super-speed for the fabled "Vocoder Album" ;)
hehe ... blame it on the drummer ... we had another newish track in the setlist but he completely forgot how to play it!
I'm sure we'll break the 30 minute mark for a set one day! ;P
Has to have one of the best NZ showings ever ... 3 singles in the Top 40!
Steriogram are at #19 with Walkie-Talkie Man, The Finn Brothers at #31 with Nothing Wrong With You ... even that Daniel Bedingfield twat (who's kinda Kiwi) at #23 ...
Quite cool :)

also, if yr supposed to be such a big fan how would you not recognise "99.9" from their recent album "Send" (the song you refer to as the "lager, lager, lager" one, which opened the show)???
"disappeared after a 30 minute set,no doubt staying true to the punk ethos of short'n sharp..."
WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU SMOKING???!!! the set + 2 encores was over an hour!
you don't mention the 5-Song encore of "Pink Flag" tunes either (Surgeon's Girl, Strange, 106 Beats That, Lowdown & Pink Flag) Did you walk out after their main set or something???
As for your rambling about the "re-tuning" before their set ... have you EVER been to a gig before??? the changeover only took around 30 minutes, which isn't exactly unusual.
Cheers, from someone down the front who saw a few sad 40-year olds slamming into people, but was generally too busy doing something called "dancing" along with all the other people far too weedy to ever make any "first-fifteen" ...
so it's definitely @ Galatos NOT the Regent (like it says on the tickets)???
Hey Kash! long time no hear ... well, soberly anyway!...
e-mail me @ vocoder@paradise.net.nz ... and no I haven't taped over all those Monkees episodes (like I would do such a thing?!?!) they're still around!!!
we're playing Feb 28 @ The Cross with Devil Gate Drive and The Users ... and we're also doin an Indigo Tuesday on March 16 ... so hopefully you can make one?
blah blah geetar o'coder :)
... it came out f'n cool ... recorded and mixed in 1 day and that fat-sounding?!?! excellent!
This Friday November 7th at the Cross Bar, Abel Smith St, Wellington the semi-human / semi-machine combo CHERRY release their 4-track EP "Line It Up" via Rock-O-Tronic! Records with support from THE BLUE SET & TAPEMAN.
Entry is $10, which includes a free CD to the first fifty punters. Their highly spunky Cherry t-shirts will also be on sale at the event.
Recent comments have compared the CHERRY live set to Ween, The Cramps, The Pixies and twisted 50’s doowop.
They actually like 60’s garage, 70’s New York pre punk, glam, rockabilly, bubblegum and Peter Posa. Back when he was still drinking.
(In reverse order.)
…like pissing on an electric fence, you’ll need a lobotomy and a shower when it’s all over…” THE PACKAGE
sweet ... what's the next single gonna be??? Think It Over? Slight Imperfections? I actually think I heard the latter song a few weeks back in a store in Wellie :)
Damn straight! ;) ... hey what are Leonard up to? sent through an e-mail to James about maybe doing a gig or two next month but didn't hear back (probably my crap work e-mail!)
... add to that their versions of "White Man In Hammersmith Palais" and "Police and Thieves" - and as for their version of the Velvet's "What Goes On" (especially with the incredible backing vocalists at the recent Indigo show .. ;) ...)
PS: I heard they've been playing the Undertone's "Teenage Kicks" in their last few shows ... hopefully they'll pull that one out at the D4 show!!!
Thanks for that ;) ... apparently our take on Wire's "Ex Lion Tamer" is pretty cool as well ... we occasionally pull out a "noise" version of Beat On The Brat if we want to annoy people ... :)
Whigs covers?! f'n cool! ... unfortunately they're playing Wellie on the 31st of Oct and I can't make it :( ...
Hell yeah! SO looking forward to this show :) ... possibly won't beat seeing McLusky at Reading last month but it should come pretty bloody close!!!
Cheers guys!
Just back in NZ after my european excursion (incl. the Reading Festival ...), we'll have to hook up again for a sequel!
Cool! ... Add in a version of "Here" or "Shady Lane" and it'll be perfect!!!
Added a tour diary to the Vocoder site with lots of photos of the other bands :)

Good luck on the conversion process ... Leonard doing "The 15th" or "Outdoor Miner"? Fuck Yeah!!!
I missed out on picking up a copy of yr album as well so we have to work out some type of deal!... tho' I know it well enough as I borrowed it from Alex when it came out (something I realised when I was singing along to "Think It Over" at Ward Lane ...). E-mail me on vocoder@paradise.net.nz so we can work it all out :)
...and yeah, we HAVE to do this all again, haven't been involved in such a fun musical thing for a very long time!
PS: Alex probably won't want me saying what it means ... it came out of a very warped conversation me, alex and morgs were having on the way up to Palmy ;)
hey, you deserve it! been enjoying listening back to my bootlegs of Ward Lane and Indigo ... especially "What Goes On" ;)
How's brad goin' with the distribution? it's about time that EP made a few stores ...
Yeah Leanne, I'd totally agree ... best gig in a very long time!
It extremely rare you get 4 bands playing possibly the best they've ever played, with great sound, to an enthusiastic crowd ... one of those nights where all the planets aligned (or some other hippy BS! ;)...).
It was a great way to end a very cool little tour!
of couse I can manage that ... I've got a lot of interesting items tho' (about 8 or 9 Tom Waits vids for a start) so maybe I could just make up a special compilation or something? :)
