Hey guys, i got sent this, thought some of you might be interested too.....
NOISE CONTROL BATTLE FUNDRAISING GIG FOR THE TEMPLE
The Temple in Auckland is a cornerstone of New Zealand music, providing performers with a forum for their talents, supporting the industry from grass roots level all the way to the top of the industry. The Temple has been battling noise issues for a number of years now, with the matter currently in the Environment Court. The cost of this battle to date is in excess of $10,000.
So, to help the Temple survive, a fundraising gig has been scheduled for Thursday, July 17th at Galatos.
Confirmed acts are: Hammond Gamble, Shona Laing, Chris Knox, Eddie Rayner/Alistair Riddell/Paul Crowther/Tony Wayne (Space Waltz/Orb reunion), Graham Brazier, and Mahinarangi Tocker.
With noise complaints continuing to be thrown at many venues not just in Auckland, but around the country, and with more and more inadequately soundproofed inner city residential apartments being built, the problem of noise control will not go away for city music venues. The current rules allow the council to continue to lay unjust complaints against venues and force them to fight in court. To fight back the Temple needs your support.
It is time for the people involved and supportive of the NZ music industry to step up and get behind one of New Zealand‚s most valuable assets in local music. In one single night you can see the cream of the crop in NZ music talent, support a NZ music institution, help raise public awareness and send an important message to the powers that be that NZ music is united in its opinion, all for a mere $30.
For all the free and ridiculously cheap gigs the Temple has held and continues to hold, that $30 will be well spent you can be sure. Tickets will be available via Ticketek , the Temple, and Real Groovy from 10 June 2003.

Does anyone know of a decent sized venue (about same size as temple in akld) in Whangarei, a webpage or a contact?
Well for a start I think that after John Peel saying "The Datsuns are the best rock n roll band in the world" and the overall wee storm they are and have created internationally, perhaps they should have got the International Achievement award instead of the D4?
Why don't you just contact them yourself and tee it up with them. Heres their webpage.
go st. lucy, push those buttons. I think you got the reaction you were after..........and very promptly as well, went to your site and had a nosey around, lots of interesting stuff, ever thought of writing a book?
sorry try...
