bureaucrat : 5 July 2004 - 10:09pm

come and listen to my hacking cough and call it a sickie. work is kinda fun when you have a fever.

these poor people having their appeal for members taken over by idle crap. spose thats what happens when you want to start yet another garage rock band, weeks after starting a funk lite band

bureaucrat : 5 July 2004 - 9:01pm

Get back to work rusty one.

bureaucrat : 1 July 2004 - 2:21pm

I was there when rusty's said bass player developed his unhealthy obsession with basses with way more than 4 strings. That show was weird, but it got better. CMO were opening for the Indicator Dogs, who had just recuited their incredibly feral new singer, who went by the solid name of 'Wolf'. Now that was a guy to write home about, he was like a David Yow on way too much p and acid.

Id say my fav would be the Galatos PA. when i saw hdu there on the fireworks tour it was incredible- massive volume and bass, but still great definition. the KA one is the runner up- its a reaally nice PA, but apparently the space is really badly set up for sound, so its a bit of a losing battle there.

I got dragged along to that house club Morrison on Fort St a few months ago, and i gotta say while the music was awful, the sound was pretty amazing- really clear, and easy on the ears even tho it was hell loud. if only more live venues would put that sort of money into sound, then we would be talking.

bureaucrat : 16 June 2004 - 7:27pm

Im not sure if its lack of care, its more like lack of funds. i mean if you are playing in established venues you use what they have, and apart from the KA and galatos, most PAs in Auckland are shitty as. If you are organising your own PA outside one of those venues you are going to be limited by budget, and who wants to lose a whole lot of money so that you can have a nicer PA. enough money goes into buying/maintaining your gear as it is.

Id say bands are just as poor now as they were back in 75 or 85, therefore the continuing lack of quality sounds.

bureaucrat : 16 June 2004 - 4:56pm

and ol rusty is in two bands too. secretly he loves tool tho, its in his blood :-)

bureaucrat : 3 June 2004 - 11:14pm

i suppose, but were the meat puppets hardcore. more like country fried hardcore.

bureaucrat : 3 June 2004 - 11:12pm

mmm... im drunk after after work drinks, so this bound to be absolute shit.

punk might have been a style of music once, but now prob describes a way of working to create music, ie telling the rules to go fuck off and creating something that is artiscially true. i reckon that there are punk painters musicians etc. its just all in the attitude. any attempt at categorising a style of 'punk' is actually the antithesis of punk]

mmm off to find more free piss...

bureaucrat : 31 May 2004 - 9:35pm

You are so wrong, rusty just LURVES goodnight nurse. Id say hes entering obsessed groupie status. he loves the accents, the hair gel, the big crunchy guitars, the whole package...

bureaucrat : 30 May 2004 - 8:59pm

can you play keyboards at all?

bureaucrat : 25 May 2004 - 4:08pm

funnily enough, we are in the same band! our cover has been blown!!!!

we are called The Body Corporate and we are playing with Die! Die! Die!, The Coolies and The Secrataries at Edens Bar on June the 12. We dont have a website as that gig is actually our first proper one. come along, we wont suck too much!

bureaucrat : 23 May 2004 - 2:14pm

Im a massive fan of Modest Mouse and Fugazi. I suppose my band is kinda similar to those bands too.

bureaucrat : 20 May 2004 - 8:30pm

I'd prob say discreet racism from programme directors and the like.

I remember a few years ago an interview with Southside of Bombay, about their song "Whats the time Mr Wolf". They had tried for years to get the song on radio as a single, but where continually knocked back because of the te reo in the song. Basically radio where forced to play it because of a 'grassroots' desire for the song, rather than because they really wanted to.

Id chance that the grass roots was the reason that Poi E was such a big hit too.

bureaucrat : 17 May 2004 - 7:52pm

batriders gonna be one of the best bands in NZ at the moment full stop. the low hum track is brilliant

fuck off nonbreed.

bureaucrat : 17 May 2004 - 7:27pm

dylan, joni mitchell, neil young, britt daniels

not that carol king is a bad songwriter, i just think that there are better ones. and i was scarred after my mother listened to her all through my childhood.

bureaucrat : 10 May 2004 - 3:25pm

Nah you have one guy who sings going bonkers with the mic stand, and the other guy who plays guitar going vaugely bonkers next to him. the synthy stuff is all minidisc. I wasnt there on sat but every time ive seen them theyve been pretty damn cool, even tho the singing can be a little ropey at times.

bureaucrat : 6 May 2004 - 9:50pm

wow. more young bogans who cant spell.

keep it up tho, that would be pretty funny to see.

bureaucrat : 2 May 2004 - 5:56pm

Labelling hip hop etc black music is pretty damn ignorant man. when you think about it, rock music in all its forms (including metal) comes out of music that was mainly identified with african americans. rock n roll was a synthesis of bluegrass country and blues, and its basically gone from there. so your beloved metal has just as much 'blackness' as the next style

and what about the bad brains for gods sake!

bureaucrat : 22 April 2004 - 9:36pm

Its goin to be goooood alright. the thought is getting me thru this shitty afternoon.

bureaucrat : 20 April 2004 - 9:20pm

dont believe the hype...

bureaucrat : 20 April 2004 - 7:38pm

umm wasnt everyone so cool and full of overinflated egos at the kiss and make up club. and clad in identical 1980s suit jackets and bad, but yet expensive haircuts? The whole thing just reeked of scenesters. yuk

bureaucrat : 6 April 2004 - 3:32pm
