I really liked The Living End (definite highlight!) and I thought it wasn't until End of Fashion or Spiderbait that the crowd really starting getting into the swing of things - when the Sun came out. Not really into Hip Hop but I really enjoyed seeing King Kapsi for a couple of tracks. Made the trip up from Queenstown - it was only after a link was shown at http://www.forthemasses.net that I found out about it. Looking forward to the next one!
It's a fantastic new record from Shihad... so many elements to it... dark, sad.... but then happy and warm. I love this record!!
Abit of a silly discussion - both have great bands... Shihad, Grinspoon, Living End, Degrees K, Betadupa etc...
It's a proud day for Shihad... it takes guts to do what they've just done. I wasn't too worried about the name to Pacifier originally... but I'm just so fucken stoked they changed it back.
Are you thinking something along the lines of
A) The Cats Away

The above post applies to The Mint Chicks... I've seen Degrees K many times and you guys are right - they totally rock!
I saw them at Bodega - I wasn't too impressed. I've seen them before at the Hard Rock Cafe in Queenstown on the previous EP tour and they were great.
Queenstown:
best places to get a cheap feed (finding a curry in palmy under $10 seemed impossible):
O'Connells food court? possibly the only place to get a cheap feed (a Kebab costs $9 - 10 in QT) - recommend the Indian place inside it.
best cheap accomodation:
Loads of backpackers - take yr pick.
best post gig hangout :
The Bunker/BarUp/McNeils
what promo works best in your town:
Posters and word of mouth
best point of contact person who know's how to get what you need:
Play It Again (PIA) record store
best kept secret:
Debajos in Cow Lane
Saw you in Queenstown - you guys rock. Love the "New Concepts In Sound Recordings" EP.
Check out The Datsuns' new website - it's good
http://www.thedatsuns.com
Letterbox Lambs & Weta. Did Two Lane Blacktop split? if so, them as well.
Saw them in Queenstown at the Hard Rock... loved their performance and EP!
Dead Flowers & The Feelers in Invercargill some time in the 90s... we were underage but were still let in. Fond memories of a Dead Flower member reading some f**ked up poetry, really enjoyed the night :) Great introduction to rock/pop!
Awesome band, awesome crowd (who are really into the band) and a big guitar sound. Most of all something that you can dance to.
I've just arrived back in home (Queenstown) after Wellington True Colours - it was fantastic! All the bands were amazing- I never thought I would be into Blindspott but they have a great live show. Such a mix of muso's from Shape Shifter to Betchadupa (unfortuantely only caught the last few songs of their set - fantastic closing song in Drop D). Fanastic night!
opps... my bad. some how I missed the posts above. never mind!
