well I gotta say Dominic Bowden irritates the hell outta me. to the point where I frequently use the mute button while watching space to avoid those sharp rises in blood pressure whenever he says anything completely fucking stupid. And I feel justified in complaining about this because regardless of whether or not this guy is a saint he is a music presenter, paid to entertain me and the rest of the kiwi audience and frankly he's not a good music tv presenter. I would love to see his annual salary paid to someone else who has a far greater knowledge and appreciation of NZ music, someone who can conduct a decent interview with bands and someone with a sense of humour.
With the amount of money space gets in funding every year, I'd expect them to have the best pesenters in the country and Dominic simply does not cut it.

such a rocking track! hanging out for the video. whens it going to be on here?? I'm never awake for M2.

teehee : 31 October 2001 - 7:48pm

ugh 'perky'. thankfully her timeslot is relatively easy to avoid.

teehee : 23 August 2001 - 12:49am

I just got to say something about this album Origin of the Species. For some reason it has sat on my shelf forgotten and the other day i put it on and fawk!!! so much time wasted what a fool i have been, what excellent music i could have been listening too! I can't get this stuff out of my head. If only there was a music video to Employee of the Month. Call it a collison of biorhythms or something but this album is just right time right place for me right now and even better they're playing live soon!!! whooo hooo!

teehee : 5 March 2001 - 10:00pm

jeez terry you need to get off the net and look around you!
Zed went triple platinum within NZ within less than a year of release - thats 45,000 people who thought it was a good album and I don't think they all work for RIANZ. I hear there's a few people over in the US who are quite keen on Zed too.
and then there's Fur Patrol - you obviously weren't at the big day out when 30,000 people sung along to Lydia.
Oh and Shihad not worthy of international acheivement???? They not only featured in Rolling Stone fequently but graced the cover for their "Best of 2000" issue for Best Rock album I believe, Then were nominated for ARIAS, something that hasn't happened since the days of Crowded House.

All this bitterness just makes me sick. If you don't like the RIANZ awards, do your own, get constructive, support the b-nets I dunno! just relaaaaaax a bit no one is going to find their opinions represented 100% of the time

teehee : 5 March 2001 - 9:29pm

i'd be gutted if they have called it quits. Supersystem was a really great album and still is. It's really held up well compared to some other releases around that time.

Theres some negative vibes surounding the Feelers for no apparent reason other then they made a good pop album ( a lot better than most) and received recognition for it, something that at the time was unusual for a nz band. Now with the feelers getting the big NZ on Air grant for $50k for international promotion theres obviously some major jealousy about which is just petty. The feelers made great pop, great enough to stand up internationally and its awesome to see the govt recognising that and supporting them.

teehee : 28 November 2000 - 9:36pm

well duh! the unoriginal bit is that Blur did something similar a few years back with a Clockwork Orangey video but I can't remember the name of the song

teehee : 3 November 2000 - 12:44am

jurasitol i totally agree. jon is really really skinny and tookie from weta is really really hot. especially in that new video. mmm yum

teehee : 12 October 2000 - 5:27pm

fucking real tv aye! when will new zealand realise that the american taxi one and the cops one etc are sort of cool to watch because it's shot in new york, or LA where there's guns and drug dealers and protstitutes and veterans and about 20 million more people to get fucked up and tell interesting stories. A taxi ride from parnell to the shore is pretty fucking tame in comparison. or a speeder with an unsecured load on the harbour bridge versus a high speed chase through traffic on a LA freeway where the guy tops himself at the end. See the difference?
If I see another goddam programm about selling fucking houses I'll scream. a programme about music and they pick christmas in the park!? Jesus I mean who actually goes to that anyway? Is there not some slightly more interesting stories about music in this country? is anyone out there thinking?? helloooooo????

teehee : 12 October 2000 - 5:16pm

I like it. I wanna have a sticker of it . It would look good on a black tee too. especially with flames comming out of it. It should move when I rollover it.

teehee : 12 October 2000 - 5:10pm

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!! Ive tried to bite my tongue because I don't want to add their fucking dominance of this site but FUCK! THAT"S FUCKINGIT!!!! DNE SUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKKSS .
They suck so bad it fucking hurts. All these fucking 'DNE is so cool' comments filling up the homepage and poor fucking foreigners who don't know any better falling for their evil trap and fucking off as fast as they possibly can thinking "jesus new zealand is just like the rest of the planet filled with casio tunes passing for music".
fuck tell me I'm not the only one who is so fucking sick of these guys that I could spew?? I mean jesus they've only got one fucking song up here and other bands like shihad, garageland have about 20 each and get an occaisional mention. I don't give a fuck if they're at different ends of the fucking planet and write their music by farting carrier pigeons it's don't make it any less boring or unoriginal........
ahhhhh....... now I feel a little better.

teehee : 12 October 2000 - 4:52pm

Fuck! Once and for all this video is NOT THAT BLOODY GOOD!! It's average and the song is lame. Boring unoriginal electronic shiyte that could of be a pre-set tune on any casio home fucking organ.

teehee : 10 September 2000 - 7:13pm

This has to be track of the day . Turn it up jump around and put a big smile on yer face!

Fish the Dog is a spunk!

teehee : 23 August 2000 - 7:24pm

i know it's an impossible question really but i'm interested to hear what songs have a special place in nz music. The sort of songs that you first think of when someone mentions new zealand music.Songs that make you homesick when your crammed in a flat in london or sleeping on a beach in south africa. I guess they don't necessarliy have to be great - they just sorta stand for something.

i think of Dominion Road by the muttonbirds(?) and I See Red first off and If i was to get homesick it would probably be to the 3d's Spooky or garageland's Nude Star

teehee : 17 August 2000 - 9:08pm

Wow these girlies are great! It's so nice to see an all female new zealand band and thats not a feminist grrl power statement it's just cause I think this sound hasn't really been well represented here in nz. I'd describe them as a good blend of Breeders& Lucious Jackson with a hint of Julianna Hatfield's raw sweetness. In other words - simply luverly

teehee : 15 August 2000 - 3:43am

are you implying that my ears r not musical ? or should that be musakal? I do like electronica and I love dub and totaly agree with pup but the 1 and only DNE tune i've heard just sucks. but ok "go NZ dance pop" obviously there's an audience for it but i'd rather dance to bongmaster anyday

teehee : 14 August 2000 - 9:38pm

comon DNE?? : p~~~~~~

teehee : 7 August 2000 - 9:25pm

hottest in terms of music -rubicon, weta, dub connection
hottest unrecognised - mestar
hottest in terms of *rawrrrr* -who could resist Boogar covered in blood and goop and throwing around a chainsaw! & if I were a guy i'd probably like boh

teehee : 23 July 2000 - 10:01pm

speaking of telly... DIDN'T IT SUCK??! it was so cringe I couldn't even watch. A bunch of subcelebs and rent a crowd shuffling to rotten covers of pop songs, with a noticable lack of NZ hits and reliving TV2 shows - which btw were waay cooler back in the eigthies... (FYI TVNZ - I don't give a fuck about a box of $5 notes buried on a beach) .
yeah THANKS NZ on AIR for that gem!

teehee : 23 July 2000 - 9:33pm

I dunno - student radio (xcept bfm) dropped them like hotpotatoes when they got signed. It's that music/culture snobbery thing where it's not cool to like what's popular and sony is crap at over -promoting their artists so they're always in your face and you just get sick of them.

teehee : 16 July 2000 - 7:49pm

u know i really don't wanna offend anyone but glorifilia sounds like some kind of nasty infection. is this some girls real name or did they make something up to fit the 5 syllable chorus?

teehee : 13 July 2000 - 1:15am

I remember when they shot this. We were off to Varsity on the bus and all of a sudden we hear HLAH tunes floating through the air and see a big crowd on the design school lawn. About 5 people jumped for the stop cord at the same time and we all piled off the bus to watch and get our mugs in the vid...that was magic... and no, we didn't get in the video!

teehee : 10 July 2000 - 4:01am

I love the cicadas in the background ......ah summer.....
