AchillesHeel : 21 April 2006 - 12:09am

Sorta existing Alternative band of guitars/voice and drummer would like a new permanent bassist. We want the band back up to speed and we need the missing link to do it since we don't want to be the White Stripes. We have a gig next month of 5 songs and would rather get things going now then wait as playing NZ Music Month has no rainchecks.

we want someone who is:
* Around the ages 18 - 23.
* Open-minded to new ideas and Talented
* Committed, musically driven
* Be able to practice at least twice to 3 times a week
* Male or female
* Own equipment essential or access (doesn't have to be flash)
Though we can POSSIBLY provide a bass an amp for now maybe
* Able to pick things quick
* Easy to get along with

Anyone play the Keytar? Think Mailee Mathews of Charlie Ash!
Alternative band want to try to add keytar to the line up to fill in the void let by bass to compliment the use of electronic elements rearranging bass parts on a Keytar (samples, keys).

Have a gig mid May and wanna get 5 song set locked down. So if you're keen between the ages 18-23, got transport and own equipment then get in touch!

Desperation for the missing piece has hit us again.
Attempts to fill the resistant void have been few and far between.
A dollar a day can save a child in poverty,
A Bassist can save a band from disfunction and coma
and ability to make gigs already planned.
Can you spare a dollar day or play bass?

Location: Christchurch

AchillesHeel : 1 December 2005 - 2:08am

Alternative 3 piece want to add electronic elements (keys/samples) with 4th member to add to already original alternative music. (Think NIN, Gramsci, Refused, Shihad - General Electric/Killjoy, Placebo, Muse, Evanescence and more)

We want someone (pref Female) who can play keyboards, sing BV's and speak not exactly like Heather Mansfield but how she speaks over music and easiest part play pre-made samples (which could be your voice!) through laptop or protools and any other instruments like The Brunettes and The Go Team!

Own equipment preferred such as Keyboard, something to play samples such as a LAPTOP or protools or whatever Shihad used on Killjoy and TGE.

Own Transport would be good as well.

Male or Female (if we can't get a female who can do all of the above then Male would be ok and we'll get separate female BVs)

Would be most comfortable playing with people around the ages of 18 -23 years preferred.

AchillesHeel : 6 February 2005 - 8:38pm

:) No need, the second was the Japanese version. I'd expect newer songs to be in heavier rotation though. But not in the way The Edge does and kills songs every 30 minutes.

AchillesHeel : 6 February 2005 - 8:32pm

Last night they played Home Again twice.
And I swear I have heard Sake Bomb twice today.

AchillesHeel : 6 February 2005 - 5:56pm

Channel Z stomps KiwiFM into the ground. I love NZ Music but too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. How long can they keep this 24/7 kiwiana up before it burns out? Four words: alienating Channel Z's core audience is what it is. They could've at the least kept the Channel Z name.

For a launch it seemed more self-indulgent than for NZ. All it was was an intro at the start and then what was supposed to be the Top 100 NZ countdown which seemed like they just left an ipod on autoplay. There was nothing wrong with Channel Z and I just wish that they knew that appealing to the masses isn't everything, even if it is for business' sake.

AchillesHeel : 6 February 2005 - 5:48pm

James Coleman is still on air. He has his own mid morning show around 9am-12pm.

Phoebe is still around according to james, after all she was made assistant programming director of Channel Z months ago. I assume she is reprising her role but only its KiwiFM.

As for other presenters:

Tim Homer (James old co-host) 12-3pm
Renee and Bruce 3pm - 7pm
DJ Sirvere - 7pm - 9pm (hip hop show)
Jase from Opshop - 9 - midnight (goodnight Kiwi show)

Theres also weekend presenters which they haven't revealed. There's speculation from James that Bomber has moved on. It seems he is starting his talkback on tv3 or something and focusing on Rip it Up.

It's possible they will recycle the remnants of CZ presenters (Angelina, Amberleigh, Nathan) or just dispose of them completely.

AchillesHeel : 5 February 2005 - 1:56am

Bad Idea no doubt. Eventually this won't last and we'll have a NZ Music overload sooner or later. It's like forcing every month to be NZ Music Month making it less exciting, and you just don't do that. Let's hope they come to their senses like Shihad and ressurect Channel Z and go with global + NZ Music.

AchillesHeel : 26 January 2005 - 8:14pm

Because it's a very forced idea. For one NZ Music hasn't sparking as much as it does on NZ Music Month, NZ Music Awards and other festival/concerts. Right now it seems as it's just cause they feel like it not because the timing is really right or anything. Mixing Classic with Contemporary is a bit of a playlist mismatch. No coherence at all.

AchillesHeel : 26 January 2005 - 5:31pm

James Coleman not going to be on KiwiFM? oh man. I would've thought he would be all for it. I think Bomber possibly is still going to be on it, Amz keeps saying he's back in February. Phoebe might still be on I think, shes a huge NZ music fan. That only leaves Angelina, Karyn, Nathan and Curly. Who's staying and going? It's gonna be a shock. However I think they have hinted with having new presenters (ben and asher) debut after new years maybe it could be them.

AchillesHeel : 24 January 2005 - 4:10pm

There will always be other outlets to get international music from. There's your music stores, magazines, Camilla's show "Intellectual Property" and word of mouth. But it's not the same when radio is so close to home to some people. Radio isn't just the music, it could be some peple are loyal to the announcers and people that build character into the station and their shows. Maybe finding a new "home" isn't as easy as that when you consider a certain station and it's people family.

AchillesHeel : 23 January 2005 - 8:12pm

Not as much a brand name. I meant the station we all know and love Channel Z. I like NZ Music but they could've at least kept the Channel Z name.
