Hi There,
Living legend George Henderson from classic band The Puddle makes a rare Auckland appearance at this Thursday's Indie Club at Bacio situated upstairs from Kiss Bar at 309 K'rd. There will be a limited quantity of their masterpiece album "Songs For Emily Valentine" available at the special Indie Club entry deal that includes a CD. Other acts also playing include ..... The Pleasures of June, Seren Las and Bor'tas.
THE PUDDLE
Seminal Dunedin band the Puddle were formed in 1983 by leader-singer-writer-guitarist George D Hendeson and Bass player Ross Jackson- in their time many of the lummaries of the Dunedin music scene (Shayne Carter, Peter Gutteridge, Leslie Paris, Norma O'Malley, Richard Steele, Alan Starett, Martin Phillipps) have played in the ranks of the Puddle: the Puddle's drummer is Heath Te Au, who played with George in Mink in the 1990's. The Puddle have released the following recordings; Pop Lib, Into The Moon, Live at the Teddy Bear Club (all on Flying Nun) and singles Thursday/Too Hot to be Cool (FN) and The Power of love (acetone); they also had a hit with Southern Man which appeared on 3 compilations. The Puddle's latest CD "Songs for Emily Valentine" is out now on Powertool Records, and the Puddle are now recording new songs in Wellington. The Puddle's catholic mix of pop, blues, psychedelia, jazz, minimalism, rock'n'roll and god-knows-what-else appeals to humans of all ages who are not too proud to dance and the lyrics of love, sex, drugs, bewilderment and space travel are clearly audible at all times. Once known as psych-pop, the Puddle's style has since become hugely influencial and many of today's musicians owe what cool they have to ill-acknoledged liftings from the Puddle songbook. Once-cult-now-people's favourites, and widely considered one of New Zealand's most inspiring live acts, today the Puddle are hotter than ever.

Upcoming shows at the Indie Club.
As you are no doubt aware the video for the new single NO HAY CUCHARA is online, free download available from our MySpace site, and will be on your TV screens very soon. The Pop Channel and C9TV have already scheduled playing it plus ALT TV, New Zealand, will have it on heavy rotation in the build up to the second NZ tour in March.
ZHAIN had a phenomenal 2006 having decided to reform after hearing tracks from the 70's played on the radio in Los Angeles. 100 shows in 15 countries on four continents followed and the buzz started building. 2007 looks like being even busier as ZHAIN build on the foundation they established in 2006.
ZHAIN go from strength to strength with one of the hottest shows on the road. Blistering rock laced with melodies and hooks that set this band apart from the competition. Make no mistake, these guys take no prisoners going for the kill at every show. This is the real deal, accept no substitutes!
ZHAIN look forward to working with friends old and new during 2007. They are scheduled to tour exciting new territories, Korea, Israel, Eastern Europe, New Zealand & Australia as well as those previously visited including a full U.S. tour. Get ready to experience the ride of your life as ZHAIN take you beyond the existing limits of rock'n'roll.
Zhain will be performing one show in Auckland on March 16th at Bacio, located at 309 K Road, Auckland. Support acts for the night will be Ladivane www.myspace.com/laddinvane , hailing from west Auckland, you know these guys are going to rock. To open the night we have another local band Calamity Jam www.myspace.com/calamityjamband , with a strong Brit Indie Pop flavour, they will bound to start the night off right.
Tickets are on sale now through www.ticketmaster.co.nz and local outlet offices. Pre-sales are $25.00 + BF or $30.00 on the night. Doors open at 8.30 PM
The Indie Club Shop is an extension of the Indie Club. Since starting the Indie Club, I've discovered there are tons of unsigned bands that have no distribution. With Indie Club Shop, this is an avenue for bands or artists to distribute their music via our various channels. It is a non-exclusive service, therefore artists are free to find other forms of distribution as well. Our forms of distribution and promotion include.....
1. The Indie Club gig nights
2. The Indie Club website
3. Independent record stores
4. Our overseas trading partners
5. Drill magazine
6. Indie Club Sampler
INFO:
How it all works
1. Whilst we do sell demos at the Indie Club at present, it is becoming very clear that cds should be finished product ie: of saleable quality with covers and a disc that has printing on it and in a standard jewel case (sorry no slim line cases please). Presentation is everything, quite often people don't know what the music is like and are judging their purchase on how they look. It is almost impossible to sell a disc that has no cover and just the name of the band scrawled on the cd in felt pen.
2. Joining the Indie Club is FREE.
3. To begin with, send us 5x copies of your CD. When we require more stock we will buy eps for NZ$6 and albums for NZ$10 from you. These prices are reflective of the Indie Club pricing structure.
4. We also need a bio and pic so we can build your page. If you have your own website or a myspace site, please send through links so that we can add those as well.
5. You will also need to supply us with your contact details ie: contact person, postal adress, email, phone number etc. This is so that we can contact you.
6. An account will be set up for you. You will need to let us know how you would like to be paid ie: direct into your bank account, cheque, paypal etc. Payments will be made on a monthly basis at the end of each month.
7. Checklist: Send 5x copies of your cd (stock will be held on sale or return), include a bio and a pic we can use. Supply your contact details and the method of how you would like to be paid.

NEWS
The last Self Made Club happened last Thursday the 14th December at the Galatos Basement. It was a great night.... thanks to all those that made it along.
We've decided to discard all the themes names for the different nights. The reason being that we want to simlify the brand to just 'The Indie Club'. Some gig guides have been a little confused and hopefully this move will sort that out.
NEW!! We have a new venue starting up called Baico .....situated on K'rd, upstairs from Kiss . We will be operating there every Thursday from the 25th January.
We are taking bookings now!!!
NEW!! Join the Indie Club. .... just print out and fill in the Club Coupon to the left with your name, address and email address and bring along with you on an Indie Club night and get in for $10 (with a free cd) instead of the regular $15 Entry.

The Kaleidoscope World Series is an event where you experience a sample of eight to ten bands in one night doing short twenty minute showcase sets. It's all about exposure, expanding bands audiences and broadening punters experiences of what's happening in the "live" music scene. This is an ideal opportunity to discover new talent in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. I intend to mix it up, cross-pollinating the genres, get not just crowds mixing, but also bands talking to each other.Upon entry, each patron will receive a sampler cd of all the artists appearing on the night.
