I like to look at a more bigger picture that I feel very strong about and worried for the sake of NZ music.I have a thought here....tell me what you think...from living in Australia and loving the creativity and striking weirdness of New Zealand music, I think in a strange way it has taken away the real structure and passion that is so evident in NZ music. By having a scheme that says hay...we want a radio hit motherfuckers common show me your worth, tells me that every struggling band out there who wants to make a living out of music is either going to write a song for radio or go along the lines of what radio is doing. This leaves no room for 'the happening' the one spark that a scene needs to create a new original sound that builds on the alternatives and commercial radio. In the short run, the NZOI scheme is good for artists to gte out there and get on the radio...but brothers it is killing the passion and originallity of nz music. Artists are there for the wrong reasons and sometimes you can either see it....or hear it.There are a few exceptions...but are they backed up by anything.

green22 : 24 August 2004 - 11:11pm

keep you posted all all the movements......keeping the faith...website will be up and running by the end of the week. Gigs galore at the moment...lookign forward to Saturday evening.
