Hey Jon Jr
We are a Promotion service that is going to be providing LIVE music events around Auckland. We are only small at the moment as we have just started, therefore don't have alot of money behind us. We aren't out to rip anyone off, we simply get a buzz from organising gigs from start to finish, and are offering bands who might otherwise find it difficult to hook up gigs, a chance to play in front of a live audience.
We don't charge bands a fee for our services. We offer them a percentage of the ticket sales after expenses have been covered. If they are not happy with the offer, then they are welcome to go and organise their own gig. But we feel bands should be concentrating on the artistic side things, rather than having to worry about all the work that goes into organising a gig. All a band should have to do is show up, play then get paid. We do the rest. We are not scamming anyone.
As far as our offer of $50 for a sound guy goes... the P.R bar is a very small venue, so ticket sales will be restricted. This means only a small amount of money can be realisticly spent on marketing and sound etc. When we are promoting larger gigs at larger venues we will be offering more money for sound guys. If a sound guy feels $50 isn't enough money then he simply wont email me. On the other hand a training sound engineer might be more than happy to gain some experience, have a good night out and get paid for it.
I'm tired of people being so quick to jump in and try to bring something down. Is it just New Zealand? Or is it like this everywhere?
The event management company Rushour Promo, requires a sound engineer for Sat the 9th of April 2005.
Must live in Auckland area, and be able to get into the city.
Pay is $50 cash for three hours work. 9pm - 12am
email me... manager@rushourpromo.com
We may be able to help.
