That's cause I don't think that's important - whoever's interested can state what instrument they can provide, and I'll say yeah, we need one of those, or nah. What we don't get we can pre-program, though I'd prefer not to - previous troubles with minidiscs, you see.

I'm not all scenepinky.

Probably none of those songs would be played live. New stuff mainly. As for a set, it depends how many we get together. Quit being so ordinary :p

Well, not exactly. But I've received an email from Soundproof, who want us to play live there. And that they've actually sampled luna spark's music, so they must already know it's not a Dimebag tribute band.

So does anyone wanna give doing a live version a shot? Surprisingly, it has been done, in 2002, at Soundproof, in support of the Shrugs. The minidisc with the drums on it would stop during songs at random.

Anyone?

Ah k. I thought it was just a minor thing in the background of the Verve track. And Marc Bolan pinched that riff offa Chuck Berry or someone anyway... Oasis were heavily Beatles influenced, but didn't actually rip off any Beatles tracks, when you listen to them. Blur always sounded more like the Beatles anyway, even going as far to name a track that sounded just like the Beatles 'Beetlebum'... but the songs are different, so yeah. No one ever complains that every metal band sounds the same...

To say 48May's record would've sorted the legal angle before releasing the song is a laugh. Chances are, whoever these Bowling Soup guys are, they're probably never going to even hear of 48May, let alone give two shits.

For the record, the Verve didn't get snapped for plagiarising, it was because one of the samples on 'Bittersweet..' wasn't cleared before the track was released - it was just some bell in the background or something. Nothing to do with the song whatsoever.

hey hey. Songwriter here, looking for people early/mid 20s, looking to form a band (duh) - think a mix of Weezer/Joy Division/Nirvana/New Order (yes, it CAN work, though it mightn't sound like it right away) - virtusity not essential, just creativity/enthusiasm - the link below is to another project altogether, this is completely separate, but feel free to check it out anyway :p

It's all about the song, and the way the song is produced. Saying 'using computers is cheating' would invalidate close on 100% of music produced nowadays; unless you listen to records only on vinyl that were mastered directly from the original half inch tape... I doubt ANY records are produced this way nowadays...

I started off using a 4track, upgraded to borrowing my friend's digital mixer, now use my own computer - not only for synths and drum machines (which would be rather difficult to produce manually, if not impossible...), but for mixing/mastering/cutting CDs.

Does anyone who thinks computers are cheating have a viable alternative?
