Hey there. We are a Wellington based band looking for a kickass drummer. Needs to be someone who is ready to gig, record and is dedicated. We are currently recording third recording and looking to tour in December. Bands to keep in mind would be Smog, Grandaddy, Velvet Underground, Wilco et al. Check out www.myspace.com/ghostplane or email ashcookie@hotmail.com if you are interested. Cheers!

Howdy there. Ghostplane is needing a drummer. We need some Wellington based who is dedicated and prepared to record and gig pretty much asap. Check out www.myspace.com/ghostplane or email ashcookie@hotmail.com

"I dislike ELEMONOP, THE FEELERS and all that SHITTY DAWN RAID CRAP, however their success means NZONAIR and CREATIVE NZ are able fund obscure acts like Ghostplane, The Coolies, The Sneaks and Die Die Die to ensure that they can continue to release music."

Unless you can tell us something we don't know I can assure you that obscure acts like Ghostplane aren't reaping the benefits of acts like Elemeno P. All that funding sure as hell hasn't made it to our door.

I tend to check cheeseontoast.co.nz, especially for auckland gigs, and the artists myspace site. Most bands are good at updating gigs on their own sites and it's a good way to check out new bands. Also, have gone to any A Low Hum gigs? If Blink is bringing bands through a town that you are staying at you should definately head along! I find that information in Groove Guide and other print material can change. You can't beat the net.

hey sauly! achillious, ashcookio and mikielisss had a big 'deep end' jam and it ended up all beta-bandish, ala lazy bones.... you seem interested so i will now bombard you with daily 'deep end' updates... watch this space!

ashcookie : 4 April 2006 - 3:14pm

Ghostplane have officially joined the technological elite and got a myspace account. It's looking a little sad at the moment because we need to find some friends. And we are rather nice people once you get to know us so.... you know, be our friend? http://www.myspace.com/ghostplane

I know...where to start? Get some bands together, organise venue for benefit gig? They lost pretty much everything so even some spare cash for some clothes and food would be ace... anybody have any ideas? Any bands with some free time on their hands? Jo - you should bake some cookies, your baking was ace!

ashcookie : 29 March 2006 - 1:35pm

Just heard about this, poor things! At least everyone is okay and they seem to be in alright spirits. We should band together and get some cash raised to send over to them, a few aucklanders were getting together to arrange a benefit concert. We could do the same in Welly.

ashcookie : 24 March 2006 - 2:30pm

Out of your examples I would say neither...

I thought Jon was great. Those po-faced audience members didn't seem to impressed. The only ones who seemed like they could take a joke were Speilberg, Clooney and Jamie Fox. In their defence though, alot of the audience were first timers so they may have been a bit pre-occupied. Best lines have to be
"Folks, I have some bad news tonight. Unfortunately Bjork can't be here tonight. She was trying on her Oscar gown and Dick Cheney shot her..." Classic.
"Good Night and Good Luck, not just the name of his movie, but the line George Cloony says to his dates at the end of the night "
"Martin Scorsese, 0, Three-six Mafia, 1"
When he was talking about Schindler's List and Munich "I think I speak on behalf of all jews when I say, I can't wait to see what happens to us next! (crosses fingers) Trilogy?!"
And after the serious montage clip that dealt with racism, aids, etc "And none of those issues were ever a problem again"
I thought he was great once he warmed into it and started ad-libbing a bit. Thanks to Jo for having us all over for her Oscar gathering and for Sebastian the handsome cat for putting up with us all acting like crazy buggers...

ashcookie : 27 February 2006 - 8:29am

Hey there guys, Ash from Ghostplane here - just wanted to say we all really love the 'Spill Your Heart' album you gave us. We played it before our Lytletton gig and everyone was really getting into it. Good stuff.

ashcookie : 16 February 2006 - 3:14pm

Ugh, still too early to mention the cider, i havent quite recovered from the deliciousness of it all. Too easy to forget that it is not fizzy drink until you are passed out at three am talking nonsense. And, um, I dont recall any pant dropping.... elaborate? Or maybe not, you decide...

ashcookie : 30 January 2006 - 8:31am

That sucks. But I'm being selfish really, it sounds like it's a natural end to years of brilliant work and they are moving on to a new stage in their lives and careers. RIP Grandaddy, thanks for the good times...

ashcookie : 18 January 2006 - 2:48pm

just to confirm - yes yes yes

ashcookie : 5 January 2006 - 11:55am

Nope not doing BDO, and as you probably could guess nothing for New Years except our own drunken shenanigans. We are on holiday for a couple of weeks BUT we are playing some gigs in Jan. We are playing at soundshell in Botanical Gardens (Summer City thing) on Fri 13th (of no, just realised the implications of the date...) and playing Organic River Fest in Levin on Sun 22nd, so lots of outdoor cruisy fun!

ashcookie : 22 December 2005 - 12:14pm

I really like the production on Pegasus, really subtle tones flying around the mix. Very nice. Not mainstream enough to be over-rated me thinks.

ashcookie : 22 December 2005 - 11:37am

I just about had to leave band practice early when I heard about this... so mad, SO SO MADDDDD. Blink, is there anyway you and Mystery Girl could make your powers combine and work some magic for 2006??? You know, if you're not busy or anything... ;)

ashcookie : 11 December 2005 - 11:42am

I think I had her last week at my work.... meanwhile the taco one is pretty good too...
