Farewell Mary Anne Te Hei Merriman 1919 - 2002

For those of you who have seen the video for the Jester song 'Fries with that', you'll be saddened to hear that the star of that video Mary Anne Te Hei Merriman passed away on Tuesday night. The video which featured on New Zealand Music.com's home page for a while, showed Mary busking on the waterfront of Mission Bay with her Accordian.

The video can be seen here: http://www.nzmusic.com/track.cfm?i=4303

Although she earned a tiny bit of recognition for being in the video, she was already world famous in her home town of Tauranga for busking with her accordian in the main street, and for being the loving Grandmother of Jesters Bassist Mark Grimes - her biggest fan.

Jester farewells Mary and extends sympathy to Mark, whanau and friends she leaves behind. The funeral is to be held at the Oropi Hall in Tauranga, 1pm Saturday 2 November.

Hey Suzie Q,

Just to let you know, scathing sarcastic comments (11:41 & 11:54) weren't directed at you, they were intended for our friend middle8. I see how that got mixed up. I'm totally with you, I know exactly what you mean. I also know how hard PanAm have worked for this and how they deserve all the success thats coming to them.

....oh and by the way, we weren't upset, we just felt sorry for you. i think you mis-understood. Like I said before 'it's a real shame'.

Trnsistr_boy : 12 August 2002 - 2:41pm

Ha Ha Ha!!! Wow! Atleast you're passionate about what you enjoy I suppose. Good on ya!

middle8 - what the fuck is your problem? If you don't particularly like PanAm (and that's fair enouh) then why are you even in this forum?

It amazes me that people can't just say to themselves: "no, this music is'nt really me - but oh well. That's just not my taste in music. But if other people do, then thats their buisness. " Instead you feel the need to go out of your way to diss them, their music and anybody who happens to like their music. Seems very narrow minded to me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

And the whole "Auckland VS. every-other-city-in-NZ" thing is such a pathetic excuse for an argument. Did you specificaly come in here to diss PanAm, or to start a geographical brawl sitting high apon your regional high horse? We're all from the same fucking country! why not just be satisfied with the fact that they are from New Zealand and they are doing well. That's a rare thing in this country. Sounds like a bit of the old Tall Poppy Syndrome if you ask me. It's a real shame.

GO HARD PANAM!
GO ESPECIALLY HARD PANAM FANS!
AND LONG LIVE NEW ZEALAND MUSIC!
