For what its worth I really like the Roland Jazz Chorus for keyboards and a lot of other stuff. They're a 120W 2X12" transister amp. They don't have a whole lot of character and are pretty accurate and clean, but I think thats why I like them so much. You'll never run out of power and they're built to last, unllike almost everything else that Roland made.
good luck
An absolutley blinding show on Tuesday night. I actually saw smiles on the faces of Morely and Yeats.
I still don't know what to think about the show on Friday night after Sonic Youth at ATP. It definitely never seemed to take off like the smaller show and the stage was massive.
I guess Friday night sounded tired and a little old but Tuesday night sounded like the future. wow.
what was the last great thing you heard come out of L.A.?
exactly.
Either this guy is taking the piss or he's in fucking cockoo land.
and who the fuck cares what some cunts from L..A. think?
New Zealand music is dangerously close to losing its identity without some
fuck suggesting to slicken it up even more...
This guy has such a fucked up view of music and bands it just astounds me.
I'm sure he thinks a Carly Binding record passes the test.
Thats the biggest load of shit I have ever read.
Your biggest problem is not understanding that bands are the 'Client"
Come here to England and we'll see how many jobs you get.
Dick.
yeah, thelas reach stretches far and wide.
I saw every show and Dean gives me contant inspiration.
Hats off to all 3 and what they do.
Puts most NZ musicians to shame.
Shame on you all.
I would have thought that even a garnishing of Dean Roberts might be a bit to much.
Does anyelse think thats bad service? Pretty irriponsible considering how quickly bands move these days.
The track sounds like it was a rockquest prize.
sorry, I actually meant a schematic for Roberts DI boxes.
I had a drink with Blair yesterday. You took over from him right?
Actually is there anyway you could get hold of a schematic and component list? They're the active boxes...I'm pretty sure that its the transformer which is the secret to these things.
hey Manamana, I don't get it.
I'm pretty sure that I've met Jason before when I recorded at Stebbings and don't have a bad word to say about him. Perhaps I'm missing something. It must be fucking strange working at Stebbing for years and years but having said that the people that have come out of the place alive or at least sane (Cathy Burke, Matt Tait and my good friend Blair Jollands) are top people doing excellent work here in England. Also Robert and Vaughn Stebbing are great men (if not a little eccentric, which I love) who know thier shit backwords. The DI boxes that Robert built are the best I've ever used. I love that studio.
Anyway. Jason, Did that Ampex machine come from Stebbings? Is it 1" 8? does it have the 440 electronics in it? Good luck.
PS I'm a little out of the loop with regards to NZ studios but $80 an hour seems pretty steep.
why did I get instantly banned from posting on the 'songs that make me cry like a baby' thread?
I dont know if crying is the right emotion but I heard this morning and felt something.
Prayer to God by Shellac
To the one true God above:
here is my prayer -
not the first you've heard, but the first I wrote.
(not the first, but the others were a long time ago).
There are two people here, and I want you to kill them.
Her - she can go quietly, by disease or a blow
to the base of her neck,
where her necklaces close,
where her garments come together,
where I used to lay my face...
That's where you oughta kill her,
in that particular place.
Him - just fucking kill him, I don't care if it hurts.
Yes I do, I want it to,
fucking kill him but first
make him cry like a woman,
(no particular woman),
let him hold out, hold back
(someone or other might come and fucking kill him).
Fucking kill him.
Kill him already, kill him.
Fucking kill him, fucking kill him,
Kill him already, kill him,
Just fucking kill him!
Amen
// if you can offer a logical explanation for existence and our conscience
can you offer any evidence that animals believe in an afterlife/heaven or some divine creator?
It seems obvious to me at least that all living things fundamentally exsist to survive. In most part a species will work together to achieve this. As long as humans have existed they have been unable to accept this-therefore primitive myth and modern myth such as the bible/koran etc.
There is a large amount of evidence to prove that Jesus Christ was not one divine prophet but infact a creation hundreds of years after the fact by the church and was the culmination of many selfproclaimed prophets that existed in the area at the time.
I have no problem with the fundamental prinples of most religions-treat people well, be tolerant, be respectful. These priciples are vital to our survival. They are common sense.
I can also see how Christianity etc gives a platform for these priciples and because it's a relatively old and large system its may seem very convincing.
But I just don't get it.
Every atom in my body tells me that religious types are part of systems that cause more harm than good and are in fact these systems act as a very cloudy and misguided "middle man" to the real truth.
We are Matter.
what happens after you die ? I'll tell you.
The atoms and the energy that make up a person during a lifetime are dispursed and recycled just like any other in matter in the universe. People in the past have called it 'going to heaven', or meeting your maker', or 'reincarnation'. I call it a rule of Physics and the way of the universe.
// i should go commit suicide
I don't think you should juke about that kind of carry on
I think I'd prefer just about anything to evermore.
even shihad.
