Haha! You should check out www.myspace.com/thesefourwalls aswell!
I've got a ticket, but im not really in need of money.......more like a solution to my frizzy/curly hair....
I see your point but if The Rabble were going to be successful with the backing of these friendly punk kids they would have already done something.
From what i can gather they have been around for a relatively long time and have played a shitload of gigs and seem to have a large teen following........YET they have accomplished little as far as commercial success goes.......doesn't this bode badly for their future?
I agree that their riffs and rhythms resemble the catchiness of pop-punk........but doesn't catchiness GENERALLY also need vocal melody, especially for commercial radio. The Rabble vocalist/s can't sing melodies.
Yeah but hard work doesn't make up for a complete lack of talent........if funding is aimed at commercial success then what the frick are they doing getting funding? What commercial radio station plays shit like that except Kiwi?
And correct me if i'm wrong but Chong Nee who's Dei Hamo's bumboy got a new recording artist grant AND a video grant for 2 different songs when im pretty sure it states that you can't.
Bollocks!
C'mon, you can't talk Schmoovey, we could probably take cliched out of the mix, but unoriginal can certainly be spared.
Hey Evermore fans! Before i make my comment i want you to know that after buying these guys' album iam a great fan and i reckon they are probably the best NZ rock band out there at the moment. BUT....what's up with the song that sounds EXACTLY like Pink Floyd and the last song sounding like the Cadbury ad (only the crunchiest tastiest chocolate bit)? Not really a criticism, more of an observation but a bit weird dont you think? Are they big chocolate eaters?
They have to play together because they have the same rhythm guitarist i believe.
Checked out your guys website...very nice and cool songs too. Saw you at the BOB central aucks final where you rocked!
I'll spread the word for this launchpad thing....would be good to hear some decent nz rock music on the radio.
Of all the bands that somehow get to headline a show in this country Stylus would be the one who would need to mix down their support the most. Gee they are bad.
I do realise that this happens but how do you know it happened last night?
I was there and apart from the house lights being on,which was annoying, their sound was pretty good.
I see you are very practiced in the art of witty repartee and really know how to back up an argument!
Bro! Pluto sounded fine...they are just plain average.
Please fill us in on your personal experience with Muse and why they are such wankers in your eyes?
Is it NOT a piss-take? Thats got to be one of the worst songs ever given any kind of recognition!!
It sounds like a couple of 13yr olds fucken round with a tape deck!
Im pretty sure Festival Mushroom organised the support act and Muse themselves would have had no part in the selection.......thus the tripe we got. I think more than anything this can indicate the lack of decent NZ rock music at the moment....there are bands out there but because of the popularity of Hip-Hop, RnB and pop punk...no one wants to back the rock band and give them a chance to prove themselves.
I have just returned from seeing some decent NZ Music compete in the Auckland Central battle of Bands final and have come away feeling rather strange. That is probably the best word i can come up with to describe the outcome of the event. Without going into details, the band that won did not deserve to...sorry to be harsh but its the truth. There were 3 other bands there that deserved to win through to a national final that will now be graced by a bland and rather 'boring' band from Auckland central.
I hope iam not alone in my opinion...and i know it is just an opinion...but im pretty sure im not alone as when the winner was announced the whole King's Arms, full of around 100+ people fell into a bizarre silence, evryone there was almost certainly dumbfounded.
Once again this is just an opinion and i dont think the band that won were at all bad...there were just better performances on the night than theirs.
If anyone else was at the gig and saw it differently please fill me in with what i missed......?.....
I agree on the drums...maybe its the kit itself?? But overall a cool sound.....maybe also look at blending those vocal tracks or maybe there's too much effects??
Will have to catch you guys round the place!
I know those guys, they are pop-punk in the fashion of 48May and Goodnight Nurse...but they would probably disagree with me...to my ears they are pretty similar. They are tight and put on a good show though!
Ok, so there seems to be some shit goin on here but has anyone been to any of the gigs and checked out the bands? any of note?
Surely there must be some half decent bands entered!
Hey all.
I am interested in forming a band with a view to start jamming in Auckland early next year. I am in my early 20's, an accomplished vocalist, have been in a rock band these past five years and am now looking to start something different.
I am wanting to start an indie folk-pop band with influences such as: Gomez, Coldplay, Counting Crows, Ben Folds, Badly Drawn Boy, Ben Harper, Brendan Benson, Dave Matthews, The Dears, Elbow etc... I can go further into this later but you get the drift...
If you think you might be interested chuck an email to me, Jeremy, at jredmore@hotmail.com
