Hopefully we'll see a new Cassette album over the next few months... And I'm also very much looking forward to the Chris Knox and The Nothing album - a studio-recorded album with band!

I'm not sure there's enough cocaine around at the moment to get Mr West down here.

Someone's probably mentioned this already but Franz Ferdinand have announced a Sydney gig on Jan 24th.

I've heard that too. On the radio, actually.

James Murphy delayed the release of the LCD Soundsystem CD hoping to avoid getting an ugly logo slapped on the front and an often unplayable disc, but to no avail. Apparently the topic comes up for debate at the highest level internationally quite frequently - he says the best thing to do is to register your disappointment with both the artist and the record company, but it is well and truly out of individual artists' hands. Interesting as he was a big catch for EMI.

They're named after the batch of trips called Fat Freddys, right? wrong?

Don't know how that helps, but brings back good memories...

FIGHT!
Gemma Gracewood heads into the thick of the huge South By Southwest (SXSW)
music showcase in Austin, Texas. A sort of music industry supermarket held
over 5 days in March each year, SXSW sees a thousand bands competing
against each other for the attention of 6,000 music industry big-wigs. This
year's SXSW featured five New Zealand bands, one hip hop artist and an
exciting on-stage altercation.

Everything's hearsay on here, not to mention in general, as far as this whole story goes... But I'll second Sicoff's testament to Phil's character - the racial slur story is a red herring. As far as I'm aware (some) and you'll believe me (maybe a little) the altercation was the equivalent of that good old 'did you just say [blah blah blah]'; 'no i didn't'; 'no you just said [blah blah blah]'.

Don't know if anyone's still paying attention to this thread, but I just found it, so here goes:
Mikey Havoc sings on MC OJ & Rhythm Slave's Money Worries
Otis & Slave were in Joint Force with DLT
DLT & Shayne blah blah blah

flakeypastry : 18 May 2004 - 8:56pm

As Bill Murray as Barnaby might be... Jane Yee as Scarlett Johansson? Ugh, never!

flakeypastry : 4 February 2004 - 3:22pm

God, what a fucking awful band name...

flakeypastry : 17 December 2003 - 9:00pm

Looks like the Ozzies will be getting another gig then... Since they are polite little punters who buy their tickets early, not like us last minute guys. Unfortunately (and don't get me wrong this is no sales pitch) until we get more excited about buying tickets and get them earlier, poor ticket sales will continue to be used as an excuse to move gigs out of NZ in favour of larger and more lucrative Australian shows....
