- back in the day you didn't have to know how to play your instrument to be in a band and make music, and it still sounded wicked... now theres so much emphasis on all the technical ... its obvious their parents paid for tuition.
saw the mint chicks on saturday nite at an all ages gig - it was really good- i have to say better than a R18 gig !! more relaxed and less assholes prancing around! they played a few covers to start off with - their buzzcocks cover blew me away !!! And guess what it was only $5 - chip as chips !
it wold have been better if it was more about the music , than being a VIP and just being seen there.... yes there were heaps of socialites in karenwalker dresses jeans and pointy white shoes, that probably have never heard any of the bands... maybe the fast crew though.... the skating thing was gay as was the ramp its better atmosphere when the bandas are right up in your face ... and too much dj sirvere.. they should have mixed it up a bit and got some rocknroll djing as well...
Nick Harte from the Shocking pinks
The drummer in die die die is amazing!
i think the mint chicks are kinda popular cos their sound is quite "fashionable" at the moment... its not classic, its gonna date. i think some people don't like them, but go to their gigs cos they want to be seen, and buy their record so they can say theyve got it, there music can be alienating and irritating.
y would they go to england, need to play shows to us... by the way congrats on the bnet ... rock n roll,... you also should get an award for best dressed!
just saw the f the golden youth video.. its cool.
