HELL-BOUND: HORROR/FETISH BALL

The Ball has been a once a yearly extravaganza lovingly brought to you by us here at Club Bizarre, since 1995 and undergoing a few name changes in its time. Starting off as the NOCTURNE: NZ GOTHIC BALL, then changing names to the annual VAMPYRE ball, finally settling into its current incarnation HELL-BOUND.
So thats a DECADE OF DEVIANCY! Definately something to celebrate.

HELL-BOUND: Merging HORROR and SEX. FETISH with FANTASY, to create a night that is truely unique in this country.

This year we converge in the mighty STUDIO venue located at 340 Karangahape Rd, Auckland City. In past years the events have taken place at a number of establishments including The Powerstation, The Foundry, Sinners, The Mandalay and Galatos.

We are proud to present some of New Zealand's greatest names in the dark-end music field, from Neo Romantic dark Rock, to pumping Electro/Industrial Metal.

THE MERCY CAGE:

The Mercy Cage is a diverse, melodic elektro-Rock / Darkwave outfit. Formed in early 1999 from the embers of New Zealand alt/goth-rock band The Altar, the group quickly caught the attention of fledgling New Zealand independent label numb/benign records. numb/benign released The Mercy Cage debut album Wire in January 2000. A track from Wire, Trauma/Skin Chamber also featured on the Club Bizarre dark-end compilation Blackmarket and more recently the track 'Hymn' on 'Re-Inventing Sheep'. 'Elektro-industrial, powered by machines programmed to keep the dance floors of the apocalypse churning coldwave, electronica, ambience and industrial into a nice mix.” – EBM.gr [Greece]
We welcome The Mercy Cage back onto the CB bigstage once again!

WARD 10:

Ward 10 is non-stop mind-f*cking electro-metal pounding sickness! A 3 piece outfit playing hard hitting metal, mixing it up with electronic beats and samples and even some cello work. Formed in late 2002 and playing regularly around Auckland to great response. Made the Regional Finals of the Battle of the Bands in 2003, 2004 and again this year! Currently recording and looking at an independent release shortly. A band not to be missed. The Psycho-Gimp commands your attention!

THE SHUDDER CLUB:

The Shudder Club represents a new musical movement, replacing traditional rock guitars with sexy electro synth lines and doing away with all unnecessary outsiders, The Shudder Club possess a sound that while being uniquely futuristic retains more than a hint of rock and roll grunt.

SERENNA:

Once comprised of its four core members, Serenna as a musical entity from Wellington, formed sometime in the middle of 2004. The group immediately set to work creating and establishing a Neo-Romantic inspired style of Dark rock music, placing emphasis on melody and lyrical content and exuding substance in the face of the superficiality present in commercially driven music. At present Serenna are deep into development of their debut EP 'Diversion'

FLICK:

An intense no holds barred one man showdown of human beatbox verses machine gun guitar slasher riffs in a short but dymanic display of brutal and bizarre throaty Death/Thrash manipulations from the vocal gym-master Matt Brennan, aka FLICK!

'Dancefloor Demons' Djs GRIFFER & MISERIA will keep the floor crammed and pumped in between acts with a mix of infectious hard n sexy beats from classic new wave retro anthems to the latest in Electro Industrial Rivet-head madness!

THIS IS A HORROR AND FETISH EVENT:
Nb: There will be giant projected multi screen visuals displaying all manor of explicit sex, fetishism and horror imagery throughout the night. This isn't your average gig folks....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

SEX: From gritty classic 1920s erotica/porn through to todays high class and underground fetish/sex imagery.
HORROR: All the great classics and a splattering of the weird, rare and obscure from the grainy black & whites of 'Nosferatu' and 'Dracula', to the underground world of european Zombie gore, Black Magic, Witches, psychopathic killers and a host of generally twisted and depraved blood fests.

All lovingly montaged together for your viewing pleasure!

Please attend this event with an open mind.

Re- Inventing Sheep....a review from Real Groove Magazine. Review by Brent Cardy.

Club Bizarre is the ongoing face of Aucklander Mark Wallbank's musical obsession, and his latest profiles the current local Goth-beat underground. From Industrial electronic music to Goth Pop Rock and Punk, 'Re-Inventing Sheep' (A collection of New Zealand alternatives) is more prime Darkwave recordings. These 21st century perspectives and recordings, mostly from small/home studios, form an impressive line-up of talent. With artists such a Nekros, Skuldom, The Mercy Cage, Zspyne and Gugonix, this is not Top Of The Pops territory - Seek it out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re-Inventing Sheep is a collection of New Zealand acts covering a wide spectrum of genres that embrace the darker/stranger side of music. If you were ever looking for an alternative to 'alternative' music and didnt want the mainstream, this is it!
