a low hum : 19 June 2005 - 6:07pm

we both suck bro, all the bands we like are disposable. lets give up.

a low hum : 19 June 2005 - 5:34pm

shit. Its like someone went to all the low hum tours i bought through AKL and then labelled them "kroad". haha..I'm such a goddamn scenester.

a low hum : 19 June 2005 - 3:41pm

a bit odd considering 6 months ago they wrote an article about die die die giving them big ups and stuff, now they write an article asking "have you heard of them?"

a low hum : 19 June 2005 - 2:51pm

well shit...isn't that good news? that dicks are now taking notice?

i mean, we do so much mocking of the mainstream, surely its time that they got some of their own back.

a low hum : 31 January 2005 - 12:11am

cmon "irie".

post the list bro. I wanna see who made the cut.

The next comp I'm working on the moment is tip top! A stonker to kick off the year again. Out March.

a low hum : 29 January 2005 - 11:58pm

It makes it all the more interesting and exciting never quite knowing the show you're going to get. Chan is unique, no too ways about it. I have a feeling that people who miss this show are going to be regretting it for some time.

a low hum : 29 January 2005 - 10:31pm

Grant Hislop is a canny lad, I think he knows what he is doing.

a low hum : 28 January 2005 - 11:02pm

this is exactly what I've heard. I reckon its worth the risk.

a low hum : 28 January 2005 - 8:10pm

You've been waiting ages to see her back in New Zealand!

a low hum : 8 December 2004 - 12:38am

//But of course, you'd have to wait until the bands this year actually played to really make this work.

totally true...just trying to illustrate that perhaps the lineup last year wasn't THAT much better..well i don't reckon anyway...

a low hum : 6 December 2004 - 1:24pm

the song was "disconnect"...and yeah, its a kick ass video..but not on this dvd...but it will be on the next one. I am aiming to do three and it is slated for the second one...I only got to use about a third of the videos i got sent on this first one, but as with my goal of clearing the closets of great underplayed recordings with the main low hum series..so goes the goal of getting a little archive of all the great underplayed videos.

a low hum : 4 December 2004 - 9:08pm

i think the new albums already finished.

a low hum : 3 December 2004 - 10:16pm

Their track "Motorcade" is on A LOW HUM #10. "I've been Lookin at You" is on the Monsterr "trashed" compilation.

They are currently taking a break, i think at least until the end of the year. They've just finished their album. John Douglas their bass player recently left and they've found (i think) a replacement.

a low hum : 3 December 2004 - 6:15pm

though wellington is actually the toughest town in NZ to get into if you're underage. Indigo and Bodega are like fortresses. The rest of the country I've discovered is remarkarbly loose.

a low hum : 3 December 2004 - 5:02pm

exactly..but how many shows did you go to and not get id'd?

a low hum : 3 December 2004 - 2:56pm

sorry dude. but when was the last time anyone got ID'd? anyway? The 80's?

a low hum : 3 December 2004 - 4:50am

// You best be spinning some SLEIGHER in the midst of all that fun!!!

i can't believe it took me so long to discover this brilliant xmas album. "hooked on christmas" is now relegated to number 2 on the top5 list. It reminds me so much of The Toy Dolls..and I am the biggest Toy Dolls fan around. (well from 1980-1990 anyway). "Non Religious, Non Commercial christmas" is fantastic.

a low hum : 2 December 2004 - 10:42pm

'fraid so. They made a valiant effort mind you ;)

a low hum : 2 December 2004 - 8:08pm

cheers dudes. I'm feeling all giddy.

i'm really stoked i can put out a dvd, so many choice videos get made and I'm honoured to present heaps of them on this dvd (first of a series). I've been collecting videos and making VHS compilations of my favourite music videos since i was 13, and I always love watching them, I also really appreciate the few NZ video collections avail like "screenage kicks", I crank them out every now and then, so it feels great to be making one available for public consumption, and in my opinion it kicks the ass of any nz music video collection so far.

a low hum : 2 December 2004 - 2:25pm

What the Hell!? An Australian band headlining an A LOW HUM Tour! A free DVD at every show! Has A LOW HUM gone nuts?

Its Christmas. The silly season. As such, I’ve gone a wee bit overboard with this month’s tour.

The surprise hit of last years Big Day Out, I have been champing at the bit to bring them over for a pub tour all year. I’ve been hanging out to see them at some intimate shows and now is the time. Absolutely electrifying live, their latest album Bad Blood is one of my favourite albums of the year and blurs the line so magnificently between indie electronica, punk and new wave. Gerling are no shit, the shit. So do not miss out.

Following the fine tradition of nationwide tours every month, this is no exception and The South Island will not miss out on this incredible international act. Gerling will be playing at all the shows.

Since its Christmas, I have decided to sweeten the deal and instead of a compilation CD coming with this months A LOW HUM, it comes with a special DVD of 20+ fantastic New Zealand music videos, this is a must have DVD and is only available at these shows.

I have put together some incredible lineups ALL over the country. Calling in some of my favourite bands old and new, we’ve got great party’s happening.

Thanks heaps for all the amazing people all over the country who made these tours possible in 2004. All the peoples houses whose floors we slept on, those who fed and looked after us. The people who looked after the door for me so I could have a dance, the patient sound engineers, all the bands and of course Jack Daniels without whom this magazine nor these tours would be happening at all.

A LOW HUM will be back next year in Febuary. Merry Christmas.
