Indigo : 19 February 2004 - 7:38pm

Due to Mother Guru not willing to take the risk to cross the, ummm, tumultuous Cook Strait, they notified us at 10am this morning to say they wouldn't be playing tonights advertised show. So, tonight will be a one off Rock Cradle Friday with Mikazi 3 and DJ Ladyfinger.
Entry is free and there will be $3 Macs Gold Handles.
If your in town tonight and you like your rock at no cost then come and support the band still willing to play.

Indigo : 13 November 2003 - 8:26pm

According to Monkey Puzzle:

"I haven't been able to ring either as my whole phone and internet
service was suspended."

Perhaps Monkey Puzzle would like to talk to the bar, by phone or email.

Indigo : 13 November 2003 - 6:30pm

I'd suggest Monkey Puzzle get their facts straight before making press releases.

Oh, we are all so quick to judge and dis off. Where's the positivity? Why is this topic soooo hot?
You've made an interesting point Heather, but from identification that garage rock revival (D4/Datsuns/Strokes/hives/white stripes - stretch that genre) is a fad, realistically with 6-12months left in it before decline. Obviously, the music leaders (such as those on this forum) and pioneers are getting tired of this fashion. But too stretch it to the quest for uniqueness within guitar based riff driven music (ie. Rock, rawk, metal) is a bit cruel.

bands take time to develop, and continue to develop. that's what historically sets a good band/group of musicians apart and allows longevity. Why do we want to crush a burgeoning local rock scene in Wellington (and CHCH and aucks and other places, although I can't speak for those places) when after a 3-4 year lull in real topclass quality, due to passing of the guard, especially due to migration are so many on this forum in under a day wanting to pioneer and preempt a downfall, just when potential rewards for the current local headliners are on the horizon.

Just an idea, CHERISH and help nurture the talent around you. Even if it's by seeing the gig or even thinking positively about NZ Music

I'll leave my rant on one note, that will get you all going, if something else hasn't yet

NEW ZEALANDERS DON'T HAVE TALL POPPY SYNDROME, ITS WORSE THAN THAT,
WE SUFFER FROM PESSIMISM AND SETTLE ALL TOO OFTEN FOR MEDIORCRITY.

p.s. I won't be able to respond till tonight, but will be online all day.
p.p.s The accelerants play rock cradle at indigo tonight. Or are they passe too?
;-Q (tongue in cheek)

What a great gig it would've been? full details anyone? reviews done/online.

Hopefully there will be an IMNZ gig in Welly soon, few good record companies down here.
What does anyone think of IMNZ, or the indies collective? The role and voice of non-major multis been unrecognised for too long.

ATOMIC presents 24 Hour Party People - TONIGHT - Indigo Bar, Wellington

'24 Hour Party People' is a night devised by the ATOMIC DJs Bill E & Cling. Sure, we stole the title off the song, the book & the movie, but all of those three should give you some idea of what to expect musically. It is not, however, a strictly Factory records night (tho' that might be an excellent idea), rather a celebration of alternative pop music from the mid-80s on, through Madchester & baggy, a touch of US grunge, Britpop etc etc. 9pm-3am

THOUGHT SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED

The pains of first floor tenancy. But have you seen the price of ground floor tenancies! :-)
Best advice: ring before, and we at Indigo anyway are more than happy to carry you, your wheelchair, your possesions up the 1 flight of stairs.

Watch this space though, hopefully within 12 months, it'll all be heaps easier.
