Nice to see that you are getting some recognition for what you do, Joanna. Regardless of how I view you personally, I do enjoy reading Hubris from time to time. You're a good writer.

blink, those are extraordinary photos. Have you submitted them to some publication or other? Sublime quality.

To all those who are going - have a great one. Take sunscreen with you, don't drink or consume too many mind altering substances, stay away from men in macs, stay safe and most of all, enjoy the music.

love a good cigar, wainui. Usually a cigarillo as opposed to a big old stogie though!

There are plenty of schools that give their kids breakfast in the morning. Ring your local school and if they don't already do it, it wouldn't cost much to provide. A lot of teachers pay out of their own pockets for kids to have something to eat in the morning, so they would love to hear from someone willing to help out. Go for it.

Good for you, WR. It's a nice feeling, eh?

jackieg : 24 December 2006 - 9:39am

cheers for that, foal. I'm doing the last of my Xmas shopping (well all of it, really) today, so I'll look out for it.

jackieg : 23 December 2006 - 11:46am

you know what I mean

Here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas. Whether you're a pagan or a Christian, a Muslim or Hindu, an atheist or agnostic, a spiritual being or a dark void of angst, have a good one. I hope that everyone has a family to go to, be it blood relations or a group of friends that have become family for you. I hope that you all feel close, at some point, to feeling a sort of happiness or even just contentment. Be close to those you love you, if only for a day. And if you can't be close to them, think about them and know that someone, somewhere, loves you. It's a good thing. Peace out.

Is it just me, or did the reporting of the "fact" that this thoroughly unlikeable fella had a half tattooed face, strike anyone else as a wee bit extraneous?

jackieg : 23 December 2006 - 11:34am

Thanks for that Noizyboy - except my age means I've seen it already, I was disappointed to find!

jackieg : 9 December 2006 - 8:49am

thanks for that, lughead - appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it, you jammy bastard!

jackieg : 24 November 2006 - 8:29pm

As it happens, whoever you are with all your various names, Wainuiomata is a very good man, and he's entirely right.

I wish I could vote on this, being a lover of Wellington and all, but since it's been a good 26 years since I lived there, and I was a teenager, I'm not familiar with some of the places named in the categories.Good idea though. When I landed there in May for a weekend with friends, it was all so familiar and yet not. I love love love Wellington. I love the hills, I love the wind, I love the way that the Cuba St Mall has changed and yet it's still the same feel. I love what they've done with the waterfront - let's face it, Auckland could use some lessons in civic planning from the WCC. I love the compact feeling of town, and I love the wide open feel of it. Made me all nostalgic, and reminded me of the promise I made to my darling friends who live in Berhampore, that I would come down more often!

Thanks for that, Noizyboy. Interesting. I seem to remember White Russians.....and how sad to see Jordan Luck so young and beautiful, as he indeed used to be. I'd have to cast my mind a fair way back to remember the live Auckland scene in 1984. As I recall, the Screaming Meemees and dance exponents etc were the thing. I don't remember seeing much music live, really. If we did, like I said, it's lost in the mists of time. Much of my social life rotated around Varsity, and the Shadows bar at the time, and I'm not sure we ever had live bands there. Made me think, now.

I taped EJ's concert at Radio City Hall, and I'm just watching it. Spellbinding. I'm just so jealous, lughead.

jackieg : 7 November 2006 - 7:59pm

Lughead, have you got a website that you can post all those photos you are going to take? Oh and where you can also post an extensive gig review? You do? Good man!

jackieg : 4 November 2006 - 10:06pm

I've made some interesting musical discoveries this year - thanks to myspace, and the ever lovely Graham Reid. Salon Kingsadore and the gorgeous Gionamarco Liguori; Sundae Club; onelung; Little Glitches; Sam Sallon; Nightmares on Wax; Kings of Convenience; Cities of Foam amongst others. My best ever discovery has to be One Million Dollars. Love them muchly, and I've even gone so far as to go to a live gig at the Safari Lounge. And no-one ever drags me out on a school night to see a gig unless they're really special. Wonderful.

jackieg : 4 November 2006 - 9:59pm

Bless! It's an interesting place, this, with some interesting contributors. You are one of those, m'dear.

jackieg : 4 November 2006 - 12:13am

Exactly, Heather. I like to think I bring something extra to the NZM mix.

jackieg : 2 November 2006 - 10:25pm

forty bloody bastards - why can't he come to Auckland? the one musician I have loved all my life. Harrumph. I've seen him live a few times in various places around the globe - guess this year won't be one of those times. Ne'er mind.

jackieg : 1 November 2006 - 7:39pm

mucho excited - when is the God of all Glam coming? he's only going to Wellington, right?

jackieg : 27 October 2006 - 7:42pm

Musiquarium is on Dominion Rd - across the road from Davis Funeral Services. Great, great shop.

jackieg : 21 October 2006 - 9:19am

I love him, Wainui. Always have. I even had his disco album in 1978. Now, that's dedicated!

jackieg : 21 October 2006 - 12:12am

Oh Lucy_Fur, I am so so sorry. That sucks the big one. Hugs to you.
