Come check out our 'augmented' line up with bass and sax at Indigo/San Francisco Bathhouse tonight. 10pm start, free entry and cheap drinks. We're also supporting The Moon Whispers at Happy on May 3.
Thanks groggy,
will definitely do that, what's the best way to get in touch? email, phone or just come along to the premises? If you want to email me the address is solaytv@yahoo.com.au
It's on Adelaide Road, (hence the name) Newtown, I think Mestar are playing there soon. Haven't checked it out yet, but apparently the set up is cool.
I'm thinking about trying to organise a weekend slot mid-May at somewhere like the Adelaide, and maybe try and get spiderplain and the dukes along as well. What do ya reckon?
Hey Ollie, as far as I know the Tuesday Indigo gig is a one-band affair, but we'd be keen to play with Spiderplain again at some point before Mike leaves in May if you're keen
And for some reason the gig guide insists that we're playing at the Astoria in London (if only!) despite my attempts to change the details. Be assured the gig is at Room 101.
It is with some regret that we announce that after a rather hermetic 4 year 'career', the original line up of Cue the Sun is about to come to an end, with drummer Mike Burgess heading overseas. Playing just 4 gigs and a live-to-air in that time we might be accused of laziness, but in fact we've been hibernating and honing new material, much of which will be unleashed for the first (and possibly last) times at Room 101 on Thursday, April 13 and San Francisco Bathhouse (formerly Indigo) on Anzac Day.
We will be supported at the Room 101 gig by good friend Defect, who will be making his live debut. An astonishing performer (imagine if Roots Manuva had grown up in the arcane setting of the West Coast of the South Island and you might have some idea of what to expect), and an accomplished producer, wordsmith and MC, this will be a debut you won't want to miss.
Visual accompaniment will be present as with all Cue the Sun gigs. Hope to see you there!
Ah yes, I sometimes wonder how many of these posts are the direct result of boring work places :) thank god from nzmusic.com eh? I can't believe I haven't gotten round to doing this sooner.
a big thanks to the dukes of leisure for inviting us to support the release of their fantastic ep, I thought the three bands on the night really complimented each other well (not so sure about the dope smoking wizard though . . . perhaps a little too much of the "sponsor's" product? or perhaps not enough?)
and thanks to kirk for the compliment, we aim to do nothing more than create as much noise with the two of us as possible, but look out for some new additions to the line up in the near future.
And what a start - a response straight away! you are a nice man Mr Scott Mandibbles, you multi-talented bastard
We're currently busy in the studio working on a selection of tunes for our debut release. Tracked live at Trident Studios just before Mike departed to the states, the recordings will feature a number of guests including Jo Whalley on saxaphone, Kirsten Johnstone on flute, and Matt Scott on Rhodes. Stay tuned . . .
