Thanks for that guys. didn't see anything to buy though. Good info though.
If you go here you can see an interview with Zane. Quite short but good to see what he's up to.

I saw in the NME with Grant Nicholls on the cover that there was an ad by a band called Zed. Different looking guys from the NZ ones though. Also there is a band in Australia calling themselves Rubicon. Naughty.
The 'scenes' in sydney and melbourne are massive. there is a huge network of people helping out bands. street press like the drum and revolver. it's way easier to be a band in sydney or melbourne. funny thing is they moan about it haha. i'm just glad nz doesn't play american music like the aussies though. They are still caught up in the blink 182 sound at the moment. Poor sods!
Here's what my friend had to say about Neil in Boston.
Yup, last Saturday was the Neil Finn show and, as
predicted, it was excellent. It was in a really small
club, very intimate. He played for nearly 2 & 1/2
hours and he was just perfect. My favorite song I
think was Four Seasons in One Day. He let the
audience sing the chorus and everybody sounded great,
singing in harmonies and everything. The only song I
was hoping for that he didn't play was Distant Sun,
but the rest was so good I can forgive him for that.
We got quite a few Crowded House songs actually. I
was also really impressed with the opening act, Ed
Harcourt. He has a really great voice and is a good
songwriter. I'd never even heard of him before, but
I'm glad Neil brought him along. It was a great,
great show.
Here's some info for their upcoming australian tour.
THE D4 & THE STALKERS
Kick this shit to the next stop... tour.
Are you going too fast for the unexpected... pedal to the floor as the rock ‘n’ droll passes you by... Then kick this shit to the next stop and get set for some real cool action. Rip the streets apart in August as New Zealand`s THE D4 and Australia`s THE STALKERS make a run to the next station on an all out riotous rock ‘n’ roll party...
THE D4 are New Zealand`s most talked about rock action since... well The Datsuns. Currently the fave of the UK press with their new album 6Twenty, they were described in the NME as "playing mean garage punk rock with nods towards Motorhead and AC/DC and a pinch of Jon Spencer. They make the sort of joyous, mucky noise that The Hives, try as they might, consistently fail to render." Ask no questions rock’n’roll with the likes of Johnny Thunders, New York Dolls and Guitar Wolf, firmly in their sights. All you could ever want from a garage band, but also a little more.
THE STALKERS are the new band kicked to life by Ben Ely (Regurgitator) along with pals Peter Kostic (Front End Loader, Regurgitator), Ray Ahn (Hard Ons, Nunchukka Superfly) and Raymond Lalotoa. Their motive... to play some rock ‘n’ roll. Good clean fun spliced with garage rock ala 70`s punk meets Detroit Radio Birdman. At present getting their shit together for a debut EP out on Valve in early October.
Wed Aug 14 - Melbourne, The Tote (with guests The Blacklist)
Thu Aug 15 - Mt Hotham, Snowbird Inn
Fri Aug 16 - Sydney, Annandale Hotel (with guests The City Lights)
Sat Aug 17 - Byron Bay, Great Northern (with guests Knaw)
Sun Aug 18 - Brisbane, The Gabba Hotel (with guests Knaw)
No time to stop 'til yer knocked down by the rock...
THE D4 - new single Party out on FMR in July. THE STALKERS - debut EP out on Valve in October.

Is Anchor Me available as a single at all? If so, from where?

I know that makes me all the more qualified as i've lived 2 years in London, 2 years in Sydney and dear god 20 years in Auckland. London has the best gigs. Sydney has the best support network for bands (though people in Melbourne will tell you otherwise) and Nz as a whole just rocks like a banshee. So there!
Probably an old debate but i have to say after 2 years of living in Sydney that i'm fucking proud to be from a country where we play decent music that is just plain fucking brillant. Australia is still stuck in the old punk and metal scene. Ever known an australian to be subtle. Can you imagine them singing a song like "not given lightly"? Not likely. NZ music fucking rocks. I had the best time from 94-98 when the music floored it. Supergroove, Shihad, Pumpkinhead, Pash, Loves Ugly Children and every body else from that period. Unfortunatly it went a bit pear shaped with the Feelers and that boh chick but hey there are tons more better stuff coming out. By the way all that NZ vs Australia stuff, it's all media propaganda. They don't even know things like plasters or twink. In fact they know nothing about NZ and our cultures are so far apart it's not funny. All this comrades in arms stuff is bollocks. Viva la musica de nueva zelanda para siempre!!!!
you only have to check their website to see that they have gone in to record their new album. I hope they do some shows though. Why should bloody melbourne get the last gigs. Bugger that!
Who wants to swap music. If someone sends me a tape with heaps of nz stuff then i'll send you a tape with crappy aussie bands on it. Sorry but they don't compare. But i must have not given lightly as the first song.
They've got that rain cd here at redeye records. Worth getting then is it? How much is it at real groovy? I might get my mum to get it. My friend will be pissed that his boston show is soled out. I told her to get there early. Still there is always the scalpers.
yeah i saw tim in Australia at the Castle Hill Tavern. I wanted that aussie pub experiance. It was the first time i saw Tim. I really wanted him to play 'favourite Girl' off the ALT album. But he did "what you've done" instead. It was a great show. Iota was the support. YOu guys should check him out. It's unusual for aussies to have and subtleness. Tim is a completly different show to Neil (who i saw with Fur Patrol). It's good to see both. You can't really compere them though i like Neil's show better. On other Tim news. Andy White is playing tomorrow at the La Bar in Darlinghurst. Andy as in ALT. here's hoping he'll play favourite girl.
I've got the single for disapear. It's the only thing i like of theirs. That first song they put out where they've got that braided bassplayer was not bad. They only did one album eh. What's the solo singers album like?
hello everyone! I'm warren, i'm living in sydney (from auckland though)and i'm going to be your guide to Australian music. Well as you previously first thought, it is quite crap. But there is some good stuff out there. Also it's very americanised. But the market is big here so a lot of stuff gets through. Nothing so original like NZ but hey it rocks. For starters check out these sites. www.bombshellzine.com Probably the biggest gig guide in Australia. www.obzine.net This is a big western sydney forum. and here's mine www.geocities.com/sexdrumsandrocknroll/ Send me an email as well to sexdrumsandrocknroll@hotmail.com I'll help your band out if i can. Getting gigs over here is so easy. You put them on yourself for no cost. Except in your case where you have to pay for the airfare. "keep cool til after school"
Mate how will the costs be twice? Think about it! They will be going to the printers in america to do america and the same for australia/nz. Why would they be doing it twice. They've got more cost relabling their entire back catologue. And i'm the same as you, a massive fan of Shihad, not Pacifier. One for the record, at the metro everyone was calling out shihad and i didn't see any people before or after the show buying pacifier shirts. Even the street press over here are bagging them on their lame name. Viva la shihad para siempre!
Yeah that's why no one else got into the second album cause there was no funk but i didn't even like it on the first album. Filler tracks. Umm trying to think of something. Basically anything that wasn't the singles. They just didn't gel with me. Where did you guys see them? I saw them at the Powerstation with Pumpkinhead, Future Stupid and some lame australian band. It was a massive gig! Then again at the Big Day out when they played in the supertop. The crowd was going nuts! What ever happened to their second drummer?
Yeah so where are these girls? I paid up for 2 of their eps and never go them. C'mon Melissa cough up!
They certainly did!! I saw them play with Supergroove at the powerstation and heaps of times after that. Has everyone gone on to something else? Details please!
i'll have to check em when they come to australia next week.
