dude : 14 March 2004 - 3:28pm

you should get one of those first 2 guys on nz idol last night to sing for you.

dude : 29 October 2003 - 3:37am

so what are you saying? a lot of people are very stupid? we know that already.

dude : 16 September 2003 - 12:28am

8 months off.....wow. Man, you guys are like legends.

The Bats, then The Verlaines and now Monkey Puzzle. Man its like Christmas

dude : 3 September 2003 - 11:37pm

// francesca. at least she seemed like she knew her subject matter and had an opinion

fuck right off...i used to keep a scrap book of the mistakes that francesca made in each episode...fueled by my disgust when she referred to RHCP "Blood Sugar..." as their debut album.

dude : 26 August 2003 - 1:42pm

// Our rock is world-shakingly brilliant, thanks to the likes of Pacifier or Eight.

this is one of the first lines of this guys review?

mmm, i think he needs to get out more. I don't trust any review which starts like that. He Champions Eight and then disses Elemenop? They're pretty much the same band, give or take a couple of christians.

dude : 12 August 2003 - 1:27am

sorry, maybe you missed my point.

3 of the 4 members of the housewives play in The Groove Collective...a jazz band right.

now, they have entered the rockquest. Formed specifically in 2003 FOR the rockquest, as a "rock'n'roll" band. Last year several of the members played in a "technical rock" band.

Sorry, maybe I've just gotten the wrong end of the stick, but it looks to me like like they tried to work out what would give them their best chance of winning and started a r'n'r group.

and they chose a "THE" name to help further their cause. Smells like sell out to me. Sorry kids if I'm wrong.

dude : 11 August 2003 - 11:41pm

for what its worth.

The groove collective were interesting.
The Houswives seem to be these same boys trying to cash in on the haves success last year and the current rock'n'roll fad.

Why don't they perhaps try doing something original.

dude : 8 August 2003 - 2:32am

you sound like wanker.

dude : 6 August 2003 - 3:00pm

// make the White Stripes look like one hit wonders

haha maybe the breeders, weren't such a good band to argue that point..haha

dude : 6 August 2003 - 2:55pm

//promoters set the prices, not the bands.

bands choose the promoters, so in effect, set the price.

The NZ dollar is stronger now meaning it does cost more for bands to tour, but still, i don't really respect their lo-fi rock'n'roll when doing this shit. Don't get me to start listing bands who cost decent amounts, For Instance, The Breeders and The Violent Femmes both make the White Stripes look like one hit wonders, and they went with a decent promoter who charged a fair amount.

The White Stripes should have chosen different promoters, i have no respect for them, if they have no respect for their fans.

dude : 6 August 2003 - 3:03am

// I would literally pay thousands 2 see that all again,$money is no object when it comes gig's,U just don't worry 'bout it.

c) you're a dick.

dude : 6 August 2003 - 3:02am

yeah...
a) tool put on a pretty amazing live show and are quite a lot "bigger" then the white stripes. They have 4 members of the band, including a monster fucken drumkit, and a crazy stage show. They are cunts and you would expect to pay a HIGH ticket price....however you would not expect the White stripes to be more.

b)...you're talking the chili peppers "stadium" shows...that is to be expected. This is at The Town Hall, not a stadium....i saw the chili's twice. Once at Show and Sports centre (Blood sugar Tour. Kicks the ass of "elephant" and a much more important album) and at The Queens wharf.(one hot minute tour...average show).both gigs I'm pretty sure were under $50.

I just think its kinda lame that The White Stripes are thinking of themselves in the territory of a "tool", they shoulda just came and played like 3 pub gigs, 3 nights in a row at like Indigo or sumit...for like $35 a show...You can't go on about how little it costs to record your album (they go, on and on about it) and how stripped back your show is and then charge $80 for tix..

fuck man...we better get dancing girls and a fucking good support act.

dude : 6 August 2003 - 12:51am

sell out cunts.

come here a couple of years back and play for like $10. The they try on $80!! who do they think they are, U2?!! fuck they're just another flash in the pan garage rock band.

Radiohead was only $48.50, less then $50!!
Smashing Pumpkins were only $51.
Beck was around $50ish from memory.

The White Stripes are no way near as important as any of these legends.

The gig should cost $40-$50, $60 Max. How much does it cost to bring 2 motherfuckers and some gear over...shit I'll lend em my fucken guitar amp, and they can crash at my mates place ya know...rock'n'roll my ass, those hotel staying motherfuckers

inflation is one thing....but $30 inflation, i don't think so..

dude : 27 July 2003 - 10:02pm

// great, another person jealous of their sucess, im sure they are sad that you dont get to go to sydney and play.

you don't have to be succesful to go to sydney. you just have to have a couple of hundy in the bank.

dude : 25 July 2003 - 4:40am

// There must be hundreds of Odessa's and D2's

ahhh. the D2's. I think I saw them play once with the Nissan's

dude : 6 June 2003 - 1:34pm

in review of Anschluss in Rip it up June/July 2003

"and the band's Rage Against The Machine influence's are obvious".

haha...seems like I'm not the only one.

dude : 6 June 2003 - 5:37am

was that video on space for real? Is it the early nineties again?
remind anyone else of Head like a hole - fish across face ?

dude : 29 May 2003 - 10:59am

I've heard "dial in" off the indie disc and the mp3s off their website.
The album could be completly different, but i doubt it.
They preached on that silly "boredroom" video on their website

hey i don't care. They're not my cup of tea. I don't get Metal. Maybe its good, but its not original.

dude : 29 May 2003 - 1:16am

its funny. I never realised people thought that the indicator dogs were original.

I always just thought they sounded like some bad amalgamation of R.A.T.M, Korn and S.O.A.D. and a bunch of other metal bands trying to write pop songs.

bands should stop preaching about how original they are.

dude : 1 April 2003 - 9:31pm

bugger, i meant "fly away"

dude : 30 April 2002 - 12:00am

I'm like a bird, I'll only float away.... (wrong)

I'm like a turd, I'll only float away...(right)

dude : 14 April 2002 - 11:54am

do you shoot for chch package?

dude : 14 April 2002 - 1:28am

// respect for their morals and messages in their songs

aahhhhh. so blindspott are christian nu-metal. I had heard this from alot of people but needed more evidence. But i feel that the extra "t" being the cross and all is probably the big selling factor.

dude : 19 December 2001 - 2:22pm

one last comment.... on this matter... wasn't it infact "deano" the bass player of tadpole who actually put together the "starfuckers" compilation from which the carraige h song that tadpole may have ripped off is on???? very, very interesting.
