Heh. *kicks self*

"underground pop industry"

... oxymoronic indeed

I suck for so much as typing that...

//What is happening to the country of nonpop music

It could be a whole lot worse.
I guess it depends on what your definition of 'pop music' is, but I'd say that there's still a hell of a lot more non-pop music than pop music here.

Unless there's some sort of seedy underground pop industry which I don't know about...

So... I went to the Manawatu Regional Final last night.

The bands were surprisingly good. Although the band who won, Twink, were a bit 'nu-metally'. Slightly 'blech' but not too bad.

They get 10 bonus points for painting themselves black w/ neon flames.

I thought that there were other bands who, musically, were a lot more original than them, but that's just a matter of opinion...

Obligatory Crowd Whine: As I've said, the music was good. However, the crowd can suck my skinny white ass. It was the Summer Jam all over again. Teen whore central.
Why would anyone wear a boob-tube to a concert ? Okay... it was only the Rockquest... but still.
If you are going to spend half of the show with your tongue lodged down your boyfriend/girlfriend's throat, at least don't do it IN THE MOSH PIT. Argh.

So, who's been to any of the other regionals ? Any brilliant bands ? etc etc

Euphoria : 4 June 2002 - 1:47am

//Yeah so anyway. Maybe it was the "monster US management company The Firm (Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin Park)" who wrote that pile of crap!

//I mean they do have quality acts like the above on the firm so yeah that explains something!

*excuse me while I point and laugh at Andoru calling Limp Bizkit, Korn and Linkin Park 'quality acts'*

Korn... perhaps (hmm... their debut was decent)
Limp Bizkit... no
Linkin Park... hell no

Dude, listen to something real

>>how could there be different types of teenybopper when a teeny bopper is tryin to be like everyone else!

Well, not everyone is going to cling to the same group. "Teenybopper" is just an umbrella term which can be applied to some [heh. a lot] of the teenage population.

>>the whole piercing issue, i dont really know anyone who would go thru pain to be cool just coz they got piercings.

Ah, but in the realm of teen whoredom, some piercings are "cooler" than others. Example: in my experience the pop-boppers will think navel piercings are cool; but if someone has their septum pierced, they'll be grossed out. I know a lot of people who got their navel pierced because of the "cool-factor" they think it has. "Oo... I got my navel pierced... +10 popularity points for me!"

>>so if ppl have different colour hair they a teenybopper?

It depends what their reason is for having a different hair colour.

>>ok i am a goth

Muahahaha ;-)

>> being a goth is not all about hating all music except for dark edgier music, majority of it is to be individual.

I know.

>> therefore i like hardcore stuff but i can also like rubicon.

Heh. Rubicon pisses me off.

>> p.s lip service rawks!

Hell yes.

I apologise for the obscene longness of this comment....

My opinion:

teenyboppers = teens who aren't capable of independent thought. They're the ones who go with whatever is "cool" at the time. Their taste in music/clothes/everything else, changes according to the current trend/s. It'll all about a desire to be part of the "in crowd". That's a generalisation of course, but still... a few examples:

Pop teenybopper = Glassons, glassons, glassons. Britney Spears, N'Sync. Pierced naval. Lipgloss, "cute" hairstyles (preferably blonde). Thinks Billy Joel stole 'Uptown Girl' off of Westlife.

Rock teenybopper = Carefully chosen pseudo-alternative clothing. Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit. A few piercings (normally eyebrow/tongue). "Edgy" hairstyle (various colours). Thinks Slipknot is Death Metal.

Goth teenybopper = Carefully chosen "scary" black clothing. Marilyn Manson, Marilyn Manson and.... Marilyn Manson. Various piercings, "spooky" hair (preferably black). Fakes being depressed. Thinks Marilyn Manson is gothic.

Ah, the naivety of youth...
[Heh. I'm only 17. I am still "youth". Oh well]

Megaccino - that site is damn good....

I can't believe that I actually paid $31 for that crap. Generally the music was good (yay for The Feelers, Tadpole and Che Fu) but the crowd, and general atmosphere, was fucking tragic (and Rubicon suck. Also, Silverchair barely played any of their older stuff).

There were a lot of girls there who apparently only came because they think the guys from Silverchair are hot. Grrr.. for fucks sake,
they're musicians not models.

Trivial things which pissed me off:
1. The plethora of girls who wore mini-skirts
2. The amount of people who thought it a good idea to stuff everything but the bloody kitchen sink into a huge backpack and bring it with them (naturally, these are the people I tend to get stuck behind in the pit... not that there was much of a pit, but that's another rant)
3. People who were incessanting using their cellphones
4. People saying that the Summer Jam is "hardcore"
5. People who brought shoulder bags with them
5. The girls who were wearing those oh-so-trendy "rock star" or "punk" t-shirts. Mainstream exploitation of a musical/subcultural style pisses me off. Wearing a t-shirt with a safety pin on it does NOT make you punk, bitches.

I guess I should have known that it would be one of those "see and be seen" events. Just another ploy to attract the $$'s of the trendy teen masses.

Tool is in 12 days - maybe that show will restore my faith in humanity. At least the vast majority of the ppl who will go won't be there because they think that the band members are hot, or to get dressed up and show off their new clothes. They'll be there because of the music. They'll just want to get there and go off, and that's the way it fucking should be.

Grrr....

Euphoria : 21 January 2002 - 12:36am

I saw 'em at the Rockquest final. They were damn good.
Unfortunately I missed them at the BDO - I arrived late.

I hope that they don't move to Aussie. I can understand why they'd want to - I just hope that they don't go through with it....

//They are terrorists , they make people starve to death, they drop bomb on peolpe, they dropped 2 atomic bombs on citys of humans.//

All of the American people I've had contact with have been pretty cool - it's just that they seem to have been brought up being told that they live in "the greatest country in the world" (hence the sometimes-disturbing patriotism, and the ignorance of what goes on outside of the US that a lot seem to have).

You can't hold the American public accountable for their Goverment's actions. For the most part, I'd say that they (Americans) are quite unaware of what their Govt. gets up to.

(yea yea, I know that is completely off topic...)
