Recently formed band (guitarist/bassist/drummer) seek vocalist (and maybe guitarist) to join fold, crafting music in the vein of bands like At The Drive In, Thrice, Foo Fighters, Placebo, Muse, Bloc Party, The Strokes, Weezer, BRMC, Queens of The Stone Age, Thursday, Funeral for a Friend, Sommerset, Kitsch amongst others. Kind of a dark-rock sound, prefer someone with experience, but anyone considered.
We all have had a few years playing in bands, consider ourselves of an intermediate level and are aged in our mid 20s. Not necessary for you to be able to play an instrument, but it would be cool if you had some guitar knowledge if only for song writing, though we do have a lot of tracks already written, so we're looking for someone happy to write as well as sing existing material.
Have practise space available for the most part, North Shore location. Contact us for more details more keen to see if we can work with you than anything else, but ideally are looking for someone 18-30, own transport, ability to write music and have a fair idea of their vocal ability. Looking for a clean voice really over screamers and someone fairly outgoing and with a well developed sense of humor.

Hey man, I've emailed you just now, let me know if it's what yer looking for.

nah, no worries man, was taking the piss out of myself more than anyone else
Yeah, I could be keen. Definitely nothing too screamo-metal, but post hardcore, for sure. Thrice-ish is probably a good indication.
Hey, sounds workable, I'm in Auckland, on the Shore, hope that helps.
Currently playing guitar for an indie-rock band, but have spare time on hands and would like to cater towards my more aggressive musical tendencies and get involved with some musicians who enjoy influences such as At The Drive In, Thrice, Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, Bloc Party, The Strokes, Weezer, BRMC, Queens of The Stone Age, Thursday, Funeral for a Friend, Sommerset, Kitsch, AFI, Thursday, Glassjaw, Jimmy Eat World, The Bronx, Franz Ferdinand, etc.
Basically a "punk-rock-dark-emo-metal-post-hardcore-less-screams-more-harmony" type outfit or anything that remotely ressembles that sort of sound. I've been playing for a few years and have a fair bit of gigging experience, only average on theoretical knowledge, but I'm fairly solid in the playing department and am happy to play lead or rhythm and even sing a bit.
Really keen to hear from a likeminded bassist, drummer, vocalist and another guitarist (maybe even a keyboard player) in a similar frame of mind, preferably 18-30 (I'm 26) who wants to jam, maybe not super serious at the moment as this will probalby be a side project but if it evolves, I'm willing to go the distance.
Best of all, I have top-end gear and FREE practise space available at my home, which will include a good condition drumkit and vocal setup that would suffice for practises.

Just like everyone else, I'm on the search for that elusive creature within the musical jungle, the bassist, or four-stringerus rhythmus, in the Latin.
Here's the lowdown:
- The group consists of two guitarists (myself and one other), vocalist and drummer all aged between 18-25, mixture of students and working class folk. Both myself and the other guitarist have had a fair bit of band experience,, the other members are a bit newer to the muso scene.
- The band's "genre" would be best described as "indie-emo-garage-rock" and collective influeces include At The Drive In, Further Seems Forever, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, The D4, Weezer, White Stripes, The Donnas, The Mars Volta, Sparta, Thrice, AFI, This Night Creeps, Bright Eyes, Cat Power, The Shins, etc.
- Currently practising on the North Shore once a week. The space we use has a very small practise cost and provides a soundproofed room, PA and bass rig will be available if you don't have your own. We would stipulate that it would be preferrable if you had your own gear, or at least a bass, but you should be able to use the amp at the studio.
- Anyone will be considered, and we would welcome a novice or learner. All we're really after is someone who is keen to add a little of their own influences and be able to come to at least one practise a week. Own transport preferable, but we're happy to try and accomodate as two members come from the central city and one from west with me on the Shore, so we can work around transport.
If it sounds like something you're after, please get in touch.

and there's one of the other people of which i spoke - coolness.
what would you prefer to play, bass or drums?
I'm conglomerating with some other people i've met on here, about a band with many of the influences you have listed. I'll email you about it.
Hey, I'm interested in working with you. See my add in this forum for my contact details, a lot of our influences are very similar.
Due to the departure of one of our members, a second guitarist is required (non-specific to lead or rhythm, probably a mix of both, or whatever you prefer, other guitarist negotiable) for an indie/rock/alternative band, which is best described as representing elements of Weezer, QOTSA, Foo Fighters, Coheed & Cambria, The Killers, Thursday, Placebo, Muse, ATDI, Sparta, Sommerset etc.
Upbeat sound and tempo, big guitar sounds and memorable riffs are what we are looking for. Decent quality guitar & amplifier is essential (as you’ll be up against a some powerful amps and loud drummer), as is own transport, some song ideas of your own and a good sense of humour and laid-back attitude. We are in it to write good songs and play some shows, not for careers, so no rockstars please.
Would prefer someone with some band experience but not compulsory, just keen on someone that can learn parts, inprovise and be tasteful in their playing, level of skill not an issue – novice okay. Not fussed on age or sex, anyone considered, we are three guys (gat/bass/drums) in our mid-late 20’s. We have a Sunday afternoon slot at The Killing Room in Aucks as well. Can provide a link to demo track if interested.
