Jester - Dosn't Matter What we SIng (King Of the World EP)
I really enjoyed Jon and Nathan in the morning, they always made me laugh - it was heaps of fun listening to it. I like Coleman, but I think his show more suits the afternoons. No comment on Jackie Brown or Bomber and Clarke. Apparently, according to a press release Jon and Nathan "LEFT TO PURSUE THEIR T.V CAREERS" which is bullshit. They were dropped. I know that Jon is really bummed out about it. Stink
Stacey,...sister of Micheal. You are the Queen of all that encompasses event organisation. But I don't think I will ever be able to look another piece of pizza in the eye ever again. Thanks heaps for everything! had an awesome night! Look forward to the next.
Great set on saturday fellahs, thoroughly impressed. you guys need to drag yourselves ever so reluctantly up to dirty, scummy old Auckland. I wouldn't force such a punishment on anyone usually, but you guys need to give the Akl music scene a kick up the arse. If you ever need a couch.....
:)
Those of you who were at the Foo Fighters missed a great set by Pan Am on the Essential stage.
I think the ad is just harmless and people are reading into it a bit too much.
Also, the drummer in the band is Wesley Dowdell who is a very talented actor and used to be the drummer for the band Jester. And apparently, the singer from Jester auditioned for the part of the singer,...not sure why he didn't get it though.

Palm Singing - Bressa Creeting Cake
Heard on the radio this morning that Betchadupa have been just been offered a major management deal over in the U.S, (good on ya fellahs!) and are also apparently doing a photoshoot for an article somewhere over there which is apparently entitled "is New Zealand the next Seattle?". What does everyone think of this? Is the rest of the world finally realising how original and revolutionary Kiwi music is? If so, I think it's a very flattering, and exciting if not slightly overdue compliment. And huge ups to all the NZ bands and artists who have been waving the Kiwi flag overseas and doing the hard yards to get this kind of recognition! You know who you are! it's about time. :)
Jester are playing at the Dogs Bollix this thursday with Stoods! Anyone seen the new vid for Enemy yet?
They are very impressive live. Saw them at the under the influence tour Auckland gig at the Kings Arms, very impressed. Liams got one of the best stage jumps I've seen in while!
You are totally right! Although they did have the video for Papa People (the one with the giant Weta) you're right though there were so many other fantastic songs on that album, so many oppurtunities for videos. How about one for Egyptian Tanker or Chip that sells millions!!?!?! One can only imagine now :(
Golden horse's music is fascinating, chord changes and time signatures that completely take you by surprise, I so enjoy listening to their songs for the first time because you never know where it's gonna take you next. Then after that you just accept it as being a kind of unconventional genius. I think the bands Bressa Creeting Cake ancestory has a lot to do with that.
I remember how dissapointed I was when B.C.C disbanded and then how ecstatic I was when I found out that members of B.C.C were in Golden Horse.
Great music! Also, I saw them (or 2 of them) play that song Riverhead (???) at the Finn brothers Hooley, and it blew me away!!
Looking forward to the album. :)
Sorry, havin a rough day on the keyboard today. I meant a 'Squire Strat copy' I always was a useless typer.
I love the sound that other people can get out of a tele, (Johnny Greenwood etc) but I've found I've never been able to tame a tele to be honest. I wish I could Paul from PanAm used to have a red left handed Tele which had a wicked high end and cut through the live mix beautifully (don't know if he still uses it) now he's recently purchased a strat the sound and tone he gets out of it is pretty grunty. With a strat You can kind of immitate the sound of a Tele with, and you can also have the warmth of a Les Paul. A very versatile guitar.
For a couple of recordings I've used my Les Paul (old faithful) for crunch and used a aquire strat copy (it's all I can afford at the mo) for it's tone in the quiet parts.
Tough question. But I don't think I can deny the sheer style of a Tele.
Cole Goodley from PanAm is one of the best drummers in New Zealand by far, his drumming drives the band and he gives a fucking incredibly powerful performance everytime! Keith Moon would be proud.
