sift : 27 July 2004 - 10:20pm

Yeah, but try playing a scratched record as well. There a little easier to scratch then CD's too. I *ahem* burn most of my cd's, and spend WAAAAY too much money on vinyl. Its an addiction. Vinyl sounds warmer, has more room for artwork (mmm double gatefold) and just feels nicer. You got this nice big heavy round thing that you can see the music (grooves) on. But try lugging a shitload of em to a gig. Not very light.

sift : 27 July 2004 - 10:11pm

my, arnt we humourless. The act of being exclusive (there ya go ya pendantic twat :) ) aint my cuppa tea. Its just wrong.

sift : 27 July 2004 - 9:38pm

sift : 22 July 2004 - 7:48pm

"too true...
sam106 says the artists get about 3 of those dollars
so the record companies are making a whopping 27$
for what?
shipping?
loaning money to record?
the record industry is a fucking disgr"

The store has to make money, how do they pay for the staff, store, etc etc? Then the cds have to be delivered. Who pays for that? Then the distributer has to get a cut, otherwise there would be no cds out there, and no overseas cds either. Then the record label has to pay for the pressing, artwork, advertising, legal, running costs, (well more then likely the label will charge the artisit for this) then the artist has to make a buckmake a video, tour, eat, etc etc. The costs are a lil less black n white then you make out. That said, the majors rip off thier artists big time. Boh! to the indies....

Big "dance" artists youse fullahs are missing are pitch black and nathan haines, Haines makin it big with phil asher and asides and the like, and pitchblack are pretty big overseas, but i would agree with the "dub" call (its so not dub, but thats just being pedantic) People all over say that the sound of bands like trinityfreddiesetc is pretty unique, and is getting pretty "influential". Germany loves that shit. But in the grand scheme of things (pop like pacifier and OMC aside), I reckon it was the while flying nun thing that has had the biggest impact.

sift : 21 July 2004 - 11:54pm

All C4's design is terrible. From print to on screen to the set "design" its all so godamn awful. But good on em for showing good videos, a whole lot better then juice ever was.
