Who do you endorse?

Jemma : 19 October 2004 - 7:02pm

Hi! I had one with Alex the Kidd built in, too. I don't know if you've found one yet or not, but my work (video store) is going to be selling all ours in a couple of months or so...all our ex-rental Segas etc for probably about $20 or something. I don't really know anything for sure, but if you're still needing one then :)

There's so many different things I'm looking for that I'll save space and advertise in one post. I'm a female vocalist from Auckland. Dedicated only please.

1) I'm looking for a covers band, to do gigs around Auckland. Bic Runga, Crowded House, Radiohead, Fur Patrol, No Doubt, that sorta thing...and if you're a bassist with a PA, I REALLY want to hear from you.

2) I'm looking for musicians who'd be interested in starting an original sorta poppy-rocky-folky sorta band, kinda like Goldenhorse, the Brunettes, Fang, or with jazz/latin influences, or if you're into anything heavier, that's fine too...I'm interested in trying anything at the moment.

3) Again, looking for musicians to start playing jazz/latin stuff with...just mucking around with jazz standards and stuff...I've got a drummer who I think would be interested in playing too, but I'm not really looking for someone who's really jazz-smart and wants to gig straight away...I've trained in jazz before, but this is more so I can get more comfortable with it in a band kinda environment, at this stage.

Please e-mail me at everydayheavenly@hotmail.com if you're interested! Thanks a lot. :)

That's exactly the band my drummer and I have, but our bassist moved away with all our gear...I'm a female vocalist, are you still looking for someone?

Jemma : 17 December 2003 - 3:41am

Holy, Nath!!! I fully saw your post just now and thought "Man he sounds interesting, that's EXACTLY the sort of stuff I'm interested in and I'd love to see if he's interested in getting together, and I love his screenname" and realised you're my drummer!!! That's crazy shit!!!

Hi,

I sing but my covers band has fallen apart due to our bassist moving with our equipment. E-mail me everydayheavenly@hotmail.com

Mine was No Doubt in '95 or '96, I forget...at the Powerstation (now The Oracle) in Auckland. I went with my friend and her Dad, and I couldn't believe how loud the music was...like, the opening acts...but it was very exciting, I really got into No Doubt after that :)

Hey, me again ;]

I don't think it's so much that they want recognition as in needing attention, but if you're writing/playing good music then you should share it so more people can hear it and have a good old time and maybe find something new they never knew they liked ;) I mean the more well known you are, the more people are gonna hear your music.

And it's always nice to get recognised for working hard and doing a good job. Whether it's recognition like a Tui, or recognition that you've made someone happy by doing what you do, eg by hearing from some little 19 year old girl who goes by the name of Jemma, that Riverhead gets played on repeat to help her sleep at night. ;] (album on repeat, not song...that'd evoke some weird dreams) 0:)

They're brilliant. It's just a loophole in the system in an effort to be fair, that is totally unfair.

Jemma : 27 April 2003 - 2:30am

m2 was doomed 'cause it cost too much money to keep going. and arrgh at those free adverts - silly little men telling us to shop at their porn sites in high voices. argh.

you need m2 broadcast live on the net or something, so it'd cost less. not that it'd work on my computer very well. but still. little steps...like a radio station? nah I love my m2. or even an hour of m2 a week would be good. and supposedly TVNZ have plans for a condensed version of m2 anyway, or something...anyway off my m2 rant.

Jemma : 27 April 2003 - 2:25am

Yeah TV4 sure are picking up on TV2's loss. Although any timeslot is better than no timeslot at all. And as long as they play GOOD music...the bad thing is I get really bad TV4 reception...

Jemma : 27 April 2003 - 2:21am

lol. thanks for the album tool!

Jemma : 27 April 2003 - 2:19am

yeah they were great at the Finn Brothers hooley! I didn't even know who they were at the time and now Goldenhorse are my favourite band. brilliant.

Jemma : 26 April 2003 - 4:44am

Okay, this last thing is just major curiosity and desperation. How does someone learn to DJ apart from just mucking around with turntables? Do people actually give DJ lessons? If you know, please reply to this or contact me by e-mailing me at everydayheavenly@hotmail.com Thanks a lot!

Jemma : 26 April 2003 - 4:43am

If you need a singer or a violinist for any project, contact me. I'm an ex-University music student and I'd be willing to play violin on any project, or sing on anything, with the singing - particularly on house or dance tracks of some kind. Reply to this or e-mail me 0:)

Hi,

I'm a singer looking for extremely dedicated and preferably experienced musicians to start a band with. I sing, I can write songs, and I have a lot of experience in music. My influences vary but I'd be interested in styles similar to Goldenhorse, the Brunettes, Fang, etc. Reply on this, or e-mail me, if you're at all interested.

Oh, but she doesn't try to sing pop, she can sing pop! I guess to each their own, but her voice is part of Goldenhorse's charm. And it's not like she sounds like she's singing opera, unlike some classically trained singers who try to sing pop. I like her voice. I think her training probably just means her voice is stronger than most people's.
