aint it funny how the topic of origin shifts so rapidly to arguments:

My intention is not to stab at the cast and creators of lotr's, but at the global perception of New Zealand and it's people.
At the moment I travelling abroad, so I hear enuf and see enuf promotion of the movie to say what I am saying. However this is my own perception, someone else may see it totally different.

Lord of the Rings is an awesome movie, and having met some of the cast I have great respect for them.
I am just tired of hearing about PJ, and all the major cast and crew of the movie, and the praise to our beautiful country, when most of the people I've asked if they know about the people of NZ, the majority think all kiwi's are Maori, and live like Once Were Warriors.

Peoples thoughts should not be shot down in flames, as our thoughts are one of the greatest things that makes as all human and individual.

For such a major movie that was filmed completely in New Zealand, don't you think there would at least be some incling of New Zealand music included on the soundtrack???

If there is, I apologise for being incorrect.. however

the principle fact remains. through all the promotion of the movie world wide, not once have I heard anything about the people of New Zealand, only the landscapes on which we live.

I have to advise that I to hated Havoc, it reaked of inexperienced testosterone, capped with aweful dress sence, and had no relevance to anything.

However, I did like seeing the sights, when their faces werent hogging the camera.

I must admit, when I look at how we (americans) spell things, it can be a little shocking in some areas, however spelling and grammar varies from state to state, more or less to suit the accent, whether southern kentucky, georgia or any other one.

The point I was trying to make previously, is :

"If you don't understand something someone has posted, it would be more logicial to ask them to explain what they have said, rather than jump to conclusions or label them with derogatory remarks."

Iron Pill : 29 December 2001 - 7:34pm

just to state a fact, I grew up in the states and that's the way we spelt it,

`woe is me syndrome' and an inferiority complex - funkymonkey - for someone who doesn't know me or have any idea who i am, you sure do love to label, not only me, but other people here with syndromes or with having a complex.

it was a statement "the american in me coming out", or perhaps you don't know how hard it is to learn another countries "grammar", (obviously not).

if you didnt understand what I meant, wouldnt the logical thing be to ask about it first, before you jump to conclusions.

now that was an intentional dig at you funkymonkey. have some common courtesy next time.

Iron Pill : 29 December 2001 - 4:53am

Kid_A, "grammer" is the American in me coming out, sorry,

Iron Pill : 29 December 2001 - 1:07am

Kid_A - yeah it was intentional. The reason I made the remark about funkymonkey is, no-one wants to hear someone prattle off some big words like they know more than everyone else. I thought these discussions were supposed to be fun, not reasons to argue with everyone.

Iron Pill : 28 December 2001 - 4:16am

Ya know, some points that stand out in this forum are so pathetic.
heres my opinion.
1) alot of comments are being read the wrong way,

2) for a discussion, this is certainly a hot subject,

3) funkymonkey sounds like she needs to get her head out of books (such big words!), and work on her grammer skills, (it may cease the misinterpretations?!?)

4) nobody cares if D.B. screws guys or gals,

and finally

5) I don't have a problem with the guy,

Its a shame some people cant stick to the basics of a discussion, having looked at the tv hate poll, I agree with keldane, there is a fair amount of anti-Dom, but Keldane should have made his statement clearer to the point.

last but not least.

This is a forum, it is not meant to be here so we can point the finger at eachother. It's great to hear other peoples opinions, we may learn something from them, we should not have to spend out time, trying to defend them also.

For someone who trys to appear like she has a solid head on her shoulders
