Rudy : 26 April 2006 - 11:28pm

You uncouth rabble! We HAVE sold a million copies of HORSEPOWER, and 2 million of PEGASUS! As far as I'm concerned we are the best rock'n'roll band in the world at the mome... OK OK OK

Thats pretty funny, still I agree with the 'blogger' who sayeth 'can't hurt for the world to think we've sold a million copies'...

Rudy : 24 March 2006 - 10:14am

40 Years be a Feenix song dude/dudette, not a meine solo album.

Selected titles: COSMIC DANSE, SAUERKRAUT BOSSA, SLAV TO THE RHYTHM, ATOMIC PASH.

Rudy : 4 March 2006 - 1:03pm

Damn the river, it's wild ways.
Took my love and...

You have clues now.

Rudy : 2 March 2006 - 10:42pm

Ahhh, yes. Sorrow. The all important ingredient to a rich and full life. I mean, can you imagine how shit it'd be if you were all happy-like all the time?

Real BIG Shitty.

Rudy : 26 February 2006 - 10:30pm

Just wanna apologize for the less than spectacular performance at Waitangi Park on Saturdee... Everyone in the band was a bit bummed out after that one. First flat show in ages. Sux Busx.

WON't happen again Sir, I promise.

Rudy : 9 February 2006 - 8:54pm

Yes yes you are correct we played nothing new...

The thing is we timed our set badly at practise, and as it turns out we had to drop thee songs towards the end, these were SLUMBER PARTY, OMERTA, and THE DRINKER. So the new triumphant stuff was dropped.

Also, you gotta play your most comfy songs in that environment and assume lots of people have never heard you...

And Devil Rider, I've never been to Rippo-M. Dufus.

Rudy : 25 December 2005 - 6:42pm

Yeah, check it out yo. A group named the PHoenix Foundation (I think they was evil rich whities, not too clued up tho) was behind a failed coup attempt in Vanuatu in the 60's? Or maybe 70's.... sheesh I should really be better informed!

Rudy : 25 December 2005 - 6:02pm

All so called DIRTY ROCK'N'ROLL, SAVIOUR OF MUSIC, NEXT BIG THINGS... For gods sake, how many seventies sounding 'now-wave' or whatever the fuck dressed in cool suits with chuck taylors pretty boys struttin' their stuff bands are we gonna be pummeled with? It's like the final commercialisation of the alternative, of cool, or something. I mean, I got pretty fucken excited about the Strokes when I first heard them, but it's outta control!

Wheres the imagination?

Little story: a while ago I picked up a NME in some waiting room. In it an article about the HOT NEW BIG THINGS: BLOC PARTY, THE BRAVERY, and THE KAISER CHEFS. A couple of hours later I went to BFM for an intervies witha trendy young DJ. Guess what CD's she had on the counter and was just rockin' on the air! KAiser Chefs, Bloc PArty and Bravery! Good to see she was really looking for that fresh vibe yo!

Hello Dust.

As a member of Phoenix I'm really into hearing criticisms and I'm just curious (truly, in a non aggresive sweet as kinda of way, just curious) about your comments.

I've never understood the Coldplay comparisons. For one. Apart from maybe the fact that the first chord strum of CHARMING VAN sounds heaps like the first song on parachutes.... Which songs / bits remind you of coldplay dude? Also, apart from the obvious HOMAGE of DAMN THE RIVER, which ones remind you of Dire Straits?

Last thing is that I personally make no mystery of my love of GRANDADDY and would only wish for more people to know about them and listen to them, I don't remember anyone in our band ever doing anything with a 'smirk'... I also am not sure which songs/bits you're talking about.

Personally I think the problem with PEGASUS is that it's way too overproduced and the beginnings of the album are a bit shaky. But I like the second half heaps. And if any of it sounds like anything I'd say AFTERNOON has shades of the Cure, WEATHER is SPRINGSTEEN meets GHOST RIDERS IN THE STORM, Damn the River sounds like DIRE STROKES...

But anyway, seriously, I'm just personally curious....

Rudy : 3 December 2005 - 10:41pm

Borig boring boring. Please don't try to be funny, eh?

Rudy : 22 November 2005 - 2:32pm

Anyone who compares my band to COLDPLAY can get fucked. I don't even mind COLDPLAY, but frankly we don't sound like them. Cars Of Eden? Hitchcock? Seaworld? Nest Egg? Slightest Shift? There may be two or three songs where there is a slight resemblance... "This Charming Van" for example has the same strum as the first song on their first album (whatever it's called), and people seem to think that "Through the Woods" sounds like them too (personally I think the dual BIG MUFF PROPHET synths and general darkness of the song is mighty different but who am I to argue?).

Sorry for this but we've had to withstand many a COLDPLAY quote and I honestly think it is an ill wind.

Rudy : 20 November 2005 - 10:02pm

Hey all cool cats.

As Sam sayeth, 40 YEARS sounded cruddy when we recorded it 4 da UNICORN album? Twas a different version. Not BAGUS! Now we have fresh style and we will do a streetwize recording of it. Youse all is grouse.

Rudy : 3 November 2005 - 2:05am

Phoenix Foundation, I luurrrve you!
