urgh...whoops. What I meant to say was..
the video Shihad made uses imagery and ideas taken from the movie version of 'A Clockwork Orange'. Possibly the text on the wall and definitely the costumes, including the eye make up. So what I'm saying is that Rob & co could have no idea that Shihad even exist yet still make a similar vid if they had the same idea as an inspiration...

Rather clever really. Hope they made good money on the rights.

some reason being that they weren't hip hop?

zaphod : 14 May 2002 - 2:29pm

of course I meant 'westy', but 'wetsy' sounds ok too..

Who saw this on Space?? The single most amusing moment on Space ever..Jackie interviewing K'Lee and asking her if she was any good at 'beating off' guys..K'Lee, being the worldly young wetsy that she is instantly jumped to the wrong conclusion and had a look on her face I shan't forget in a hurry..pure magic.

They shouldn't be taking the piss. They should be taking it seriously or give it away. Mind you, with the amount of money they spent on the latest disaster of a record, they may have to be selling their arses for a wee while yet. A true NZ 'look what could happen to you' story..sold loads of records, made no money, officially washed up. Still, thats what you get when your band can't back up records by playing good live shows.

Public Enemy. If you're gonna check something out, check the source...

//The only rap I stand is from bands - Red Hot Chili Peppers & Rage Against The Machine //
argh. um, kinda like eating McDonalds burgers when you could have the eye fillet steak...

zaphod : 12 May 2002 - 2:26pm

The D4/D-Super fuck up? Please elucidate....oh and I've got good one..remember the Limo arrival red carpet thing? Well..it was one limo picking up all the bands from , yes, 10 metres up the road at Pizza Pizza and dropping them off back of the St James before returning 10 metres up the road to get the next bunch waiting on the pavement..hahahahahahaha

//you don't need to sell to 'the masses' in NZ before you can be a 'successful' band//

In fact, I would go so far to say that you can't be a successful band if you stay in New Zealand. None of our 'top' acts that stay here will ever be able to support themselves and make a living from music. You have to look overseas if you want a career in music. And now, as the Datsuns & the D4 have shown..the time is right (well, at least for kickarse rockn roll music!!0

zaphod : 8 May 2002 - 12:31pm

You are off the mark matey. Agreed the Datsuns walk the line of self parody and do it extremely well, but as is said below they are an amazing live band. I don;t think that the D4 and HAsslehoff are quite so..just very dirty straight up rock n roll bands of an ilk that has been a continuous undercurrent since it began. No bullshit and extremely enjoyable. Have you been to see these bands? Do you have their records?

Who the fuck is he/her anyway? relax people, no cause for alarm...
