Analog is a much better result as far as sound goes- API and studor tape makes a mean combination. Thats what they have at kog- makes the sound sooo much bettter. read the big post at the start and the summary- its on.

Just a further note....Ddub is not rock and they advertise on this site so lets expand the rock genre of this page to just a music forum. Its called 'NZ MUSIC' not 'NZ ROCK' and there are a heap of people who dont just listen to one genre of music...like me...the end. ;) Hip Hop NZ is different again and the crossover of the music scene is actually quite large if you consider the size of the industry and regarding who works with who...again the end...:)

yes yes great post, there are heaps of artists who are into hip hop and are mean musicians.
Im a volcalist/songwriter hooked up with Chong-Nee, Baitercell and other musicians just starting a new wave of musicality in the hip hop and soul R'n'B scene.pm me and keep in touch.Youre thinking ahead, which in music is often reflective of the pass (think Al Green, the funk bruthas, old school African chants)keep in touch. info@kog.co.nz

I find that some staff dont have a very wide range of music interests therefore if you come in one day wanting reggae, then the next day to ask about the latest NZ E.P. in hip hop that is out, they are totally uninterested and just say, have a look in the NZ music section. (which is often lacking in some NZ releases ditributed arouns the store.)There is always an exception to this (very 'on to it' stores who hire people for their knowledge instead of the coolness clothes and hair factor) but this a general comment.Larger stores like real groovy are heaps better due to the staff reading all the Real Grooves, Groove Guide and music press.

There cannot be one band/style that represents NZ music internationally because a sound (which is what music is) belongs to no-one as does a style/genre. We are a multicultural country and to try to catagorise something that cannot be catagoraised (a.k.a. music) will only result in confusion or misrepresentation which is quite damaging and that how wars start...Its like taking a picture of a beach and saying this represents nz...
