i dunno if i'd want to see their favourite vids. clarkey is so wet. why not chuck on some real music heads who people know and respect rather than some poofy media students. that'd make c4 more watchable. at least nick d has something to do with music.

Fartweasel : 11 May 2005 - 6:43pm

Respect indeed... i must say i am well impressed. Though i must say as a long-time respecta of the freedys smooth tunes that i expected nothing less. Them fullas be top notch. Pity it missed out on the bNets, no doubt they would have taken it all! Along with Trinity's latest album, the latest tunes from these lads make me proud to be born in the same country. Hooray for New Zealand!

Aotearoa.... she's so beautiful.... (thanks warren :)

You know, i'd be interested to know how many kiwi artists do a bit of a faux-American accent without thinking about it. A lot of us grew up singing along to American songs, trying to sound like Eddie Vedder, or James Hetfield, or whoever. Sometimes when i find myself singing something, it automatically comes out with a hint of the American Vedder 'rrrrrr' in it. I think the accent is as much part of the musical influence as the instrumental lines in a lot of cases. Im sure people will alwys be subconsciously mimicking their idols/'respectees'.

Perhaps it's because new kiwi artists aren't too confident and use this false accent to avoid being too personally offended if they're criticised, a kind of mask on their true voice. It is quite difficult to stand up and sing in entirely your own voice, it makes you feel quite vulnerable if not entirely confident.

I think once a singer starts singing like that, then when/if the band becomes more successful - why change a winning formula? I mean it's easy to criticise the end product, eg. 48 May, who are unfortunately quite popular. Though i'm sure there have been a lot of people along the way telling the singer that the accent, the voice, the lyrics, are all good. I wonder if they would have got as far if the singer sang with a Kiwi accent?

I woulda thought the fact that some people really think that shit makes it all the more heeaaavee man. The pilot probably saw the biggest, most beautiful bunch of buds ever seen before from the sky and became overwhelmed. Ha ha. I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to dive right into them. Mmmm. I guess they have to blame something on the stoners to keep up the anti-drugs message, but really, when was the last time you saw some totally stoned fella cause some harm? I think... um, bugger, I forgot.

i hope someone bought you a dictionary for christmas. "point" doesn't even -sound- like piont. is that faux-french or something? ha ha.

I've never been one for reading novels, but the Da Vinci Code was surprisingly hard to put down i thought. Then again i was procrastinating exam study at the time i think. I remember finding it very cheesy when i started but forgot about it once the novelty of novel-reading wore off. Langdon should have shagged Sophie ha ha. That would have made the movie better! Then again, they'd need to switch Tom Hanks, crikey.
Just started readin Angels and Demons, a book previous to the Da Vinci Code. Anyone read that?
Btw, i noticed the guy that does Dan Brown's cover art and symbols in his book is called John Langdon.

Funny, i thought christianity was all about love and unity, but the festival has to be separated. Can't christians trust eachother? Maybe the wooing of the deviiiil is getting stronger!

Fartweasel : 10 November 2004 - 4:13am

ha ha that cartoon is good.
i think the internet is the natural home of the alter-ego, where all the weirdos you wouldn't meet in a bar become everything they've always wanted to be. you can abuse people bigger than you all you like and not get a smack in the face. what a lovely place.
i wonder if it's ok to pretend you're a girl to a blind person.

Fartweasel : 10 November 2004 - 3:52am

noizyboy...
1. yeah i know they gave the award to both of them, i was referring to the posts on this forum so far, where everyone gives credit to scribe.
2. yeah it is a pretty common delivery style, but the best rappers don't do it. People like Eminem manage to avoid being monotonous, and in doing so create what i'd say is award-winning-quality music. His rap style and rapping is just that - pretty common.

As for the rest of it... fair enough.

Fartweasel : 27 October 2004 - 2:28pm

Hmmm... on APRA's website.. "Judges consider only the creative distinction of the song, assessing both the musical and lyrical content in equal proportion. The commercial success of the song is irrelevant."

reeeeeeeally?

And according to poular music radio ratings... Britney, Christina, and the Spice Girls have all in their time had universal appeal... I guess i was hoping the Silver Scrolls could look further than radio ratings... but then again, it is APRA.

Fartweasel : 27 October 2004 - 2:05pm

Ahhh... ba humbug. Hasn't permeated my psyche further than being an average rap tune, in which the rapper can't manage to change his intonation beyond the same drop down at the end of every line. Gets so monotonous! If anything, give P-Money the credit! As a producer he has a lot more to do with the song than Scribe's repetitive dribble.

Ah, maybe that's a bit harsh.

Fartweasel : 27 October 2004 - 1:50pm

it's no where near as cool as the mega-mysterious 5c at THE ZOO (Auckland), bro.
