I am trying to find out more about a NZ Band called Kapital - they have a wicked song called 'Something Real' playlisted on 95bFM. Can anyone tell me more about them?
Any recordings?
Any tour plans?

thank you

The bnet plays HEAPS of NZ Music. Good unreleased stuff especially.

This is an Australian nz music show i send lots of nz music to:

ABC's Radio Australia has just launched a new daily two hour live music based programme, which broadcasts to the Asia-Pacific region. A program is called " In the Loop" .

Radio Australia is the international service of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
As well as being available on the net - www.abc.net.au/intheloop and short-wave
(world-wide) - we can also be heard on FM Bands in Asia and the Pacific.

One of our goals is to promote New Zealand music overseas and the new segment will feature new releases and interviews with singer-songwriters and musicians as well as profiles of touring artists and performers.

You are exactly right. The NZ music and media scene is all very small. Many, many people read these nzmusic forums even if they are not registered as members and can not reply.
I think it is awesome that Camilla got on-line and joined in - rather than sit back and bitch about how whack the forum is and how pathetic people are bitching about her under fake names. I know plenty of musicians that read these forums and often read hurtful stuff about themselves....many of whome are not registered members...

lungi : 7 June 2005 - 7:06pm

I think Camilla is great - and i reckon can totally take credit for introducing heaps of new cool music to people that would not usually be into that sort of thing - via bFM and C4.
She is WAY more natural and down to earth compared to some of the other presenters on both mediums and i love it that she laughs lots and is honest.... and of course - she IS really cute!

I just found this - quite funny review and award ceremony of the bnets done by cheeseontoast.co.nz

- Under 'Words' - called 'The bNets Feature'

What did you think of the awards?

I was sad for SJD and Tha Feelstyle for not winning anything. they were both nominated quite a few times and deserved to win something i reckon...

The award ceremony - Fantastic venue, good having the after party there too - i thought the bingo was dumb, and the cover of 'hope' was embarassing and would have been tragic for the fat freddys guys to listen to and watch - it was for me!
I didn't think Kirsten Morelle should have won best female fox either.

oh well - each to their own. -As Hugh Sundae said 'One persons 'Pixies' is another persons 48May'

Yes - Dave Yetton is bringing a solo album out through FMR mid June,
Its called 'Blow Out your Candles', and from what i have heard, it is absolutely beautiful.

I have started to listen to national radio heaps more over the last couple of months.
You should try waking up to it each morning - its quite a different vibe than waking up to bNet radio...
I am not as passionate as some about the bird calls - although i am glad they are keeping them.
I am however passionate about the National radio music shows on a saturday - i hope they don't change the format, shows, reviewers or the hosts too much...

Best Birthday:
Getting really out-of-it with good, honest mates.

lungi : 18 May 2005 - 12:36am

I would prefer a band with great songs but were lacking in the stage show department.
The trick is - the band can never perform live... just do amazing recordings for people to buy.

lungi : 18 May 2005 - 12:14am

Congratulations Fat Freddys Drop - 2nd week in a row at #1 in the NZ album charts.
The album is beautiful, well worth the wait. Lets not wait so long for the next one aye??

Devil Rider,
Sorry, but it looks like your brother is lying to you...cause last time i was in LA, i went for a walk and met a stray coyote who i named Raymond too. The coyote (Raymond) then told me that he was friends with Mr Shatner and confirmed that he nor Mr Shatner had never been to New Zealand.

In Auckland head to The Kings Arms - in a part of town called Newton. Its quite close to Karangahapi Rd (K Rd). On K rd there is a little bar called 'Edens Bar' - there are often very cool indie bands playing there in the weekend - however if you are in town on thursday night there is a night on called "Kiss and make up club" lots of cool dj's.

You shoul really try and make it to the South island. Its really beautiful down there - and if you go to Christchirch - go to the Dux De Lux. this is the best bar by far in the city and has local music playing most nights. they make nice beer too.

lungi : 8 March 2005 - 1:00am

Although... there is a song by Goodshirt called 'Lucy" and the lyrics in the chorus say something that sounds like "juicy"...its on their new album.

lungi : 3 March 2005 - 5:13pm

Three issues - 1st. Savage on the cover. 2nd. Misfits of Science on the cover. 3rd P Money on the cover - these last ones might have not been promoted as well...
They are in liquidation, so it would not suprise me if subscribers are out of pocket. Some staff that worked there are also totally out of pocket - like are owed thousands of dollars....

lungi : 3 March 2005 - 5:10pm

The first Auckland showcase was last night - it went really well - apart from a few sound problems...
I thought the sound for The coolies and the fanatics was really bad - apparently the PA blew out or something. Both bands did a wicked set too.
The Checks were great - Connor (NME) was very impressed and had lengthy conversations with their manager. The night finished off with die!die!die! - they were awesome - the sound again was dodgey.

Tonight there is another showcase - paseload, baitercell and Schumacher, Misfits of Science etc etc and tomorrow night (Saturday) there is a Mai FM Dawn Raid showcase - not sure how well this will go down with the Resonate guests as they are all very honest about being 'indie kids'. This is weird too - because Mai FM invested lots of cash into the Resonate project to fly these guests over, you would think that they woudl get someone over from the UK that appreciated hip hop - since thats their main type of music they are promoting...

lungi : 3 March 2005 - 4:50pm

They actually stopped after 3 issues - prepared a 4th, but did not have enough money to put it to print.
There is talk that someone might be buying the brand or he (editor) might be selling the magazine on...
They owe a lot of people money.
It was a wicked magazine, they just spent cash on the wrong things too early in the game...
