Sorry Blink, that list of songs isn't our playlist, just mainly the bands that Channel Z first introduced to NZ airwaves and are now overplayed on TheRock/The Edge as you said:)
Well we're not trying to kick up an old thing, we have got alot o different music from artists that aren't your usual Channel Z artists but also aren't mainstream. But don't take that as if we are just taking the name. We have got some good Bnet artists as you have listed we have got.
Im going to have to change that playlist bit, it does give the wrong impression.
No we don't have the big budget so online streaming is going to be the best way for us to broadcast and we're hoping that will be appealing. If things go good and listner cap keeps rising we hope itll catch some attention which we can get money from. If not, its going to stay an online station and also an LPF Station somewhere in Central Auckland. As they say, good things take time.
Joanna i see your point, i personally as a listener felt that it was about the music but as Angelina, ex-host, pointed out to me a while back; money is always the issue. I see now how thats important and good on you for filling out the survey. From the listeners I've talked to, they would turn down the survey if brought in front of them. The majority listeners just weren't people who wanted to be grouped or be apart of a generalisation.
Any questions or problems please feel free to ask. Advice is also appreciated:)
Haha ok tell me how many Channel Z listeners would have completed one of those radio surveys? Tell me was Channel Z a station that was looking to be number 1? Did its listeners care about been "cool" or about what a chart had to say about their music? I think not.
Ratings were of importance to suits, not staff and listeners.
Critizise more please...oh yeh, got an offer to buy us out from bfm. Why would that be? According to you, Z wasn't a contributor to radio was it because of "ratings"
To quote Bomber off from one of his recent blog posts:
"And they took Channel Z off for this station? Who would have thunk NZ music could sink so low? Oh, and the real icing on the cake - this band will 'play' on the red carpet at the NZ Music Awards - kinda like getting NZ Idol to open for U2."
Joanna, we will be taking on the most recent music format BUT it is going to be stretched with alot more infulence of the original channel z music play list. We are taking on any kiwi bands that want some air play including some that aren't as 'channel z' such as some metal bands and a little more dance, techno.
Have just signed deal with Warners and at the moment approaching other record companys.
ok lets hear your suggestions? we are open to all and accept anyones opinion
to all, just ignore styley. he'll fade away.
he must be a listener to the edge or zm.
im proud to say that over some time now (reason y i havnt been on here in ages) is that i myself and another associate are in the works with radioworks for buying the rights to channel z.
i stress we ARE NOT the people that made the bringbackz.co.nz campaign which was an empty cause. we have got the radio gear and we have the experience on board with us.
already own and run 102.5 on the westcoast. YES we are keeping the old z formatt of playlist, YES we are changing the look SLIGHTLY and YES there will be new hosts.
my associate is in greymouth at the moment and will be here in auckland soon. once here we will be broadcasting auckland, then wanting to move to its origin welligton and so forth. yes there will be online streaming after a while. no we are not been funded by some huge corporate comapny, this is starting from scratch.
have already talked with ex hosts and they are happy with what we are doing, have steriogram behind us too and have the z name on the nz zombiewalk which is to be held in auckland, queen st, 8pm halloween.
please visit us and add: http://www.myspace.com/channelznetwork
this myspace page is what we are using to get the word out before we go online, it has up todate BDO announcements and we have alot of contacts in music.
honestly who gives a shit about this group of social light hogging losers run by an even worse music humping station.

Joanna obviously i have not read anything from a backstreet boy fan because it is something that i don't intend to search for or look over when on the net. Unlike anything on this website which does interest me.
Okay im terribly sorry with all my heart and soul for not using the 'reply to post' feature.
The irony indeed Noizy, i would have to put these posts up with the 'worst fukin things iv read on the net' list. I apologise partly on that.
oh lol.
na wit the booze i didnt mean i got a rush from that becuase i was drinking it.
i would have back at BDO '05 when i got into the garden bar. wat i meant was that because prior to the gig me and my m8 had a few beers then made the mistake of skulling down a glass o gin each and hopped on a bus to the city lol.
dont mix drinks folks.
arrh i c. all good. hey that link to hubris, well...umm...that article...thats the worst fukin thing iv read on the net...why the fuk do u need to re cap over an episode? i was thinking maybe it had some conclusion to it but its just babble about crap. who the fuk writes those rock star articles?
...wait do you write up this crap? i hope not.
na no need to diss it...but i was hoping it would maybe express more of the singers abilitys and maybe just maybe about their potential in this show, not who gets wat song or their hair styles.
wasnt this this show about finding a lead singer to a band of so called "rock legends". but it seems to be getting more attention from their feuds and personalitys than their talent or potential to lead this band supernova.
hrmm......
...the wheel lives on though....dont c anything else remotely like z
iv read that article b4, its outdated (2003). it does show that z should be still continuious if thats what your prooving? which i dnt think u r....hrmm u should of read the article b4 posting it...
hahaha just maybe because u didnt listen to z dnt mean there werent people listening to z. just like wat right would a heavy metal listener have to dropping a pop radio station just because their music society that they are in dont listen to it?
just because not everyone listened to alternative rock and indie kiwi music doesnt mean that its not as valuable as other stations were at the time. dont forget that it was channel z that introduced a majority of our mainstream rock artists to nz like franz ferdinand, muse and the white stripes.
do not forget that channel z was also the gateway for up and coming nz arists such as the feelers, pluto, goldenhorse and the veils.
oh yes lets not forget that it was on channel zs big night in that steriogram first broke through and since then became one of the most commercialised kiwi band ever with many contracts to overseas advertising such as ,at the time, apples brand new product the IPOD.
with that aside this topic was on 'rockstar' not your failure to understand my user name.
yeh thts believeable lol. i could easily set up my own death and put me on there.
good point but u c, channel z was not taken off air because it was no longer of its time and no longer had an audience. it was taken off due to corporate wankers.
the crue, metallica and gunners didnt drop becuase thier contracts all got cut due to suits who wanna change the scene, they ran past thier limit.
whereas MTV didnt work here at first because it had a low audience rating and wasnt at all a contributor to the media scene in nz. hence the reason it was taken away.
z was the only station that gave so much exposure to nz music including indy bands. z was the only satation with so much variety and wasnt run to the mainstream market from overseas.
the whole "rockstar" thing is an embaressment to rock music. just like 'idol' but with ex stars who havnt got anything goin for them anymore but past reference.
Inxs is now a disgrace to aussie music. what would hutchings of thought?
i quote jimmy barnes (aussie legend) "michael would be rolling in his grave if he knew"
as for the new series.....just disgraceful. the dude from the gunners aint a real gunner is he. hes of the axel era not the guns n roses era.
dude from metallica, u aint gonna go anywhre if u have left a band as big as metallica, no real fan will accept him taking on a cheesy show like rockstar.
as for lee, seriously he should just get outta the public limelight. the crue are no more and so should he. he stopped been a great musician when he became a celebrity.
come on people, we gotta accept that music just hasnt got great rock n rollers like it use to. there are few but wont ever be as great. stop trying to ressurect these greats otherwise there last moments in their carrers will be what will be their let down.
that reminds me of the classic cult film 'Clerks"
i get pretty good service at music stores i go to. it varies really. some know exactly what you want and give/tell you everything i want to know.
then you get the ones who say "il just check" and type on the computer then look at u as if they have no significance in life and say "sorry dont got it" then go back pricing cds.
So who else besides myself went to the "back in Brown" launch party?
it was a fukin awesome night, especially for me.
i got a real rush cause i myself and my m8 were the only ones in the place under 18....and it could o been the mix o booze b4 i had b4 going....
isnt it cool to have yo name on the door and know the bouncer lol
so...who went dejavoodoo launch party?
i might o seen u there hahahaha. and the funny thing was i am underage but my name was on the door. if u didnt go...well shame on u....muahahaha
back in brown special edition rocks!!
so much politics behind an obvious problem. kiwi doesnt and wont work for whatever purpose u put foward. money down the drain....
Great band based in L.A.
2 of the 3 members are kiwis so u could say a great kiwi L.A based band. They want to head over here in December/January but need sum guaranteed gigs they can play.
Not signed up yet but support would be great.

check them @: http://www.myspace.com/thepistolwhips
ok thats all kool but WAT TIME!!
*im a high skool student so i dont know wat tyms*
sad how we pay for this crap aye....o wait did any1 knw tht these shows are funded by tax payer money. same as dancing wit the stars. funny how the charitys could o got more money from the amount spent on making the show than from the actual money made from voting....thts one problem with TVNZ been owned by the government.
i laugh at the pple who audition for these shows, they are such hyped up & over confident, ignorent, naive fools.
seriously....its an ad....this site has quite suttle ads compared to other sites on the net...u want the site to run. live with the ads
Luke here, you already know answer to that.
BRAINS!!!
